> Welcome to Desamarai

Moon Phase

CURRENT MOON
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally.
Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

Announcements

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo... *nudge nudge wink wink*

Tetroneaque heard Red's warning of someone approaching and instantly started to shift into his full fox form. He began to shrink down and his bones shifted. Soon he looked just like any normal fox... except that he was purple and had three tails. It was the best he could do for now though. The fox-form Tetroneaque scampered up Red's side and into the branches with surprising ease and agility, hiding in an area thick with leaves. From his vantage point the only thing really visible were his eyes, and only if someone looked up at Red's branches.

"Make sure whoever it is doesn't touch my stuff. We don't need any more accidents today." Tetroneaque whispered, still capable of speech in his new form.

"Okay."
He squinted at the approaching man- a farmer by the looks of it, with a pitchfork at his side. A strand of hay still clung to one of the iron tongs.
He came closer, his square face frowning and well-aged. Red made sure to stand in front of the view of the clothes and called out to the farmer when he drew close enough, "Hello!"
What was strange was that the farmer didn't seem much surprised by this walking, talking tree-man. Instead, he seemed more disgusted.
"I though' I told ya tuh stay away from here."
Red worried. "Well I had to pass through, I'm going north again. I needed-"
"I don't care where yur goin', I just want ya tuh stay away from here, or else I'll take an axe to yuh."
"O-Okay..."
Red turned about to step out of the water, then realized he'd need the clothes. Clumsily, he tried to pick them up but his branch-arms weren't made for this- all his leaved got in the way. The larger objects he could get without too much trouble. But the smaller ones, like those gauntlets, he couldn't get.
Silently, he pleaded with Tetroneaque for help.
"Hey, what do yuh think yur doin' ? Why yuh clothes, yur a tree?"
Red looked around. "They're for a friend..."
The farmer looked very suspicious, hefted his pitchfork as if ready to attack.

A distant and familiar sadness calls to us
As if carried on the wind, like burning sand
Brothers and sisters, away, you endure
Stranded on our own land
A memory etched into soul and skin
Leaves a scar that never heals
Our family is strong, but scattered
Across the stars and fields
We will not abandon you
We will not forget you
We will return for you

Humans... Tetroneaque thought to himself and sighed inwardly. A plan quickly began to form in the crafty young kitsune's mind though. Perhaps this old human would prove entertaining, and allow Tetroneaque to practice his acting skills at the same time.

Tetroneaque hopped out of hiding and landed in front of the farmer. He sat up straight, fluffed out his tails, stared intensely at the human, and generally attempted to look as imposing as possible. To his credit he did a rather admirable job, what with being an adorable purple fox.

"I have witnessed your intollerant ways puny human." Tetroneaque stated, using his wind magic to amplify and distort his voice. It was a complicated trick, but effective at making Tetroneaque's voice boom like a titan's.

"Change your ways or you and everyone you care for shall suffer a terrible curse!" He continued, conjuring up a good gust of wind for dramatic effect. The wind was strong enough to cause the farmer to steady himself, or risk being knocked over.

"Heed my message and leave this peaceful being alone... or face the dire consequences!" To punctuate his little speech a bolt of lightning came crashing down from the cloudless sky, striking the road a short distance away.

The entire time Tetroneaque was trying to keep himself from laughing, or risk ruining his little act. The kitsune was quite confident the theatrics would scare the man away. Plus, there were othet options still available if the man proved too stuborn.

Red jumped back a little, starting to say, "Tetro-"
The man, meanwhile, stepped back, eyes wide. This creature, in his eyes, was much larger, a frightening beast flashing with the want to kill him.
He near wet himself from the fright of it, was rooted to the spot for a moment. And then, as the creature finished its speech, he turned tail and ran away, dropping his pitchfork in the grass.
And thus was formed a man who was mighty afeared of foxes and had a thing for watering all the trees in his vicinity.
Red laughed, he couldn't help it.
It hadn't been a nice thing but Tetroneaque's performance had been nothing short of spectacular, and the way that man had run...

Tetroneaque joined Red in laughing once the man was out of earshot. The fuzzy little fox was quite pleased with himself.

"You don't think the lightning was too much do you? I think I may have laid it on a bit thick." As he spoke he changed back to his normal, bipedal form and started gathering his items. They were still wet but he figured they'd simply have to dry as he walked. He didn't mind being nude out in the open, in fact the sun felt good on his fur.

"I guess we should get going though. I'll get dressed as soon as my stuff dries. Just warn me again if you see anyone else." He added with a sly wink.

Red had no answer but in laughter, standing there in the middle of the stream with those strange, raspy ent-chuckles that made his body creak. After some time, he voiced some sort of agreement to waiting until Tetroneaque's clothes dried.
He was in no particular hurry and he still hadn't absorbed enough water still to proceed with comfort. He calmed and closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep just standing there. With his eyes and mouth closed, he looked just like any other tree, save for the fact that he was standing in the middle of a stream.

Tetroneaque let out a sigh as he noticed Red fall asleep, in the middle of moving water none the less. The kitsune knew he wouldn't be able to wake Red, even if he wanted to. Heck, he couldn't even bring himself to get near Red right now as the stream blocked his path to the sleeping ent. So he did the best he could of the situation.

Using his wind magic a bit more, humming a cheerful tune the whole time, he used the wind to help dry out his belongings in a more timely manner. Soon everything was air dried and ready to wear again. Luckily no one else happened along the road during this time either, leaving Tetroneaque to dress in peace. He felt a bit more secure once his disguise was back in place.

"I guess I have to wait for Red to wake up. I do hope he doesn't take a long ent nap, otherwise I might be waiting around for years." Tetroneaque chuckled at the thought. He may not have really had anything urgent to do but sitting around waiting for a sleeping ent to reawaken was not his idea of a good time. He decided to give Red awhile though, not wanting to abandon his new friend. Tetroneaque found a nice boulder nearby, and sat down in the shade it made. Since his own nap had been interrupted earlier he decided to catch up on his own sleep as well. Soon enough he was snoozing too.
