> Welcome to Desamarai

Moon Phase

CURRENT MOON
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally.
Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

Announcements

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo... *nudge nudge wink wink*

Temple of the Sun
The Temple of the Sun stands in the very centre of Maikor, its lavish gardens and buildings taking up over a square mile of land. Old trees stand in the walk ways, the scent of incense floats from the open doorways of prayer buildings. However, the most prominent feature is the great stupa that stands in the middle of the temple grounds, like a golden mountain, with images from myths and history carved all over it. People flock here to pray every day and especially on sunny days, which are the most auspicious.

The Docks
Jutting into the sparkling waters of the Suphan Bay are many piers, most taken up by some variety of ship. It as very busy place, both night and day, with galleons arriving and departed, laden with goods. There are pirates here also, disguised as merchants, and the occasional warship, dark and intimidating among the colourful ships that fill the bay.

The Stilt Houses
All along the gently flowing rivers of the Kokang Delta are houses, standing on sturdy poles. They are open to the air, often with boats tied to their porches and dogs, cats, chickens and families watching the passers-by.

The Marketplace
Near the docks, the marketplace of Maikor is always crowded with people and colourful stalls. Fishers sell their catches, people from the forest sell fruits and woods and medicines and merchants sell their imported goods. There are also stalls selling food- spicy meats and fruity delights. It is a place of activity, noise and smells.

The Golden Staff Tavern & Inn
The Golden Staff is one of the most popular taverns in Maikor. It is located in the northern reaches in the city, on stilts above the water. It is famous for drinks with spices and fruits and rooms overlooking the river. It is a quite expensive place though, and many pickpockets find this a good place to earn money.
