Title: An Unwelcoming World

DarkSlayer1331 - August 8, 2010 02:05 AM (GMT)
Groaning, Brett started to sit up, rubbing the back of his head and opening his eyes slowly, wondering where he was. He thought that he'd be hearing beeps and muffled noises in the hallway of a hospital, with him in a bed. After that kind of weird dream, and feeling like he had been hit by a bus, Brett was sure that he was involved in some kind of accident. Instead, he found that he was actually sitting on the ground, and looking around he realized that he was actually in some kind of a forest. The area wasn't familiar to him though, and the trees in general looked to be a bit odd, as if from another country entirely. Or at the very least, another region of the U.S.

Feeling a little unsteady, Brett pushed himself up onto his feet and immediately closed his eyes, the effects of inertia taking over. "What's the matter Brett? You feeling alright?" Brett froze as he heard the voice, one that sounded as if it belonged to a little toddler, possibly a five year old at the most. Opening his eyes, he saw a small creature floating in the air in front of him... one that he had never seen before in his life. It was brown, with a white underbelly, and it had a tuft of orange hair sticking out of its head like a flame. Eyes widening, Brett began to back up quickly, but it was much faster than his legs had been expecting and he fell. A breath exhaled out of Brett's mouth in a "oof!" and his butt immediately hurt from the impact on the ground.

"Wh-wh-what are you?" Brett asked, staring up at the creature that had spoken to him. He noticed that his wrist, being bent, was pressing into something on it, and he looked down to see the same strange device on it that he had dreamed of. Or rather, the device that he thought he had dreamed of, but quite obviously actually experienced the weird event. He then looked back at the weird creature, wondering where he was, since he had been right in town when he found this device, and more importantly, what he was doing there.

"My name is Luke, and I'm a Pukamon!" the creature said, grinning and nodding as if this were the most obvious thing in the whole world. Brett just stared at him, and then closed his eyes wishing it all away and saying that it was all just a dream. He felt something on his shoulder then and his eyes snapped open to find that the creature had moved to be right by him and was now on his shoulder. "You're not looking too hot Brett. Maybe you should get some rest, huh?" The Pukamon, as he had called himself, nodded with another large grin, as if this were the best thing to do ever. Brett couldn't help but think that the best thing for him right now was a wake up call.

Shoving the creature off of his shoulder, Brett threw himself forward, landing on his feet and propelling himself further still, forcing his legs to catch up with him. Once he had gotten quite a few steps ahead, he whirled around to face the creature, his heart pumping fast. "You better stay away from me! I'm warning you!" The creature gave him a very peculiar look and shook its head, moving forward towards Brett. He quickly bent down and picked up a rock and cocked his arm back, his other hand pointing a finger at the creature who stopped.

"Now what are you doing that for Brett? Don't you know who I am?" Brett stared at the speaking creature, wondering what kind of dream this was, and why it was so vivid. He gulped, his insides telling him that this wasn't a dream, but his head saying that that was the only logical explanation. Of course there was nothing logical about a speaking, floating, non existing creature either. "I'm your partner Brett. Luke, just like I said before. You should know who I am, because I know who you are. You're my tamer!"

Brett shook his head and then his finger, laughing in a nervous way and closing his eyes yet again. "No, you're crazy. I don't know how you know me, and hell, I don't even know what exactly you are or how you can talk. But I'm not your partner of any kind, and it sure as hell isn't my job to tame you! You want to be tamed, go find some farmer or something!" He opened his eyes to find Luke moving towards him again, pointing at his wrist of the hand that he had been pointing at him with. Obviously this thing knew something about the device, and Brett wondered if he could at least answer those questions for him.

"That there is your D-Ban, which is what you use when you have me battle. You slide your cards through the slot thing there and they all will do something really cool. It also will store me if you don't want me to be out with you. But I'd prefer if you didn't do that, 'cuz if you did then I wouldn't be able to protect you from all of the other nasty Digimon out here. Especially in this forest." Luke was now speaking in more of a hushed tone, looking around the forest as if something was listening to them. And for all Brett knew, that was the case, and it wasn't helping him with his panic right now. "I can't believe that you have no idea what I am or anything. Because I know that you're my tamer Brett, and I know that you're finally here to be with me and help save the world!"

