Welcome to Desamarai
|
Moon Phase
|
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally. Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo...

Alosso The small town of Alosso is built in the shadows of the ghostly white chalk cliffs, in a small cove. It is a cozy place, for the most part- gray stone cottages with windows glowing warmly squat on the grass that grows by the pebbly shore. It is a refuge, frequented by the royal family and nobles in the hotter months.

The Alosso Docks Along of the western side of the cove of Alosso are the docks. Fishing boats depart from here in the morning and return at night, and the occasional foreign boat arrives, bringing those seeking a scenic relief from the world.

The Pale Maiden Tavern & Inn Facing the sea, the sign of the Pale Maiden shows a woman dressed in white, standing at the edge of a cliff. It is a reference to the legend of the fair woman, Alosso, for whom the town is named. She loved her husband but he was taken by pirates and killed. She threw herself from the cliffs in grief, and has been remembered since. The cozy tavern has a nice display of furs, antlers, claws and carved bones from the Mayuden Forest, and a warm, crackling fire.

Mayuden Forest The Mayuden Forest is a forest of tall pines, grizzly bears, moose and silvery snowy nights. It is easy to get lost in- mostly it is only the trappers who know its ways. It snows here often, sometimes even in the warm months, and hides many secrets in its depths.

Chalk Cliffs Almost the entire Syfian coast consists of tall, solemn cliffs of chalk, whipped by the wind and buffeted by the sea. Grass tops the tall faces of white, and the wind is so strong in places that one may lean far off the edge of the cliff and not fall.
