Title: Following In Their Footsteps
Description: Trying A Solo

OriginalVampire - August 16, 2010 12:10 AM (GMT)
Jimba had just recently come to this area, though the land was beautiful. The sun was still coming up so the land shone with the wet dew and the noises of wild digimon playing in the grass and flying in the sky filled his ears. Pagumon looked around excitedly, though he never moved from his place on top of Jimba's head. "Wow." Jimba breathed, taking in the landscape surrounding the pair.

Jimba set off down a seemingly worn path, not very sure where he was headed. Only that he wanted to see as much as he could before he left later that day, Pagumon leapt off his head and landed next to his feet laughing as he bound ahead. Jimba chuckled as each of his steps was about three of Pagumon's hops and set off after his digicompanion.

As Pagumon bound forward Jimba pretended to try to catch him, running just close enough to try to grab him but he would 'miss' and Pagumon would hop a little faster. The pair could be heard all around them, their laughter ringing through the landscape. Pagumon hopped up a hill as Jimba waited to run after him when moments after Pagumon disappeared from view Jimba heard a scream from the other side of the hill. "Pagumon!?" Jimba cried out, racing up the hill to see what had happened to his digimon.

OriginalVampire - August 16, 2010 04:13 AM (GMT)
Jimba raced up the hill, almost tripping in his hurry but managed to catch himself and push on. He crested the hill to find Pagumon being circled by three wild Gazimon. What do I do? Jimba thought, though as soon as he came in sight of Pagumon and the Gazimon one of them turned to face him, barring its fangs and a slight growl coming from the back of its throat. Jimba took a step back, eyeing the ground for a branch or something he could use to defend himself but found nothing of the sort.

I can't just stand here while Pagumon is in trouble! the thought finally took hold of Jimba, he launched himself over the Gazimon who was closest to him and landed on one of the two Gazimon that were still circling Pagumon and scooped up Pagumon without missing a step and began sprinting in the direction he landed. What do I do? screamed in his head, while he heart thundered in his chest. His breath came hard and fast as he clutched Pagumon close to him.

He didn't stop to look over his shoulder for fear that the three digimon were on his heels. He wasn't far from the truth, as two of them were. The third was trailing behind after being landed on. A small hole caught Jimba's foot and sent him flying off his feet, landing face first into the dirt. Pagumon landed a few feet away no better off. Jimba got to his hands and knees, panting as suddenly a weight came crashing down on his back. He dropped again, grunting as he couldn't lift his body back up. One of the two closer Gazimon was on top of him leaving him stuck on the ground. The second circled to face Jimba, snaring "Rotten human, you got in the way of our fun!" The Gazimon on his back cackled in response and Jimba could feel the digimon's claws just barely dig into his back.

Jimba pushed his head up to see Pagumon push his way up out of the dirt, his normally small eyes were huge and glazed over with a look of rage. "POISON BUBBLES!" he shouted, letting out a flood of the small toxin spheres at the Gazimon on top of Jimba. They hit is face and chest with ease as the Gazimon was still laughing. The force of the bubbles took his balance away and he toppled off of Jimba who used the moment to head butt the Gazimon in front of him which flipped it onto its back. Jimba rushed to Pagumon's side, favoring his right leg because of the fall.

Jimba knew he was bleeding slightly from the claw marks on his back but he wasn't to worried about that at the moment. Pagumon had yet to let up on his assault on the two surprised digimon thought they seemed to be surviving the attack. A light drew Jimba's gaze to his D-ban on his arm. It looked like a DNA thread was swirling around on it which flashed something he couldn't read in red lights. He didn't know what exactly happened next but Pagumon stopped his attack and suddenly transformed. His body shifted from a solid form into data and then with a crash of sound and light a new digimon hovered where Pagumon was moments before "DemiDevimon!" the new digimon shouted and with a sudden pulse of his wings he went even higher into the sky.

"Wow" was all Jimba could mouth as the digimon came down screaming "Demi Dart!" throwing three darts with deadly accuracy. Two struck flesh in one of the Gazimon between his shoulder blades while the third one only struck dirt as the other Gazimon dodged out of the way.