With another small laugh, Brett shook his head and put the rock down, getting the feeling that Luke wasn't a threat to him. "See, now I know you're crazy, because I definitely know that I'm not here to save the world. Of course, I'm not sure what I'm doing here exactly, but I'd like to know where I am. How far from San Francisco?" Brett wanted to figure out how to get home, and the first thing he'd need is the information as to where he was. The way things were going right now, it wouldn't surprise him if he were in a jungle in South America somewhere.

Luke shook his head as if this were all very simple, and Brett was being a bit slow for not knowing this stuff. "You're in the Digital World. I don't know anything about this San Francisco you speak of, but I'm sure that it's far away from here." He nodded matter of factly and floated over behind Brett, who turned to keep the creature in his sight. Even if he figured that Luke wasn't a threat to him, he didn't want to end up finding out that he was nowhere to be seen. "This is where you can find all of us Digimon. Both good like me, and bad like some nasty ones in here. I don't know how, but I knew that this would be where I'd find you, and trust me, I thought about skipping out on our meeting. But I think if I did that then I'd only help ensure that the Digital World stay the way it is, and that's not a good thing."

Brett sighed and held a hand up to rub his forehead right where the bridge of his nose ended. This was all a bit much for him, being in a world that he had never heard of, or at least supposedly, and being told that he was partners with this thing. He knew nothing of what Luke was talking about, and he wasn't even sure if this was all real or if it was some kind of a joke. Maybe aliens had actually kidnapped him and were performing tests on him, finding out the way he'd react under certain situations. Then he laughed out loud, and Luke looked at him as if he were insane, and then he frowned, obviously not liking it. He probably thought that Brett's sense of humor was kicking in at the wrong time, and the teenager shook his head and waved his hand. "No, no I'm sorry. I was thinking that maybe this whole thing going on was some kind of experiment some aliens were doing on me. Then I realized that that's just as unrealistic as this is, so if I'm willing to think that that's a possibility, then why can't I think that maybe this is all real? But unfortunately it's a little hard for me to bite. I don't know what you mean by Digital World, unless you're talking like... the Internet or something? But that doesn't make sense either, 'cuz I'm pretty sure you can't be downloaded into a computer."

"I don't know what a computer is, but I know that it's definitely not the Digital World. It's just the world that we live in, and now you're here just like you're supposed to be. Don't worry, there's others like you here, although I haven't really met any of them. But I know about them, because there's talk all over about how you guys are here to make things right again! Surely you know what I'm talking about... this is just a joke right? You're just seeing how much faith I have in you or something right? Well you don't need to test me anymore! I promise that I believe you're going to help lead this world right again!" With that, Luke glided over to Brett again and put an arm around his shoulder with a grin, bubbling with energy. "We're going to be best friends!"

The Chameleon - August 8, 2010 04:44 AM (GMT)
Vincent. Today he was Vincent. Tomorrow he would be Victor. And the next day a fine young lady by the name of Vanille. He had a fascination with names that started with the letter 'V' - they felt pretty, to say the least. But today he was going to be Vincent Klose. It sounded nice when the name rolled off his tongue. It was good getting in touch with his German parentage...today he was a German. He ran a hand through his golden hair - not that there was a lot of it to begin with. It was cropped rather roughly, almost like the handiwork of a mildly skilled barber.

"Best friends? In San Francisco?"

Vice - Vincent. Vincent shrugged.

"Someone need a way back home?"

DarkSlayer1331 - August 8, 2010 05:20 PM (GMT)
The person came out of nowhere, and when he spoke, Brett jumped, whirling around to face the stranger. He was a human, which was nice as far as Brett was concerned, and he let out a breath of relief. "I didn't see you there, sorry. Yes, I'm from San Francisco. Do you know how I can get back there?" Facing away from Luke, Brett put his eyes on those of the new stranger, and he got some kind of unsettling feeling. The man's hair was slightly uneven, looking to have been cut by someone with minimum skill. Of course who knew what kind of hair cuts one could get in this world.

