Title: Tas Vs. Danu
Description: Preliminary Round

Phantom - April 5, 2010 05:36 AM (GMT)
Tarukae walked into the stadium, Danu by his side. The thundering applause of the audience felt delightful. Tarukae was wearing old fashion feudal Japanese clothing. Tarukae made motions with his arms to tell the crowd to keep cheering. Tarukae smiled in delight. Danu was kind of scared of the big coliseum. Tarukae slapped Danu on the back, noticing Danu's fear. Tarukae smiled, Danu nodded his head. Tarukae had his new card in his left hand. He was ready for anything.

"Danu, ready?" Tarukae asked.

"Yes, Taru-sama!" Danu cheered in return. Tarukae's slap on the back seemed to cheer him up. Tarukae smiled and waited for his opponent.

Fenrir - April 6, 2010 12:51 AM (GMT)
"Well..." Riley muttered to himself as he walked through the coliseum entrance. Immediately he was hit by the roar of the crowd. The thundering cheers alerted him and Tas. Neither had experience anything like this before and the adrenaline that existed in the waiting room rose to a new all time high. "...shit."

The two slowly walked out a little further into the depths of the arena. Riley shyly waved his hand, acknowledging the crowd, but more importantly, his other partner Baren, who decided not to compete but to spectate as Tas could use more experience. The two stopped a decent distance from his extravagant opponent draped in old Japanese clothing. Riley's face remained straight but he snickered in the back of his mind. A samurai, huh, he thought sarcastically.

"Hey," Riley called out to his opposite. "I'm Riley, this is Tas. You can take the first move," he added. But good luck, he thought. He looked down at the eager V-mon. "You ready big guy?"

Tas didn't glance back at Riley with his eyes already focused on the other tamer's partner, an Agumon. "Always."

Phantom - April 6, 2010 01:01 AM (GMT)
"Name's Tarukae this is Danu," Tarukae introduced themselves. Tarukae soon grabbed two cards from his pocket. "You said me first, well them time for Alpha!" Danu knew what that combo was and with the help of Digimental of Darkness he became a Fladramon. Tarukae slashed the two cards right as Danu evolved. Danu's speed had enhanced and he dashed to his enemy. Danu went for a fiery fist at Tas.

Fenrir - April 6, 2010 04:30 AM (GMT)
"Well, you're quick," Riley muttered under his breath. Tarukae's digimon quickly evolved and sped towards Tas quickly. The V-mon had yet to evolve and the Fladramon's obvious increased speed was something that Riley had to quickly respond. As an experienced tamer, he was pretty quick with cards, a skill that he learned throughout his battling experiences. He slipped one card through the white and gold D-Ban just before Danu's fist met Tas.

The Twilight Timer froze the Fladramon in time allowing Tas to make his move. The blue digimon quickly shot up and Riley's D-Ban lit up. "Digivolve to..." Tas glowed white and his body shifted to a larger, dragon-type. "XV-mon!"

The matured Adult level roared and with his new wings bolted into the lit sky and to the roar of the crowd. As he grew near a comfortable height he paused and shifted his body down so his belly faced the frozen Danu.

"X-laser!" Tas roared as a powerful laser attack shot from his stomach heading towards his opponent.

[EDIT: Sorry, forgot about adding the card. >_>

Name: Twilight Timer
Number: C39
Type: Single Target
Duration: 1 Turn
Effect: Completely immobilises one opponent Digimon for a single turn.]

Phantom - April 6, 2010 07:10 PM (GMT)
"Denied," Tarukae quickly slipped a card through his card reader. At that moment a cube of light surrounded Danu, protecting him from the blast.

"Thanks, Taru-sama," Danu thanked Tarukae.

"No problem, now try this!" Tarukae with a big elaborate move sliced another card. "We aren't going to lose!" At the moment his card was sliced an arrow was shot at his enemy. The arrow sped through the air. Tarukae knew this card had a guaranteed hit. At that thought Tarukae smirked.

Name: Rapid Arrow
Number: C28
Type: Single Target
Duration: N/A
Effect: An arrow that never misses shoots the target opponent Digimon for 20 guaranteed points of damage.

Name: Divine Box
Number: C07

Fenrir - April 7, 2010 10:50 PM (GMT)
Tas grimaced as the incoming arrow flew towards him. Before he could blink it pierced him in his shoulder, leaving a stinging pain. The arrow dematerialized and the digimon's shoulder looked unharmed. The arrows resulting pain bothered Tas but was not much compared to what the XV-mon had faced before. His hovering gradually decreased until he met the floor, dissatisfied at his failure to harm his opponent. He grunted and slapped his tail hard on the floor in frustration.

