Title: Digimon: Digital Dreams!
Description: Project Planning

Pogono - November 23, 2009 03:34 PM (GMT)
As seen from here on, people have interest in writing either a fanfic or script or something similar for a fake DD anime. Because it will be a bkig project and can easily fall through with lack of interest, I'd like to see what idea people have and what they want to do with the project before we have any solid ideas.

I'm leaning towards a script or fanfic much like Fangren's famous and wonderful Fanfic 'Project M' or a sequel. With pictures :d

Anyway, people, post ideas and what you're like to do.

Edit: Please note: I will busy until late Tuesday.

Feel free to edit or ask to have any quote taken down.

Quotes beforehand about said project:

I WANNA SEE DD IN A SERIES

o.O holy crap guys, I said that for the LULZ. FOR THE LULZ. XD

Well I don't think i have much imput on this situation about the script. But from what I read of plot events and adventures of a lot of people before joining is that you have enough ideas to make the script possible. Though this is just my opinion, It would be awsome to me and would make DD one of the most memoriable sites for almost the rest of my life.

DD: I think i would be totally cool 't make up scripts based off the many different storylines and whatnot running throughout Dgital Dreams. Of course, always pictured Lexi's storylines wre something like the anime. ^^

But either way, I'm all for making scripts. It would rock =D

It would be nice to see a fanfic on DD in general, or an anime script. However: what of the less popular characters or new people who join DD? It wouldn't be fair to develop a character more than another just because s/he is more prominent, seeing as everyone's character is in the mix ... but either way, seeing your character featuring in a DD production would rock all the same and is reward enough.

I'm good for script stuff being done and we could even supplement the story with art, so yeah. Let's go do this, minna-san.

As far as a DigiD script, I'd like to help. ^^ It would take a lot of finangling(more so than maybe an actual Digimon Series script) because there are so many characters and so many varieties of characters. I would like to see a fanfiction for DigiD and maybe what could happen is that Cleo could orchestrate it, the order of it, and ask various members to write the chapters for their characters. Many of the characters, unlike the anime, have never met each other or been around each other so it would mean a lot of swapping between characters so that none of them fall behind. We'd also have to keep the audience interested and unconfused. Stargate Universe has a wide variety of characters and I must say, it took them a while to smooth out somethings.

Also there's the matter of how accurate the script would stay to the character's storylines...

*cough* I'm all for the script and I'd love to to assist in any way necessary. ^^ It seems like a fun adventure and maybe it could be converted into a fanfiction and posted on Fanfiction.net or something. We'll see. ^^

Considering I never read Project M(I don't ever plan to either considering its length), I am against making this project a sequel to it because I'm sure I am not alone in never having read Project M. Now then...

I think we should do a Fanfiction completely free from Project M about the current characters and what they're doing. If it was a fanfiction, we could post it places like Fanfiction.net and various other Fanfic archives.

Laiko - November 23, 2009 05:29 PM (GMT)
I'm the same about Project M, it would be far better for us to come up with our own plot.

I don't have any suggestions now, but I'd be willing to help with this I suppose ^^ I could also make an account on DA for it as well, if nobody would have minded the story going up on there.

Pogono - November 23, 2009 05:31 PM (GMT)
Alright, seems we're leaning towards a new fanfic. Would anyone be offended if I added quotes from the other page to straighten everything in one thread?

Zander Steele - November 23, 2009 09:11 PM (GMT)
I know I wouldn't. In fact, if we post this in multiple sites and state that is a fanfiction based on a real RPG site, we may even draw more members to the site ^^

I have an FA account i could post this up on if no one minded. My stuff on there is clean anyways, so it would be safe for others to read.

Aqua-chan - November 23, 2009 09:34 PM (GMT)
I agree with Lai lai and Losty, this project should be something seperate of Project M. But we should at least keep one idea from it, and do previews of upcoming chapters. ^^

For the fanfic itself. Each time I imagine DD as an anime, I keep picturing the main cast as the Light Tamers (Lexi, Zack, Riko, Ryuha, Cyrus, and Riley). But it won't work if we focus everything on those five, though it is a starting place.

More importantly, we do need to decide who is part of them main cast and who are a part of the supporting cast. ^^

EDIT: I added Cyrus into the main cast. Forgive me for not including him Losty XD *hug*

Otterly Lost - November 23, 2009 09:36 PM (GMT)
We could just you know... make a new Fanfiction.net account specifically for this project. And we could also post standalone short stories and things that happen outside of the fanfiction or we just couldn't fit in. We could post the password on the staff board for the account.

Edit: I don't believe that one side should get the main focus and in fact, I think it would make the fanfiction more original if we first focused on the neutral side. Hikari(for now she is neutral), Eric, Piedmon, etc.

AoRyuha - November 23, 2009 10:33 PM (GMT)
Nah, nah, nah, tighten the focus and think bigger people.