Luke looked at the man with curiosity and let his arm fall off of Brett's shoulder, wondering just what was going on. "You can't take him out of the Digital World. He's meant to be here. Besides, I've heard that once someone's gotten here, they can't leave. At least not yet." Brett's heart seemed to sink again when Luke said that, and he looked at the stranger with pleading eyes. Hopefully this wasn't true, and it was simply some stupid rumor that Luke had heard from an unreliable source. The Digimon shook his head and looked at Luke, a very grim expression on his face as he spoke. "Whatever you do, don't listen to this guy. I got a bad feeling about him, and I don't see his partner Digimon anywhere."

It was true, Brett didn't see it either, although that didn't mean that it wasn't nearby or anything. Or perhaps he had it stored in his D-Ban like Luke had said you could do with your partner if you wanted. Perhaps this guy didn't want to scare Brett with his partner Digimon, as it could possibly be scary. After all, Brett didn't know what other kinds of Digimon there were, Luke being the only one he had ever seen. There were plenty of explanations for the lack of a Digimon with this stranger, and Brett was sure he would tell him. "Shush, Luke. He probably has a very good reason for not having his partner right next to him. Besides, he's offering to help me, so you should be nice. At least you should be if you're really a friend of mine."

Shaking his head, Luke turned back to the stranger and leered at him, definitely not trusting his guy one bit. He'd have to be ready to protect Brett if it came down to it, though he was desperately hoping that it wouldn't. Brett had already proven over and over that he had no interest in being in this world, and getting into a fight so soon would only set him deeper down the path of getting back home. It was true that Luke had never heard of a Human getting back home, but he didn't want that to be blown out of the water with Brett finding a way to do so.

The Chameleon - August 8, 2010 10:29 PM (GMT)
"How...you could get back to San Francisco?" said Vincent, tapping his chin in thought. His hands played with the various rings he had on his fingers, spinning them, toying with them like a child would with a new toy. They were new. New things that came out from nowhere...not that he minded in the least. New toys were always welcome things to have. His hands slid into his pockets, realizing how intent Brett was on getting back to San Francisco.

"Oh, I can...I caaaaaan..."

Vincent smirked. Indeed, he could. It was unorthodox, but he could potentially get Brett out of this place and to her...she would have a way...he would have a use for him...

"Hmm? My Digimon? ...oh..." said the teenager with a shake of his head. "It really isn't appropriate."

He turned around.

"We are...in the Digital World. There is no San Francisco where we are."

Vincent chuckled under his breath.

"But like I said, I can take you there...whenever you want."

DarkSlayer1331 - August 9, 2010 12:21 AM (GMT)
As the stranger repeated the task of getting back to San Francisco, he fiddled around with the rings he was wearing. He watched him think, and he too started to feel a little uneasy around this guy, possibly because he was just behaving a little strangely. It wasn't very often he came across people who repeated that kind of question and then thought deeply on it. Especially since he had made it seem as if he could get him back home, offering the possibility to Brett. Though maybe he thought that Brett meant somewhere else in the Digital World, although that was highly unlikely. Since he had heard Brett say San Francisco, he should have been able to realize that that was his home, and therefore would know that's where he'd have to take him.

When he said he can, Brett immediately felt his hopes rise, and his heart came up to his throat as he looked eagerly at the other teen. However, the smirk that crossed the unknown kid's face again made Brett feel uneasy, and Luke could hear alarms going off in his head. This guy was definitely off the hook, and if Brett tried going with him, there was no way in hell he was just going to sit by and watch. Brett looked at Luke and looked back and shook his head in a small gestures so as not to set this guy off. If he kept on insisting that Brett didn't listen to him, and he was as crazy as he seemed, then he could suddenly attack.

Hearing him call his partner Digimon inappropriate, Luke immediately had an explanation for that excuse. Chances were that his partner Digimon would be too obvious about the evil plans this guy was up to, and so he had him hidden away. Of course he didn't want to say that out loud, and he could only hope that Brett had thought of the same thing. Unfortunately for Luke, Brett really wasn't thinking that deeply into it, as he still had no clue how things worked in the Digital World. So he passed it off as the Digimon being like a little kid that was just... well... in appropriate. But when he said that San Francisco wasn't in the Digital World, Brett wanted to scream at the guy. He had already come to this same conclusion, and yet here this guy was, pointing out the obvious stuff that he'd already heard!

