> Welcome to Desamarai

Moon Phase

CURRENT MOON
Two thousand years ago, there were two gods: Rayzaek, the God of Sun and Isiliah, the Goddess of Moon.
They were, of course, merely humans, humans with strange and unprecedented powers, humans who found each other and bent the whole of Desamarai to worship them.
They were lovers, they were saviors, they were the heralds of a great change, they could not last forever.
In the face of a kingdom falling apart, their love faded and they fought. They fought and retreated to their homelands- Rayzaek to Maikor and the south, Isiliah to Deida and the north. Here they split Desamarai into two, here they forever altered the world as they knew it, here they sewed seeds of discord to grow eternally.
Here they died.
Here they continue to shed blood.

Announcements

5/18/09 Lyra here! We've had a recent influx of members, which is wonderful. (:
I've just added some new boards for the Isellean and Pyndian Oceans. It's time to sail the high seas, eh? Indulge yourself in underwater towns, sea serpent mating frenzies, human sacrifices and shipwrecks, etc.!
In other news, I'm hoping to start up the plot proper sometime. But I can't until we have some Desarian Royalty and some proper religious leaders. Soooo... *nudge nudge wink wink*

"No matter, no matter. Some of us are simply not suited to the life we are born into...and so we make new ones, new paths for ourselves."
DImly he wondered what lie in store for him ahead, this path, seemed to lead to darkness, but at least there was the gentle guiding light of Isiliah to guide him.
He sensed her discomfort beside him and laughed softly.
"This man is sorry for making you feel uncomfortable. If it pleases you, he will walk the temple grounds and bother you no more."
His smile was sincere, apologetic, a hint of confusion in his eyes. These land walking people were not so different from those below the waves he thought. At least, not as different as was made out to be.

(My brain is stuck on a reply for this. xD Give it a bit.)

--------------------
A distant and familiar sadness calls to us
As if carried on the wind, like burning sand
Brothers and sisters, away, you endure
Stranded on our own land
A memory etched into soul and skin
Leaves a scar that never heals
Our family is strong, but scattered
Across the stars and fields
We will not abandon you
We will not forget you
We will return for you

She listened, still staring at her feet, and then looked up.
"No, please don't. I...I like having someone to talk to. I'm just...not good at talking."
She smiled weakly at him.
Yes, she was surrounded by people here, people who all believed in this same thing and supported each other for this same thing, this beautiful woman of their minds. But still she felt alone, she had since that moment when she'd found Esis in all her sin, tangled with him under the moon...
She hadn't had a proper friend or anything since then and her heart still was full of yawning pain for Nyosin, for that lovely Nyosin...

Ghost settled back where he sat, fidgeting with his sash, like a child too shy to talk.
His song seemed to be all over the place, like a child with a short attention span too, as his thoughts flicked from the angel beside him to the people all having strange visions, to his alchemy, to Isiliah herself.
He opened his mouth before he thought, then instantly regretted asking, in case people here held the sky as preciously as their gods.
"Why does Seridine work for the stars? What do they do..? Are they really..spirits?"
He blinked from where he sat, reclining backwards gazing up at the ghostly face.
"Sorry...this man believes things but the stars, they do not talk to him, he sees not how they help.."
His cheeks darkened slightly as he blushed.
(nipple changing color flashing dance!)

Seridine gave him a look. "It's alright. We don't really know what the stars are- it's hard to see."
She meshed her long fingers together neatly. "Some say that they are spirits. Or the true followers of Isiliah come to join her. Which is what we should all hope for, I guess."
She smiled lightly. "Whoever they are, they tell use things in their own silent ways. But they can never talk, only be read by us."

"This man has heard them talk..maybe.."
He seemed lost for a moment before a slightly sly, covetous look crossed his face, laced with mischief.
"I have no magic." He spread his hands as if to show he held no weapons, that he was merely as he was, everything right there, under the face of the moon, for a moment, almost ghostly in the pale light.
"But I can hear...lots of things. Things people don't hear. In the far far north...the sky lights itself, with bright, laces, curtains of flame..they shine so beautiful, and so terrible...this man never knows whether to be afraid..or to bask in their glory...but the sound..."
He tilted his head.
"Like a hundred thousand tiny bells, voices, so many sounds...so much emotion...all twisted up.." He smiled at the memory, the last time he had heard it, sitting on the ice flow, frozen in awe and dread at the same time, pleasure and pain welling up so tightly that when they suddenly faded, it left him aching from within.
"One day this man will go back, and sing with them."
He laughed, tucking his hands into his sleeves, gazing upwards at the tiny pinpricks of light, so very far away.
"Maybe then, they can tell us."