"Why don't you come out of your little box," Tas snapped. The irritation was easily recognizable in his voice. He may not have been the strongest digimon in the tournament, but he expected to win and compete at a high level. He was not expecting any obstacles throughout any of the tournament, especially in the first round.

"Don't push it, Tas," Riley said calmly. The tamer had grown in battles and during his experiences fighting other tamers, cards would be very prominent throughout. He slipped a card of his own through his D-Ban before focusing on his opposite, Tarukae. "His shield will go down eventually, so we'll have to wait. Be patient."

Name: Zero Hour
Number: R27
Type: Single Target
Duration: 3 turns
Effect: Prevents the target from using any offensive skills for 3 posts.

[The card is being used on Danu.]

Phantom - April 8, 2010 12:42 AM (GMT)
Tarukae laughed manically. Then he turned his attention to the audience. "Look at this man! He made it impossible for me to attack, and right before I was going to leave the Divine Cube! Don't you guys want to see some action?! Well I guess he ruined it for you!"

After Tarukae's speech the audience began to boo Riley. Exactly what Tarukae wanted, Tarukae wanted to destroy the morale of his enemy. Tarukae smirked an evil smirk as the audience booed.

"How does it feel? The audience turned against you," Tarukae asked Riley as he tried to hold back his laughter.

(I hope it is okay that I controlled the audience)

Fenrir - April 9, 2010 05:04 PM (GMT)
The loud boos of the crowd echoed throughout the open stadium creating an eerie, awkward situation for Riley. Any knowledgeable fans would have realized that since Tarukae put up a shield blocking Riley from any attacks, it would only be fair for him to do something similar. In his mind he did the wise and smart thing and the crowd wouldn't be booing in the first place if Tarukae hadn't set up the divine box around Danu.

"You're fine Riley!" A familiar voice roared out through the crowd. "He's the fool in a dress! Tell him to get out of his box!" Baren's deep voice seeped through the audience's boos and a small grin rolled up on Riley's cheek.

"How does it feel? The audience turned against you."

"It's alright," Riley replied calmly, trying to stay cool. While he tried to remain relaxed the crowd did seem to have a slightly noticeable effect on him. "We'll see who's laughing at the end."

Tas glared at the Fladramon. His frustration only grew at the tamer's boasting and bickering. He and Riley knew that the XV-mon could evolve to his perfect level and easily win the fight and it wasn't something Tas was opposed to. But staying at the adult stage would provide more of a challenge to himself as well as his opponent and ultimately the energy would better be saved if the two move on to later rounds against more difficult opponents.

Phantom - April 9, 2010 07:19 PM (GMT)
Tarukae let out a sigh then slashed a card. Danu began to sing at that moment. It was a hypnotic and beautiful song that would make Tas go to sleep. Tarukae smirked as Danu's Divine Box faded away.

"Sorry, but Danu doesn't like pain," Tarukae commented as he knew his enemy was going to fall asleep. The biggest difference between Tarukae and other people was he didn't care if the crowd booed and Danu would only care if Tarukae was causing the criticism to him.

Name: Twilight Lullaby
Number: U35
Type: Single Target
Duration: 3 Turns
Effect: The affected Digimon sings a lullaby which causes all opponent Digimon to fall into a deep sleep. They can only be woken by a physical attack from an Adult-level or above; otherwise they will sleep for three turns.

Fenrir - April 10, 2010 01:04 AM (GMT)
"Pain is something you're going to have to deal with in this world, man." Riley sighed. Tarukae slightly reminded him of himself when he was first in the digital world. Before he learned of the true nature of the world the only thing that mattered to Baren and himself was fighting to get stronger. He remembered the time that Baren evolved to GrappLeomon in order to defeat Macio who was just a child at the time. Riley shook his head. Tarukae was going to learn somehow and someday, but for now, he seemed to be lost in the heated quarrels that many younger and inexperienced tamers faced. "How long have you been here?"

The crowd rose in boos once more, this time directed towards Tarukae's card effect. The first few moves of the battle were very lackluster and consisted of constant defenses and protection of the two digimon. Riley remained easy when Tas fell asleep. He too, had "Twilight Lullaby" and was aware of it's effects, but also had a few tricks up his own sleeve and he slashed another card through his d-ban in hopes of bringing the crowd back into the match a little more.

Name: Lightspeed Arrow
Number: U18
Type: Single Target
Duration: N/A
Effect: A mysterious arrow appears briefly, immediately hitting affected opponent from any angle, guaranteeing 30 points of damage.