The stranger then chuckled a bit, although it was barely audible, and the only reason Brett noticed was 'cuz of how his shoulders had moved up and down a bit. His heart skipped a beat at hearing that he could get him to San Francisco, and he had to think about it a moment. It was pretty obvious that the guy was kind of crazy, if not completely off kilter, and Luke didn't like him. But then again, who said that Luke was a good guy that was really looking out for him. For all he knew, he was actually some kind of evil thing that was planning on taking him somewhere to be killed or something. "I'd really appreciate it if you'd get me back home," Brett said quickly, putting a hand up to Luke before he could speak. "That's what I really want, and nothing can change my mind on that. So I'm sorry Luke, but I'm afraid that I'm just not meant to be here. I'm meant to be back home."

Luke couldn't help but feel betrayed, and he knew that it was this guy's fault, giving Brett these false hopes. But why would he do that? What did this guy have up his sleeve, and what would he get out of all of this? It made no sense. No sense at all. "Fine. But I'm going with you up until you leave at least. There's no way I'm leaving you alone." Brett shrugged, not seeing the harm in that, so long as he was going home.

The Chameleon - August 9, 2010 02:49 PM (GMT)
"...you doubt me."

The statement, once spoken, was continued with the teenager glancing up at the clear skies without indication of whom the sentence was directed at.

Vincent leaned against a tree, the very same smirk from before dancing about upon his visage. Did Brett and Luke doubt him? It was highly probable. The Digimon, though tiny, was wary - perhaps a little too wary for the duo's good. Clearly, they weren't going to get far in the Digital World...

...unless, maybe, he intervened. It was definitely possible. He could do it. The question was...did he want to?

"Yes, yes...I will get you home...sorry. Did I catch your name?" said Vincent, his eyes falling on Brett. Regardless of whether he had said his name or not, he decided to ask for the sake of, well, asking. It wasn't like he was Vincent tomorrow. Like always, he wanted tomorrow to be Victor. And then maybe Valentine. Or something else.

Something different...he liked to change. Maybe he could introduce himself as Victor and pretend to be Vincent. That would be fun, he mused.

A chuckle escaped his throat, struggling to part his lips and sound in the open. It managed to do just that.

"Personal space," muttered Vincent, once again, giving no hint to whom his statement was primed at. "Personal...space." He thrust his hands before him, making gestures to indicate some space of his own. He pondered. Would it be appropriate to giggle? No, it wouldn't.

The Chameleon did nothing silly of the sort. Vincent didn't, at any rate. So he restrained himself.

"...and it's about time..."

Surely, his sudden audible whisper would catch the attention of the duo and draw it away from his playing with his rings?

DarkSlayer1331 - August 9, 2010 03:28 PM (GMT)
Luke looked towards Brett again worriedly and his tamer gave him a look that clearly said I'm not so sure about this. The guy was dazed or something, and yet there didn't appear to be anything wrong with him in the physical sense. So it wouldn't seem that he had been knocked around and perhaps given a concussion of some sort. Although those kind of things didn't always leave physical marks, and the concussion could last for quite some time. Brett just wasn't sure that that was what was making this guy act so loopy, and the next thought was drugs. He himself wasn't that big into drugs, but Brett knew that there were plenty of teens out there who just thought they were the thing to do. If that was what was playing a hand in this, then Brett couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor guy.

"My name is Brett." He stared at the guy, wondering how sincere he was in promising Brett that he'd get him home. Luke didn't trust him, and so far Luke was the one out of the two who seemed very stable, not that that meant much. The most wicked of people could have a seemingly stable composure, while good ones seemed to talk in riddles. Or well, that's what the movies and the books depicted anyways, though he supposed that this wasn't exactly a fictional world. Unless it was, in which case he'd be waking up from his dream any minute, so what was the harm in going along with this guy?

