His face went solemn and he sighed, relaxing and hugging her softly. "I could never hate you," he said softly in her ear, "It was just... painful when you said those words. I didn't know what to do except to push you completely away. I really didn't want to, but I didn't want to hurt you any more than I already have."

He smiled softly and kissed away her tears. "You're beautiful, Lyta. I've missed you so much..."

[Nyaarhar]

"I'm sorry for all those horrible things I said. I thought... I thought it would be better if you found someone better than me, but... I don't want to see you with anyone else. I'm really selfish, aren't I? Even after all those terrible things I said, and I..." She paused to sniff. "Are you sure you still want me? You don't have to feel obliged if, you know, there's someone else..."

[Pher]

Gabe couldn't help the laughter that blurted out of his mouth. Before he could offend, he calmed himself, and said, "Someone else? Pffft. Lyta, baby, I don't want anyone else, and I know there isn't a soul that's as beautiful as you. And damn, that has got to be the corniest thing I've ever said."

He blushed slightly, and looked away from her to hide his embarrassment.

She huddled closer to his warm body, delighting in nothing more or less than his presence. "Well, I'm corny too, 'cause I was thinking the same thing. Gabriel, I know I've done horrible things, but I don't want to be that person anymore. Will you take me away from here? I want to... I want to be with you. And this time, I won't disappear."

[Pher]

"If you disappeared, I'd be one lonely son-of-a bitch." Then he said, "Thanatos, I summon you to human form."

After a few moments, the deity of death stood before them and he looked at Gabe. "What do you want, my nephew?" he asked in a bored tone, giving him a 'I-really-don't-want-to-be-here' look.

The Daimon stood and picked Lyta up. "Can you take us back to Vegas? Lyta made her decision." Thanatos rolled his eyes and nodded. Walking over, he jabbed Gabe in the forehead, which made him fall back and through the floor into darkness.

When he opened his eyes, he quickly grabbed Lyta again and pulled her out of the road. They were home.

It took Lyta a few long seconds before her mind caught up with her body. Although she could instantaneously travel just about everywhere, that mode was distinctly different. "Home sweet home," she said wistfully. Stretching up on tip-toes, she kissed him lightly on the lips.

[Pher]

"Ditto, love," he said, and then his stomach growled. "Um, well, I've been going without souls until I desperately need them since you've been gone. I didn't have the motivation to live." He laughed nervously. "Go to my house, I'll be there in a few moments. And the maids and butlers know you're coming to stay, so they're prepared."

[Nyaarhar]

She looked down guiltily. How could she have done something like that to him? Selfish.

When she looked up again, she gave him a mischevious grin, as her fingers gently squeezed the front of his trousers. "Don't take too long, Gabriel."

[Pher]

He flinched when she squeeezed him and before he could get distracted, he pulled her hand away. With a smile, he said, "I won't be. Now go."

Kissing her on the forehead, he turned and put on his shades, and then he disappeared around the corner.

Lyta stood in front of the door, paused after knocking very quietly, and decided to simply let herself in. The robe-ish dress she wore flapped in the almost non-existant breeze, until she closed the door. And, even then, it still had a floating quality to it as she walked towards where she remembered the living room to be.

Later, she reminded herself, she would have to thank Caerus. But now, she was content to wait for Gabriel to return.
