Welcome to Desamarai
|
Moon Phase
|
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally. Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo...

Aramar River The annually-flooding Aramar River is deeper in the Rose hills than in the Elymian Fields. It rushes along, as if in a hurry, and becomes dangerous when it floods in the winter. The area around it is barren of houses, as the flooding only causes death- it does not carry the fertile silt that it brings to the Elymian Fields.

Ambisa River "Ambisa" in the old language, means "lazy", and the description is accurate. The Ambisa carries along slowly, resting at the Tanoir Lake and then dragging slowly along. It is only when it meets with the Aramar River that it speeds up into a frenzied pace. The banks of the river are clotted with plants in the summer and many people go swimming in the streams that run off the sides of the Ambisa.

Tanoir Lake The Tanoir Lake is simply a stop in the lazy flow of the Ambisa River. It is peaceful, with Deida reflected in its waters on one side and ruins on the other side. People often swim in it at night in the summer, and, if they are lucky, they are joined by Limnades- lake nymphs.

Ruins of Latayva Bordering the western side of the Tanoir Lake are the ruins of a once-great city. In the distant, almost forgotten past, when Desamarai was divided into city states, this city was the capitol of the greatest of them- Latay. But now the ruins crumble slowly, roses twining around the broken buildings.

Red Gully A long-gone stream carved a ditch through the Rose Hills. It has long since dried up but is now brimming with red roses. This gully wanders through the centre of the Rose Hills, and is usually abandoned, save for loving men from nearby villages seeking to get a rose for their darling.