Hearing him mention personal space, Luke looked at Brett again before giving him a bit of space. This guy was a nut job, and he didn't want to make him fly off the handle for being too close to Brett. At least that was the only thing he could think of as far as him mentioning personal space. Brett was now giving Luke looks that clearly said he wasn't exactly so sure about this idea anymore. However, he didn't want to throw a chance at getting back home, so he let out a heavy sigh before addressing the other guy again. "Yes, I couldn't agree with you more. It's definitely time for me to get back home."

Luke sighed and crossed his arms, knowing very well that Brett wasn't supposed to go home yet. There were things the two of them were supposed to do, and if Brett went back home, then who knew when he'd come back. Or if he'd even come back at all if he threw away the chance at fulfilling his destiny. Was it possible for these humans to just toss their purpose to the side and go back home without another look back? Or were things designed to keep them from getting back home? "Well Brett, if you're sure that this is what you want, then I'm just going to have to accept it. But I'm telling you, you're making a mistake."

Brett pursed his lips before looking at the stranger and nodding his head, ready to get going to his home. "Let's go," he said.

The Chameleon - August 12, 2010 12:50 PM (GMT)
Vincent nodded calmly, finally showing some sense of sanity in the brief conversation. He glanced at his watch - no, D-Ban - for a second time, muttering under his breath. "It's about time...he's late," he murmured, glancing from the device's screen to the foliage, and back to the liquid crystal display. He ran a hand through his cropped hair, a perplexed frown replacing his smirk.

Whoever he was waiting for, he was apparently punctual...most of the time, anyway.

"Just a minute, Brett."

No sooner than five ticks had happened on the digital clocks of his pure white D-Ban, the ground began to tremble and the shrubs started rustling in the wake of the tremors. Whatever it was, it was drilling furiously underground...or burrowing. Vincent seemed mildly startled, seeing as jerked his head upwards rather violently. Yet he returned to his calm demeanor in a split second, shaking his head.

"That certainly wasn't...it definitely wasn't what I was expecting," he stated with a wave of his hand and pressed a button on his D-Ban. "If you will allow me...to present: Alvaro."

A stream of data snaked out of Vincent's D-Ban, circling through the air into the shape reminiscent of an overgrown potato. Soon, what seemed like limbs sprouted from the sides, followed by two protrusions upon its head. The twin extensions morphed into wings, and an orange glow overtook its body. When the teenager opened his eyes, before him was a flapping Digimon, by the specie name of Patamon.

And it was called...Alvaro.

"Vice...Vice...Vincent," mumbled the mammal, blinking nervously in his Tamer's presence. "W-What is it?"

"We have...an uninvited guest."

Vincent turned to Brett and Luke with a calm shrug. "I believe someone isn't pleased we've decided to leave their turf. For all I know, it could mean the loss of a pleasant meal for them...or the loss of a potential mate," he finished, and his eyes fell on Brett...or was it Luke? Or perhaps Alvaro?

"Do I want to know, Vince?"

"You don't want to know."

DarkSlayer1331 - August 12, 2010 04:22 PM (GMT)
As he waited, Brett couldn't help but wonder exactly how far over the edge this guy has gone, commenting on someone being late. If he had been waiting for someone, shouldn't he have mentioned that before, or at least not made it sound like he had nothing better to do? But before he could ask about the person or whatever he was waiting for, the ground began to shake. He stuck his arms out to both sides of him, his hands palm down, keeping himself steady so as not to fall. Brett looked over to Luke who seemed to be quite as perturbed and actually scared, which he hadn't shown yet.

Now was when they were introduced to the winged Digimon that looked odd, and was named Alvaro. It didn't really look like anything that would be too dangerous, but things weren't always as they seemed. When this guy, who was apparently named Vincent according to his Digimon partner, spoke again to Brett, he gave a nervous laugh. "Potential mate? That sounds very odd. But I think that this has something to do with you, so I'll let you get to it. As much as it pains me to pass up the chance I think that maybe I should just let you go for now. Luke here may know what's best for me right now, and maybe I'll come across you later on and you can help me then."

Backing up, Brett began to wonder how easily it would be to actually get away from this situation. He didn't know how well Luke would be able to protect him either, especially from something large under the ground. Or at least it seemed that it was large, what with the great disturbance it was causing in the area. "Yeah, let's get out of here. I think it's about time we headed toward the city." Luke began to hover ahead of Brett to lead him towards the city he was speaking of and Brett nodded and began to walk. But would he be able to leave so easily...?

