Welcome to Desamarai
|
Moon Phase
|
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally. Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo...

Lesova Close along the western coast of the Ice Wastes is the town of Lesova, which makes money by trading goods from the south with nomadic tribes of humans and Ice Elementals. These tribes bring back ivory and furs and meat from caribou and wolves. The town itself is made of marble from the Grogorum Mountains, stone streets lined with squat, warm buildings.

The Wolf's Howl Tavern & Inn As it is very shady place, most people avoid the Wolf's House. Black market traders often meet with nomads here, collecting outlawed magical artifacts to trade in the south. It is also known as a place of prostitution and odd herbs that cause one to see unreal things. But some simply come here because the rooms are cheap (though dirty) and the ale is strong (if bitter).

Gorgorum Glacier Unlike the Adyam Glacier, the Grogorum Glacier remains frozen all year round and it has no caves. It does not have the same odd presence of the Adyam Glacier as well, but it is larger, occupying much of the middle of the mountain range. It is mostly pbarren, save for wandering Ice Elementals and circling birds.

Dwarven Mines Over many thousands of years dwarves have tunneled into the depths of the Grogorum Mountains, mining the finest marble and gold. They often trade with humans, who use the marble to build cities and the gold to make jewelry. The mines still teem with dwarves, and they gather in villages under the ground, though they have no cities since they were massacred by the humans 4000 years ago.

Temple of Tagza One of the few dwarven relics to remain standing is the temple to their god, Tagza. It was hidden far too well- in the northern-most reaches of the mountains for humans to get to. It stands within the very base of a mountain, in a hand-carved cave. In the centre, under a portico, is a statue of Tagza, a wise old dwarf man with a long beard and a raven. He sits thinking in a throne, dreaming the futures of the world.