Phantom - April 10, 2010 03:21 PM (GMT)
Danu tried to dodge the attack, but it hit him directly in the left arm. Danu's left side went down from the weight of the blow, but he got back to his regular stance as soon as possible. Danu knew that he couldn't counter, and that thought pained him to know he couldn't help his master.

"Danu, I will use a lot of your energy, but it will be worth it," Tarukae said as he took out one card, and sliced it. The moment he did four missiles appeared in the air. Tarukae directed all of them to attack Tas, hopefully creating a massive explosion.

Name: Homing Missile
Number: R30
Type: Multi-Target
Duration: Until missiles hit target(s)
Effect: Four heat-seeking missiles appear out of nowhere, fly toward the opponent and explode on contact, causing fifteen points of damage per missile. The projectiles can also split up to follow multiple opponents, and have at least one guaranteed hit.

Fenrir - April 10, 2010 07:56 PM (GMT)
[You can use the darkscar gem but you attacked after only waiting two turns not three. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you still can't attack. And did the arrow hit Danu?]

Zander Steele - April 16, 2010 03:57 AM (GMT)
(Time limit's up, Fen. Sorry about this. ^^;

Phantom, go ahead and make another post. Remember though that Fenrir has another five days to post before he's automatically disqualified, so no instant-kills, and no god-moddign what you don't have access to.

On another note, Zero Hour would only stop the Digimon's attacks, not a card's effect.)

Phantom - April 16, 2010 11:22 PM (GMT)
Tarukae watched as the missiles hit their target. Tarukae laughed sadistically, and then realized Zero Hour wore out! This was the moment to strike! To kill his prey!

"Danu, by my command attack with FIRE ROCKET!" Tarukae ordered. Danu shook his head in understanding. Danu surrounded his body in fire and shot himself towards Tas, going in for a powerful tackle.

(If it isn't okay that the missiles hit, then I will change my post.)

Fenrir - April 17, 2010 05:11 AM (GMT)
[Phantom edited his post completely on the 12th, so I thought I'd have more time. Not a huge problem though. >_>]

As the missiles rose up into the sky, Riley swore under his breath. Tas was left sleeping and unprotected and the four projectiles were moments from collapsing on the adult digimon. There were plenty of "oohs" and "ahhs" from the crowd while the missiles danced through the night sky. The tamer had little time to react and his only hope was to use cards to defend his helpless partner who was casually sleeping away as the velocity of the missiles increased when they dipped towards Tas.

"Sorry about this Tas," Riley said. He had no cards to protect his partner from the missiles and now he had only seconds before Danu, free from Zero Hour's control, unleashed his attack.

The missiles crashed to the ground leaving an array of booming sounds and dust and smoke. The fog gradually faded away, leaving Tas about ten feet from where he was sleeping before with visible scrapes and bruises over him. There were two large indents in the ground and it was easy to see two missiles didn't come into contact with Tas. It was later visible that one of the missiles hit him directly due to the injuries, and another came incredibly close, but all it could do was send large enough vibrations to send Tas flying ten feet through the air.

As painful as it was to see that Tas was hurt and Riley couldn't do anything about it, he still needed to find a way to block Danu's attack. Quickly he slashed a favorite card of his through his d-ban. Suddenly, just before the Fladramon could finish his assault, a golden shield appeared in front of Tas, blocking his opponent's attack completely.

The teenager understood that the battle could be won easily and he liked the fact that his opponent, Tarukae, possessed a certain confidence and the expectations for his partner were incredibly high. While it appeared Tas was the weaker one at the moment with him being asleep and already hit by an arrow and a missile, Riley knew Tas had dealt with much more than attacks like these. His natural competitiveness seemed to be taking over and he wasn't going to let Danu make any more moves that could prove to be harmful any more.

Name: Golden Shield
Number: R49
Type: Weapon
Duration: Remainder of the battle
Effect: Either the user or their Digimon receives a shining gold shield that can block any and all attacks from Adult-level Digimon or lower. The shield disappears after blocking one Perfect-level attack.

Phantom - April 17, 2010 05:26 PM (GMT)
Danu bounced off the shield as he hit it. Danu started to move around drunkly from hitting his head on it. He quickly got back to normal though.

"Golden Shield, eh?" Tarukae looked at the shield. "Well I guess it is time for Omega U!" Tarukae took out two cards. "This is our last shot, Danu!" Tarukae sliced all two cards as fast as he could. Danu then started to grow, much larger. His body now surrounded in silver armor. He had a cyborg appearance now. He grew dark purple wings. He now was MetalGreymon! The moment Danu changed Tarukae heard cheers of excitement from the audience. "How will your shield deal with this! Danu, use Giga Destroyer!"