The Chameleon - August 13, 2010 10:37 AM (GMT)
"Alvaro."

Vincent wasn't letting Brett go. Or Luke either. The burrowing and drilling was totally unexpected, and he did not wish the duo to come into harm...yet.

Alvaro flapped his wings valiantly, grabbing the collar of Brett's shirt as he tried to stop the teenager from escaping. While he was sure that his actions would earn him a few slaps or bubbles from Luke, he was equally sure that Vincent was doing the right thing in this situation. As uncommon as it was for Vincent to do something for the greater good, there were a few situations where he did not like something to be out of his calculations.

Hopefully this is one of those moments...

"Hold him tight," Vincent's cool voice sounded, though it was shuddering slightly from how intense the tremors were. Running a scan though his D-Ban, the Tamer nodded, smirking as he walked over to Brett and waved off the Patamon. "I suggest you do not take another step," he said, closing in on the other human so that personal space was violated.

The blond-haired teenager chuckled.

Redtide - August 13, 2010 10:46 AM (GMT)
Brushing through the foliage, roaring, was a creature unlike what Brett was perhaps imagining it to be. The brute was nothing of the drilling, underground sort. In fact, he was something that loved heat and the outdoors, where the sun could beat down upon his back and where the winds could lick the flames on his body. He bellowed, charging straight at an innocent Floramon, then drove his tusks into the plant Digimon.

Such was the ferocity of his charge and intent that it caused tremors to spread through the earth. His eyes narrowed. With a deft flick of his head, the Floramon was pinned to the ground and her data, subsequently absorbed. Having obtained his fill, he bellowed in satisfaction ... and set off for dessert.

"Me ... meat ..." growled the Boarmon, tossing his head from side to side. He liked the scent, the feeling of meat grinding against his tusks. Plants were nothing compared to the texture of meat. The flesh of a Digimon was more filling, had a certain tinge of flavor that made it very much desirable. And it lasted longer in his mouth before finally bursting into data.

Soon, he spotted his prey.

"Dangan Attack!!" roared the flaming boar. Hooves thundered against the forest grounds, his head lowered in an attacking stance. His target: Alvaro.

DarkSlayer1331 - August 13, 2010 08:09 PM (GMT)
As soon as Vincent called Alvaro's name, Brett knew that he wasn't going to be allowed to leave so easily. He tried to make a dash forward, but unfortunately the Digimon had already gotten hold of his collar and wasn't letting him leave. Brett supposed that the Digimon wasn't big enough to actually hold Brett back if he tore ahead, but he didn't know what response that would bring from Vincent. If he was willing to have his Digimon partner hold Brett back against his will, then who knew what he'd do if Brett threw the Digimon off? "I don't know who you are, but I do promise you that you will regret having ever met me. Right now I may be nothing in comparison to someone like you, but there will come a day."

Luke glared at Vincent, also holding back, not wanting to start anything with the Patamon that was holding his Tamer back. He was only in his Baby II form, and there was no way to know how far Vincent could get Alvaro to Evolve to. But he was glad to hear Brett give the warning that he did, finally seeing the fire in him that would make him the Digidestined he was meant to be. "You tell him not to take another step. I advise the same to you," Luke said, contempt dripping from his tone. There was nothing he could really do, other than maybe spit a Bubble Blow at the blond, but that would cause retaliation from Alvaro.

Just as Luke was going to address Alvaro with his disgust with him for allowing himself to fall to this, he saw the Boarmon. It in turn apparently saw the winged Digimon, and a hunger appeared in its eyes, before it shouted its attack. Knowing that this was the only time he and Brett would be able to get away, Luke glided over towards Vincent. "Puka Breath!" he shouted, blowing pockets of air at the blond tamer's body, hoping to knock him away from Brett. "Now's our chance Brett, we need to get out of here while they're busy dealing with that!" He saw Brett nod and make a break away from Vincent and towards some trees, Luke following close behind. Now... would they be able to make it away from the seemingly vile duo?

