~The Cursed Wave~

In the Epitaph of Twilight, the Cursed Wave is the name of the malevolent force that seeks to destroy the world. In order to destroy the Cursed Wave, they send two half-sprites (which cast a shadow) and a human to the Wavering Peninsula at the Edge of the World, accompanied by Fili the White and Bith the Black along the way.

The Cursed Wave is the name used by the .hackers to collectively refer to the 8 Phases of Morganna due to the fact they take the eight names of The Wave.

The Eight Phases of the Wave originally existed only in the Epitaph, but as Morganna began to malfunction, she made them into parts of herself, forming her own data into the monsters, and sending them to capture Aura and halt her growth. Despite their power, each of the Phases was eventually defeated by Kite and the .hackers.

~Skeith~

"Riding the Wave is Skeith, the Shadow of Death, to drown all that stands."

Skeith is the 1st Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Terror of Death. Skeith was a program designed to collect data on human emotions and reactions to death for the ultimate AI.

~Innis~

"Mirage of Deceit, Innis, Betray all with the flawed image, and did aid the Wave."

Innis is the 2nd Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Mirage of Deceit." Innis was a program designed to collect data on human reactions to deceit.

~Magus~

"And by the Power of Magus, a drop from the Wave doth reach the heavens, and creates a new Wave."

Magus is the 3rd Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Propagation." Magus is a program designed to collect data on the human need to procreate and preserve the species.

~Fidchell~

"With the Wave, Fidchell, the power to tell the dark future, hope darkens, sadness and despair rule."

Fidchell is the 4th Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Prophet." Fidchell is a program designed to collect data on the human concept of unavoidable fate.

~Gorre~

"Gorre schemes when swallowed by the Cursed Wave."

Gorre is the 5th Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Machinator." Gorre is a program designed to collect data on human cruelty.

~Macha~

"Macha seduces with the sweet trap."

Macha is the 6th Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Temptress." Macha is a program designed to collect data on human affection (but only that which arises from unrequited love).

~Tarvos~

"Wave reaches the Pinnacle, and escape none can. Tarvos still remains with more cruelty to punish and destroy."

Tarvos is the 7th Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Avenger." Tarvos is a program designed to collect data on human jealousy, revenge, and other dark emotions.

~Corbenik~

"And with the turbulent destruction after the Wave. Only a void remains. From deep within the void arrives Corbenik."

Corbenik is the 8th and last Phase of the Cursed Wave and was referred to as "The Rebirth." Corbenik completes the perfect AI by collecting the human emotions towards the meaning of life and death and the purity within their hearts.