"Yes, master," Danu replied with his new deeper voice. Danu shot two missiles from his chest. One of them went for Tas's front, the other diverted itself to go towards Riley. Tarukae had to make this shot count. He knew that Danu was reaching his limit.

Barrenx2 - April 18, 2010 04:36 PM (GMT)
((Sorry to have to step in here, but it's been brought to my attention that Danu still has 1.9 DEP. You're only allowed to use two cards at a time right now. When he hits 2.0, then you may use three cards at once, but I'll kindly ask you to edit your post to compensate for this error. :^,^:))

Fenrir - April 18, 2010 06:24 PM (GMT)
Tarukae abused cards faster than anyone Riley had met or fought with. If Danu were to lose, it would be his tamer's fault. The now MetalGreymons energy was noticeably falling due to the overuse of cards. Tas hadn't landed any significant attacks but it appeared that Danu was suffering the most during the battle. Tarukae's treatment of his partner made Riley feel much better about himself.

"You're going to regret this, Tarukae," Riley called out through the combined roar of the crowd and the humming of the MetalGreymon's flight. "You still have a lot to learn." The newly evolved Digimon would have too strong of an attack and the golden shield wasn't available to the sleeping Tas

Danu launched his powerful attack and in return Riley swiped a card and immediately a blue tinted force field surrounding the sleeping XV-mon. The missiles surrounded with powerful energy faded into the field and didn't leave a mark on Tas. There was a strong sense of surprise and awe in the crowd to see that the Ultimate level Digimon failed to land his powerful attack.

One more missile head straight for Riley. He had little time to react and in the golden shield was at a close distance. With no time to think he quickly darted towards the safety of the large circle. When he reached it, he pulled the humongous shield over him and laid under it. The shield was curved so that Riley fit under under without being stuck underneath it. The missile collided with the shield and the golden disc broke to pieces, while defending Riley from the attack. There was a pause and emotions of worriment and anxiety swept over the crowd when they saw the missile head towards an unarmed human. Riley took a deep breath. He was quick and a strong rush of adrenaline propelled him to take the sprint to the shield. As relieved as he was to be okay, his anger with Tarukae had never been at a higher level.

"What the hell do you think you're doing? Are you fucking insane?" Riley's tone took a much more vicious and angry shift. "This is a tournament, not a damn fight for your life!"

He then sliced one more card, remembering to keep to his strategy. Tas in his sleep mumbled to himself a soft hum that sounded something in between peaceful and slumberous, sending Danu into a deep sleep. Soon Tas would awake and Riley would finish his opponent off for good next time.

Name: Magic Barrier
Number: R15
Type: Single Target
Duration: Remainder of the battle
Effect: As long as the affected Digimon stands reasonably still, a force field impenetrable to any Digimon with under 4.0 DEP will surround it. This field will disappear as soon as the Digimon moves from its current spot, but reappears as soon as the Digimon stands still again, vanishes again when they move, and so on.

Phantom - April 19, 2010 12:34 AM (GMT)
"Victory," Tarukae started saying with a whisper. "IS ALL THAT MATTERS!" Tarukae's whisper changed into a vicious roar. Tarukae actually roared as he ripped his katana from its sheath. "I know this is a fight between digimon, but my is busy at the moment. So I will take his place!" Tarukae sliced a card the moment he said that and a sabre appeared in his hand.

Tarukae had reached a crazy adrenaline rush. His body was literally shaking from excitement. He laughed in happiness at his enjoyment. Tarukae then charged the giant barrier. Tarukae then tried again and again to destroy the shield with his sabre and katana. He had to win! That was the only thought going through his head.

Name: Silent Sabre
Number: C57
Type: Weapon
Duration: Remainder of the battle
Effect: Either the user or the affected Digimon acquires a lightweight sword that allows for an attack at twice the wielder’s regular speed, and at their regular power level.

Zander Steele - April 19, 2010 01:59 AM (GMT)
(Hey Phantom. I guess wherever I mentioned about Tamers getting involved in the battle personally slipped away somewhere, but it has been added to the rule page now. Since it wasn't there by this post, it's allowed, but no more personal involvement besides using items and cards, and ONLY to support the Digimon partner. Sorry for the trouble, but this is a Digimon tournament at the core. Tamers are a support system.)