The Chameleon - August 17, 2010 08:03 AM (GMT)
"Shit," growled Vincent under his breath. He had not expected a sudden attack from a Digimon, much less a boar barreling towards them - or more specifically, Alvaro. His cold gaze turned to Luke. "Tell you what..." he hissed, "You tell me you can fight that Boarmon by yourself, and I'll leave. Peacefully and without resistance. Just tell me the word."

He drew away from the duo and released his grip, taking a few steps back. Alvaro had managed to soar higher into the sky with the aid of his rapidly beating wings. This kind of movement was of no problem to the orange mammal. Many a time had he gotten out of fixes worse than this. The Patamon turned around, his body expanding with air swiftly. With a cry of pah!, the creature released a compressed ball of air to counter Luke's own Puka Breath.

His voice was stern and serious, completely different from the lighthearted tone he put on earlier. "Do not...touch Vince," Alvaro cautioned, his eyes narrowing as his heart flared with a steely determination to prevent his Tamer from coming to harm.

As suddenly as he had deflected Luke's assault upon the human, Alvaro started to spin rapidly and shot off towards the nearby trees. His wings curved backwards due to the speed he was traveling at; this did not hinder his flight in the least. At last, he neared a tree, shooting straight into it - just beside Brett and Luke.

"Slamming Attack!"

Redtide - August 17, 2010 08:35 AM (GMT)
Boarmon roared, his prey taken away by the wind. Rearing up onto his hind legs, the beast changed directions, heading towards the trees after Brett and Luke! However, he was met with a distinct 'whoosh' of air as Alvaro soared before him, even managing to knock down a tree to stop him. However, the tree did not fall upon his torso and instead blocked the escape route for the other duo.

He turned around, eyes falling on Vincent. Perhaps he would torch him.

No ...

"Dangan Attack!!" he screamed, hurtling at Vincent in a blind rage. The teenager was defenseless. Alvaro was probably dazed after knocking down a tree. This was his chance! for! lunch!

DarkSlayer1331 - August 17, 2010 08:20 PM (GMT)
Brett heard Alvaro scream Slamming Attack before going right into a tree, and at first he laughed. That laughter quickly died when he saw the tree come down, and he held an arm up to keep Luke from going any further. Glaring at Alvaro, he heard the tree crash down in front of them and shook his head, taking a step back from the flying Digimon. "So you tell us not to hurt your precious tamer, but then you block us from leaving you and him alone. Are you normally this retarded, or is this attack just messing with your logistic skills right now?" Luke actually laughed at this, finding his tamer pretty comical during a time like this, being unable to take off some of the pressure of the situation.

Turning back to Boarmon and Vincent, Brett sneered at the tamer trying to capture him and shook his head. "I hope you're oh so proud of yourself. You take someone who was brought here unwillingly and give him the choice of fighting this beast for freedom, or just going with you. Just who the hell do you think you are?" Here, Luke coughed a bit to get Brett's attention before starting to give him a possible explanation. "Well I know that there was an attack on some apartments in Digital City, and apparently it was constructed by another Human. She's not like you and the others though. This one is evil, and is set on making the Digital World her own world, one formed to her liking. My guess is that this Vincent here either works for her, or is coming up with his own forces to take her down and gain control."

Here was where Boarmon screamed his attack and starting charging at Vincent, ready to crush him now that his Digimon partner wasn't there to protect him. As much as Brett didn't like the idea of another person being hurt, he knew that this was possibly his last chance at escape. "Well sorry to point this out to you Alvaro, but it looks like you can't have me and your tamer. Either you're going to have to protect Vincent, or keep us from getting away. And seeing as how you don't want Vincent to be hurt, I'm thinking it'd be best to cut your losses and just let us go." Luke nodded, and both of them were ready to make another dash to get around the tree and get back into the forest. From there Luke would lead Brett to the safety of Digital City.

((OOC: Not sure if you realize it Chameleon, but I really can't do much. I don't have my cards yet, because I haven't been in Digital City. So I'm pretty much SOL as far as battling Boarmon, and I'm sure that Vincent could kick my ass too. This is really my only chance at escape. Just wanted to point that out to you.))