I've often considered the logistics behind large-scale projects such as this. Being and animation nerd and a student of the art of storytelling, I've learned that there are few things riskier for a big project than allowing it to be too loose, it'll just fall apart.

The first season (and only the first season) of Heroes might be a good example to look to for general shape. It has the common element of a big cast, many members of which have never met each other. Thus it's a good model of how to split time between characters and where to draw the distinction between major characters who get a lot of screen time and more minor characters who boost the plot while being seen a lot less of.

As much as I love the idea of being fair, we can't realistically get a coherent plot out of giving every character equal relevence to the plot. Ensemble casts work fine, but anything with more than 10 'main' characters tends to confuse its audience and lose their patience. We would need strong leads for the audience to get attached to, but we could have pretty much no limit on our supporting cast.

Nextly we have to examine our talent pool, and after we note who's good at what, we have to decide who will actually do what. Planning is the key to good collaboration. And I think the most important question in the talent pool category is: do we have enough people who can draw consistently enough and quickly enough to actually make short animated segments? Because I'm sure everyone would agree with me that, were it possible, an actual fan animation project, even a very small one, would truly be the icing on the cake here.

If I have more thought, I'll be sure to post them post-haste.

Gachapon - November 24, 2009 12:33 AM (GMT)
Ten main characters could be the first character of the people involved, and since we do need some bad guys and stuff ... yeah. I don't think I want Insomnia XD

If I were to imagine DD as an anime though, it'd be rendered like The World Ends with You. Colourful and fitting for the trendier, though admittedly, not all the characters on DD come from Japan (or are fully Asian). XDD

Lucas - November 24, 2009 12:39 AM (GMT)
With the set-up we have here on DD, I was actually thinking of making the story run akin to how a short pokemon series ran, give a few eps to the different "myth" of DD, with each one starring a new character in about 3-4 episodes doing their own plot lines.

So eps 1-3 could be Cleo starting her journey.

Eps 4-6 shows fangren digivolving for the first time against a new foe, and maybe even meeting a friend named Laiko.

Ep 7 Shows Laiko story previous to meeting fangren.

Episode 8-11 picks back up with Cleo, who now is freeing a village from insomnia control.

Episode 12 Introduces Zander as a good guy.

Etc Etc...

Fangren - November 24, 2009 12:47 AM (GMT)
I'll gladly lend whatever help I can to this project...so long as it has nothing to do with Project M (because I'd prefer that series to just sort of fade away...). I myself have come up with some digimon-related plotlines (none of them stirctly DD-related, though), though the work on them was more or less lost when my old computer died, so...

Also, when considering how many main characters we are going to have, it is important to take the partner digimon into account. If we have ten "main characters", does that only include the good guys? Is it five humans and their partners? Or will there be fewer actual partnerships, with more non-partnered main characters?

Also, if full-out animation proves to be too much to deal with, what about, say, a webcomic? We could still have the visual element, and would be able to work on the art/script and still have regular content. It would also, I imagine, make an eventual transition to full animation easier...

Aqua-chan - November 24, 2009 12:59 AM (GMT)
I think a web coming would best suit this big project, I happen to know several artist at Deviantart (some of them are personal friends of mine) that could be willing to help us out.

Though, it might take some negotiation on the part of the foum as a whole (either than or we'll have to commission some poeple)

There are a lot of ideas and many possibilities to go about with this project. But I think we need to at least settle on one idea of what we plan to do. Ryuha made some very good points, we should give her ideas some though as well s everyone else's ideas.

Zander Steele - November 24, 2009 01:40 AM (GMT)
Agreed, to about everything. I wouldn't be a very big help in the art department, but I could help with writing and development.

AoRyuha - November 24, 2009 01:43 AM (GMT)
Yes, yes, I like the webcomic angle. I doubt we have the resources to ever make more than very short animated sequences anyway, so if they prove possible, we could focus them on critical scenes from the story.

Speaking of the story, yes, it should be strictly DD-based. That is one thing we all have in common after all. ^^

Aqua has a great point, let's narrow down exactly what we want to do first. Then we can survey talent, assign duties, and begin work with a fair degree of confidence in our success.

Pogono - November 24, 2009 01:44 AM (GMT)
If possible, I want to start choosing everything one by one - the format being first.

Also, this will be in a sub-board of it's own soon, with planning and such.

Fangren - November 24, 2009 01:49 AM (GMT)
Once we decide on the format, I've got some good ideas as to how we should handle the plot, assuming Insomnia will be the main villain...but as I said, I'll wait to explain until we've gotten the format down.

AoRyuha - November 24, 2009 02:18 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, the current planning approach is good, but I think we should talk about plot parallel to character-choice, since they have such a heavy influence on each other.

Also, I've activated the fast reply box. This thing is just too dang convenient.

Gachapon - November 24, 2009 02:43 AM (GMT)
I believe I can come up with character designs ... but it would be rather ... um ... well. XD