Fenrir - April 22, 2010 04:35 AM (GMT)
Tas' big blue eyelids flicked until his sight became focused once more. Casually, he arose from his rest, and in a quick moment he shifted from a lazy awakening to a focused mentality as Tarukae charged towards him. Instinctively, his wings thrust threw the air and he evaded the oncoming tamer, soaring through the air as he regained his concentration on the sleeping Danu.

"I hope you find out for yourself what this place really is someday," Riley said coldly. "But you're going to learn the hard way."

Tas understood that the battle needed to be one quickly. He was in pain from the missile launching and Tarukae's cards had severely worn down the sleeping MetalGreymon, Danu. So when Riley slashed two cards, he positioned himself high in the dim sky to face his sleeping opponent. A very strong rush of strength and power engulfed the XV-mon and the feeling of a strong hidden energy source began to conjure inside of him. His eyes locked on Danu, he roared and a huge laser of dark blue energy erupted from his torso and headed for the perfect level digimon at an accelerating pace, it seemed almost impossible for it's powerful blast to miss the sleeping digimon.

Name: Trinity Attack

Type: Single Target
Duration: Remainder of the battle
Effect: Triples the affected Digimon’s attack power.

Name: Checkmate
Number: R04
Type: Single Target
Duration: Single Use

Phantom - April 22, 2010 07:08 PM (GMT)
"I'm sorry, Danu," Tarukae whispered. "But I have to try!" Tarukae sliced a card. The moment he did a cube of light surrounded Danu. "Stalemate!" Tarukae said as he watched the attack fail. "That is my last defensive technique."

Name: Divine Box
Number: C07
Type: Single Target
Duration: 3 Turns
Effect: A cube of light materialises around whatever the user wishes (be it a Digimon, person, object or building), and completely protects it from any attack from an Adult-level Digimon or below. If used on a Digimon, it will regain ten points of health every turn for three posts.

Fenrir - April 24, 2010 03:49 PM (GMT)
"Give it up, you're just hurting your partner at this point." Tarukae was just prolonging the inevitable by using a weak defense card against the enhanced XV-mon. Riley understood that his opponent had a strong competitive drive, but enough was enough, and when your partner was weak due to the abuse of cards, there was a time to stop. Unfortunately, Tarukae did not seem to understand that and it left Riley to do the dirty work. "I didn't want to do this."

He dug a hand through the top of his shirt and pulled out his crest. It laid on his chest, bounded by a thin chain. The insignia began to glow a bright, golden hue and Tas began to shine as well. The light glistened throughout the stadium and the crowd started to take increased notice to Tas.

"Digivolve to..." The Digimon's wings grew and his body shaped out to be more massive and bulkier. His snout, claws, and feet were covered in a bone white armor and the bottom of his wings had a maroon tint that surrounded the small slits in the appendage. His appearance grew much more menacing and his size increased more than twice of his adult level. "...Aero V-dramon!"

The new perfect level digimon rose to a sky at an alarming fast pace, demonstrating fluid movement and efficient flight. When he reached the peak of the coliseum, the dragon dove downward with the tip of his horned nose dipped below to target the sleeping Danu. "V-Breath Arrow!" The dragon's roar echoed throughout the arena and the majority of the crowd rose to their feet. Tas opened his mouth and revealed plenty of sharp and long fangs and a blast of energy shot out from the back of his throat and was targeted at his sleeping opponent, the power tripled from what it usually stood to be.

Phantom - April 24, 2010 10:43 PM (GMT)
"I guess it is over. We did all we could," Tarukae whispered to himself. "Danu I am sorry! I pushed you to far for victory!"

The moment his words were said the Divine Box was destroyed and Danu was hit. Danu degenerated to Koromon form. Tarukae went over and picked him up.

"Good fight, you win," Tarukae said as he left the stadium with the sleeping Danu.

Fenrir - April 30, 2010 03:03 AM (GMT)
"Thanks." Riley's eyes lazily followed Tarukae's exit. The normal thrill of victory didn't take over him and he looked tired and beat after an exhausting and frustrating battle. The duo expected to win but not to take this long and digivolve all the way to perfect in order to beat Danu. Tarukae's use of cards caused a deal of struggle but in the end it was a benefit to Riley as the Agumon's energy perished rather quickly.

Tas waited for his opponent to leave before de-digivolving back to V-mon. The crowd applauded his efforts and he smiled in return. Riley was confident in his partner that they could go pretty far in the tournament. While they needed to use the crest today, he was sure that their best was yet to come. "Good job, man. On to the next round, huh?" The V-mon nodded tiredly, but still eager to continue on with the tournament.

[Eh, weak post, but it gets the job done. Can a mod lock this up seeing that we're done here?]