"In case you didn't notice, I was trying to crush Boarmon under a tree," Alvaro responded, his civility shining through his voice. He was, indeed, trying his best to not lose his temper in his rage and desire to protect his Tamer. "However, it does seem that you do not wish to deal with us ..." the Patamon stated, soaring back to his Tamer before stunning the Boarmon with a compressed blast of air.

"Air Shot!"

Vincent sharply exhaled, tapping his D-Ban while sidestepping the boar. He did not escape without a wound and his knee was gored by the charging Digimon. "Alvaro!" he yelled, the Patamon starting to change as soon as the last syllable was uttered. A stream of flickering bits shot out from the screen, wrapping the orange mammal in many layers of data.

"Holy Angemon!"

The creature had reformed into an angel Digimon, surging through the air and holding Vincent within his hands.

"Later."

Vincent smirked, Alvaro carrying him away from the battlefield. Luke and Brett had got what they wanted. They were rid of him, but would they be rid of the Boarmon? The teenager shrugged in the Holy Angemon's grasp, motioning for Alvaro to land some distance away. They were away from the battle, but still within the vicinity of the forest.

"You seem oddly attached to them, Vice," said a meek Alvaro, stepping to the boy's side. "Why would you not leave them alone?"

Vincent, or rather, Vice Duco glanced around at then at the ground. He chuckled under his breath, the laughter steadily growing louder. "It's fun to watch things if they're like ..."

"... a movie."

Vice smirked at Alvaro, and tapped his partner on the shoulder.

((If I'm actually able to get to Digital City without anymore problems, then this can be wrapped up and I'll post in Digital City. If I get DEP, which I'm assuming I do for this thread? then just let me know in here so I can edit it into my Profile and all that. ^^))

That was funny Alvaro said that, as Brett actually didn't notice that he was trying to crush Boarmon. It seemed pretty clear that he was simply blocking Brett and Luke from escaping, especially since the Digimon wasn't even near there. But before he could snap back at the flying pig (that's what he was thinking of the damned captor's partner) it was flying back towards his tamer. Luke knew that there was no time to waste, and they immediately started running, getting around the tree and dashing into the forest. On their way, they heard Alvaro call out an attack, and then Vincent yelling something, probably to get them to come back.

When Luke looked, he saw Alvaro change, and soon he was an angel looking Digimon, bigger, and obviously more powerful than before. He didn't want Brett worrying though, so he pushed ahead, continuing on and forcing Brett to do the same. But Brett couldn't help but notice Vincent being flown off in the sky, and he was being held by a different Digimon than the Patamon he knew. "Who the hell is that?" Brett asked, knowing very well who it was before he even asked. "Don't worry about it, we just need to keep moving."

Luke was now in front of Brett leading the way, and he was going to get him to Digital City where he'd be safe. At least as safe as one could hope, what with the vast number of other tamers there. The one attack that there had been supposedly actually left a few tamers dead, but it was probably only a few because of the great defense they had. Granted, it clearly wasn't good enough to be able to easily fend off Insomnia, but it was enough that it gave Brett a good chance of finding safety. Even if Boarmon followed them there, that beast could probably be able to be easily defeated. And chances that he would follow them were incredibly low, seeing as how he was so intent on Vincent and Alvaro. He was probably too distracted by them flying off that he actually forgot about him and Brett, and hopefully didn't see them getting into the forest.

But would that be enough, and would they be able to get to Digital City without anymore problems? Or would Boarmon prove to not have gotten distracted and be chasing them, probably taking down quite a bit of the forest to get to them. Maybe he would have gone elsewhere, but perhaps Vincent would show up again, this time none too friendly. And if that didn't happen, Luke knew very well that other things could pop up in this forest to get them. He just didn't want to see Luke being taken by the evil forces and being made to side with them, going against the cause of his calling.

Boarmon growled, tossing his head into the air and shuffling around in apparent confusion. In his rage, he had lost both his prey and was currently wandering around like a lost sheep in the middle of the clearing. Enraged, he growled and yelled, at the same time, stamping around while driving his tusks into the nearby trees. All that he was doing only served to make him all the more hungry.

However, there was nothing he could do.