The Gazimon that was hit twitched violently and dropped to the ground, its tongue lolled out of its mouth and foam spilling from its mouth. The other Gazimon opened its mouth while saying "Electric Stun Blast" a black mist shot out of its mouth directly at DemiDevimon. The winged digimon was able to dodge most of the mist which would have most likely ended the fight, but it did reach one of his wings which made him start a nose dive for the ground. Jimba cried out but rushed into action, bull rushing the Gazimon as its eyes were still on DemiDevimon and tackling it to the ground. They rolled onto the ground before the Gazimon gained the advantage and was on top of Jimba. The digimon's jaw snapped wildly before clamping down hard on Jimba's shoulder. The bone held but the pain lit his whole left side aflame, he cried out but pounded his right fist into the back of the wild digimon's skull but it didn't seem to do much to stop the digimon from clamping down all the harder. The digimon suddenly went limp and its jaw unlocked and dropped like dead weight onto the tamer. He panted, tears welling up in his eyes as his head was racing just as fast as his heart now. DemiDevimon appeared behind the wild digimon, multiple Demi Darts protruding from the back of the Gazimon, and helped drag the wild digimon off of Jimba who was clearly going into shock from the brawl which had just taken place.

They saw the third Gazimon limping its way closer to them, DemiDevimon looking pretty bad after the fighting. He perched on Jimba's good shoulder, looking between the incoming Gazimon and Jimba before whispering to Jimba "Look, I don't think we can handle that rabid digimon right now. I don't have much fight left in me and you don't look so great yourself. What do you say I slow this last one and we make a run for it?" Jimba only grunted in response, and DemiDevimon pushed off of Jimba and began flying towards the last Gazimon. The Gazimon stopped and opened its mouth as wide as it could shouting "Electric Stun Blast!" though DemiDevimon was able to bank lower to avoid the mist entirely this time. DemiDevimon closed in and once again let loose a trio of Demi Darts. Two of them went wild while the third hit but didn't stick in the pelt of the beast digimon. The Gazimon grunted in pain and opened its mouth once more to let out another attack but DemiDevimon locked eyes with him and began muttering. The Gazimon let out a small puff of mist before it turned into a yawn. It shook itself and once again opened its mouth but DemiDevimon used the moment to throw two more Demi Darts at the immobile digimon. They struck true, hitting his left back leg and made it start twitching. The Gazimon yowled in pain and bent over to try to pry the darts from his leg which was a tough task. DemiDevimon glided back to Jimba and landed on his shoulder once more groaning "Quick, while he is busy!"

All Jimba could do was turn himself around and begin moving away from the battle field. He would glance at DemiDevimon ever now and again, and he didn't look like he was in very good shape either. The damage he took seemed to be finally catching up to him and he could barely keep his eyes open and keep a firm grip on Jimba's shoulder. Battered and bruised they looked like quite the pair but Jimba keep moving, even when he wanted to stop. The journey back felt a lot longer then the trip out and seeing DemiDevimon seemingly start to lose conciseness Jimba asked him "What made you digivole back there?". The winged digimon perked up hearing the question, and muttered in reply "I couldn't have won without doing it. I needed more power, even this wasn't quite enough though."

"But why did you save me? You could have turned and ran while they had me down." Jimba pressed deeper into the topic. DemiDevimon coughed "I could ask you the same thing. They had me surrounded but you jumped in like some stupid hero and risked your life." Even in Jimba's state that almost made him laugh, Maybe we are both just to stupid to know when to quit. "So what should I call you? DemiDevimon is kind of a mouthful." Jimba asked. "Call me 'D'" the virus digimon said, not meeting Jimba's gaze. "Alright D, sounds good."

As they traveled the sun began to set and the moon began to rise. "Hey D." Jimba said, the virus digimon turned to look at the tamer. "Yah?" "You were pretty cool back there. I just wanted to tell you that." Jimba said, grinning slightly at the DemiDevimon. D grunted "You weren't to bad yourself, for a human of course." That made them both chuckle, making Jimba wince from the movement that caused.

The moon had nearly risen to its peek when they caught sight of a Trailmon at a station. Jimba winced as he picked up his pace moving towards the train, he didn't see any other humans or digimon so he was more confused then anything on why the train digimon was stopped. Jimba and D arrived to see the Trailmon napping, "Hello?" Jimba called.

The Trailmon's eyes went wide open "Oh Shoot! Did I fall asleep again! I have to get back on track now. Hey you two, do you need a ride? Cause if you do get on quick!" The Trailmon opened it's cabin doors and the duo dragged themselves inside and onto a chair. Moments after they sat down the Trailmon lurched to a start and took off towards the Digital City. I've had enough activity for a few days I would say Jimba thought, turning to where he had set D to see he was back in his In-training form of Pagumon passed out. "Hmmm? I wonder what made him revert?" Jimba muttered as he himself watched the plains slowly change as the Trailmon plowed through other areas on route to the Digital City. The sun had begun to rise by the time they finally stopped in the city.
