Moon Phase

CURRENT MOON
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally.
Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

Announcements

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo... *nudge nudge wink wink*

Temple of the Moon
The Temple to the Moon looks like a palace, with tall, white towers that reach higher than any building in Deida. They are built around a courtyard, with a mother-of-pearl moon inlaid in the ground. In the middle of this moon is the tall statue of a marble Isiliah, to which people pray at nightfall. During the night, priests and priestesses study the stars in the towers, trying to predict the future.

Sibyan Zoo
There are several small zoos in Deida, but all are dwarfed by the Sibyan Zoo. Creatures from all over Desamarai and Echydnis are kept here, from unicorns to octopi, from gorillas to mermaids. Some consider it cruel, others are awed by it, and there are even some who capture animals and sell them to the zoo for high prices.

The Sermont Theatre
The Sermont Theatre is the most famous in all of Desamarai. It is a circular theatre, with a stage in the centre. Its balcony seats are the most expensive, while the rest vary in price. For a very small fee, people can stand and watch whatever is playing that night. all the best plays have been performed here, famous musicians often come to show their talent. Sometimes, there is even a bear-baiting or similar event, which is quite popular among the common folk.

The Marketplace
Close to the moon temple, surrounded by solemn white buildings, people gather every day and night to buy and sell. There is food here, most commonly- fish, mussels, clams, breads and meats- and trinkets from the ocean, and marble and silver Moon Goddess statuettes. But, odder things are for sale- roses that never wilt, moon fruits that induce visions, jewelry humming with magic, and many more mysterious things.

The Silver Medallion Tavern & Inn
A tavern with a nice atmosphere, the Silver Medallion is neither seedy nor classy, simply comfortable and cozy in cold weather, The drinks are nothing special, for the most part, and the rooms are clean but plain, but there is something sanctuary-like about the place.
