Welcome to Desamarai
|
Moon Phase
|
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally. Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo...

He was shivering some, clutching to her. He knew it was Sephira, after the few moments of disorientation. She had the same feel, the same sort of sound in the air about her. Or at least, it was the only way he could think to describe it. And then she dropped and he felt his stomach fall out. It scared Veronion- he was not as in control as he usually was when flying and not having mediated this event it- But he lost himself to it, sudden exhileration, the feeling of being alive just to be in the sky, in the moving air again. They came close to the ground, the grass rushing in a green blur beneath them. He reached down a hand so it raced against his palm, he smiled and laughed at the sound of the grass rustling beneath, at the sound of the song playing through Sephira's horns. The were up again, and he felt the laughter pouring out now, without his control. And soon, far too soon, they were on the ground, and Veronion was standing. The exertion of his joy now took its toll- his head spun and he stumbled, crumbled and was on his knees, breathing shakily and unable to move. He didn't even get to look at the house, he was stuck so weak that all he could do was kneel here, clutching his head.

A distant and familiar sadness calls to us As if carried on the wind, like burning sand Brothers and sisters, away, you endure Stranded on our own land A memory etched into soul and skin Leaves a scar that never heals Our family is strong, but scattered Across the stars and fields We will not abandon you We will not forget you We will return for you

(Eep I totally forgot about this one cause it was hidden under another RP on the main page XD)
Once her shape had blurred back into itself she stood for a moment, brushing herself off, a little sad that she lived close enough to make it a short flight, but knowing that she couldn't stay too long in the air else someone spot her, and perhaps even recognize her for what she was. It was not that dragons were openly hunted here as such...they were fairly well known for cattle stealing at least and perhaps several of the farmers might take it upon themselves to try and deal with their 'cattle theif'. SHe didn't deny it, she did like the taste of raw beef.
Stretching out one callused palm to him she stood over Veronion, her shadow wavering on the ground from the aftermath of the shift, still unsure whether to be a dragon or a human. He certainly had seemed to enjoy being in the air again however, and the smile that had graced her lips from his laughter still stuck. Sephrenia rolled her shoulders, thinking of the work left undone. It was not much but she would have to make sure that she gathered the few cows she owned in or some stray creature might fly by and- She stopped, shaking her head and laughing softly. Perhaps she had been living easily in this lifestyle too long after all...

Nodding Seph gripped his arm, flinging it around her shoulder while one hand folded around his for support. First thing's first, let's get him somewhere where he's not going to fall over... Using her free hand she let the basket slide up her arm until it sat in the crook of her elbow, working the fiddly latch on the door and nudging it open with her boot. Glancing at Veron she flicked he mind out the doorstop several feet away sitting propped against the wall and dragged it over, wedging it there to keep the heavy wooden door in place. "Watch the step..hup..that's it...here.." Lowering them to the floor in front of the hearth which was strewn with a number of bright and colorful cushions, she eased him down and propped several under his head and shoulders. "Easy now Veronion.." Once she had seen to it that he was safely supported on his own she knelt in front of the fireplace, taking half a long from the wood basket and tossing it into the grate, murmuring as it burst into flames. Aye she was cheating a bit, using magic here and there. Old magic. The type they didn't so much use here...Sephrenia grinned. Good times. Home... "If you're still cold I can fetch blankets, food will be a little while...I'll have to fetch some water but if you're hungry I can always raid the larder." She slowly tipped back from her crouched position to sit on her haunches, kicking off the thick boots and wriggling her toes to the warmth, the dancing firelight catching her honey-hair and making it seem like her head were aflame.

Veronion stumbled a little as she guided him and then looked up, sank into the scene. There was warmth, no longer the endless churning of cold waves. He sat for only a moment, then slid down, curled up like a cat, his wings splayed out awkwardly, difficultly because they hurt more in any other position. He murmured something about not behind hungry and began to drift, his head spinning off in strange directions. He fell asleep, the firelight playing on his blonde hair, his golden skin turned a brilliant orange like sunset. His dreams came back. He could still feel his body bobbing in the ocean and he woke up in his head floating there, the sun high above, the water gentle all around him. And then Alauniira was there, atop him, holding him gently and stroked his hair. He smiled to see her, she rolled off and floated beside him. They stared up at the sky and when he looked back she was gone. He swam, tried to find her, and then began to sink, dragged down into dark blue depths. He woke up in the firelight, leaping up and then crying out with pain from his wings. He looked around wild-eyed, unable to understand where he was, to calculate the passing of time.

(*puts on Ice Ice Baby does same with Veron*)
He wanted to talk about it, he even opened his mouth but...she seemed troubled. More troubled about the thought of dreams than he was. He knew his was just a dream- he was out of the sea and Alauniira was gone. It was just his fear, his greatest fear of losing her forever. She had to be still alive, he knew it. Because he remembered still what it was like to feel her heartbeat close to his chest, to have her warmth and sky-scent surround him. And just faintly, every now and then in all those hours he'd spent drawn out in the restless sea, he'd sense it all again as if she were close by. She had to still be alive, he'd know if she was dead. "Do you really think that?" he asked seriously, wincing as he folded up his wings to make them more comfortable.

(Wow what a shiny floor we shall have! *starts spinning characters around*)
Seph looked up briefly, then turned to picking at her fingernails awkwardly. "I can think that..but not believe it." The low crackle and popping of flame as it sucked hungrily at the wood comforted the long silence that drew out. Sephrenia was not as much afraid of the dreams as the fact that she knew that what she saw, had happened once. It was like the visions that sometimes came, only the visions were infrequent, rare, the dreams, almost always happened. She rarely dreamed of the future anymore. Perhaps Mother wanted us to know something...how can you believe in these visions when you hardly believe in the past already? What if they weren't real...what if none of it is real..it's all a lie.. She caught herself as the thoughts wrapped around each other, two voices, one uncertain, the other giggling crazily in vast echoes, bouncing off the inside of her skull. She spoke, if only to drown out the sound of the uncertain insanity. "So..where abouts are you from? You don't look like you're the type to go floating around in the ocean for days...Maikor? Samaisor maybe? I'd guess somewhere near the angels.." A tight smile that drew little crinkles around her eyes formed, before it faded again, lost in the firelight.
