Title: Mortal Kombat: Conquest
Description: Anyone remember this series
General Salsa - December 9, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
Recently, I have been rewatching many episodes of this series, and I must say that it is quite splendid in terms of mood, acting, settings etc. There are lots of @$$ kicking there, lots of hot babes and best of all (SPOILER) the bad guy wins in the end (if you see the 'final' episode "Vengeance", you'll know what I mean.)
My favorite protagonist has to be Kung Lao there, since he is quite well developed, he isn't like all stereotypical men in the series, and the actor Paolo Montalban portrayed him quite well.
My favorite antagonist has to be the evil seductive Vorpax there, since she is beautiful, she uses seduction for her own personal gain, and her fighting style is very beautiful. Tracy Douglas sure did portray Vorpax really well.
And my favorite episode there has to be the episode "Shadow of a Doubt", since it featured two MK babe rivals: Kitana and Mileena. I loved the way how Mileena masqueraded as Kitana in order to kill Kung Lao, but the plot was foiled by Shang Tsung, since he wanted to kill the monk himself in order to be free from the Cobalt Mines.
My 2nd favorite episode has to be "The Serpent and the Ice", since it featured the best fight scene ever: Scorpion VS Sub Zero (the second one)
Honestly, MK: Conquest is one of the best series aired on television.
Prince Zarbon - December 9, 2006 05:20 AM (GMT)
i haven't really watched the series. However, i am INSANELY in love with my favorite character from the mk fandom. Reptile is the ultimate incarnation of my favorite character. he is the absolute greatest to me, ever since he appeared in the MK movie. He plays the role which i love, the loyal henchman. Plus, he's the species i love the most, the reptilian. Here are my top 5 favorites:
1. Reptile
2. Scorpion
3. Evil Sub Zero (also known as Noob Saibot)
4. Motaro
5. Kano
General Salsa - December 9, 2006 05:29 AM (GMT)
If you wish to see the series episode, you can here:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...onquest+EpisodeThey are quite worth it to watch, really :D

Btw, Reptile appears in the episodes "Twisted Truth" where he is in charge of framing and killing the powerful warrior Tomas. He also appears in "In Kold Blood" where he forges an alliance with Queen Kreeya in order to defeat Shao Kahn. Ultimately, in the episode "Balance of Power" he gets shunned by Vorpax, who murdered her mother Kreeya, and chose Shang Tsung as her mate (despite their checkered history, since she needs spawns of sorcerer). Later on, in the episode "Vengeance" Shao Kahn kills the traitor Reptile as well as other traitors and enemies of his, thus concluding the series.
Btw, did you know that Onaga (the boss of MK: Deception) used Reptile's body as a vessel? Onaga's quite cool and powerful you know :)
And it's a shame that Motaro's two other legs were cut off in MK: Armageddon, in order to match his gameplay mechanics with the other warriors of the game.
Prince Zarbon - December 9, 2006 05:36 AM (GMT)
what they did to motaro just sucks.
also, i know about him serving as onaga's vessel. but i didn't care about that. i disliked that whole storyline. i love reptile #1 from his original ninja outfit era. not when they made him goofy looking with the alligator head. I like him with his green gi and reptilian skin. that is my favorite era. i just love him. here, for example:

btw, was this show released on dvd yet? it's been like forever already. i have the other mk movies since i love Reptile so much. in the second one, three of his species, the Raptors appear. I just love Reptile so very much, he's my alltime favorite character and I want to get the show but i can't find it on any dvd's. watching it on youtube is not as fun as having it and owning it like i own a lot of my favorite shows, such as The Sopranos, Oz, DBZ, Xena, Simpsons, etc.
Rei - December 9, 2006 09:17 AM (GMT)
I have heard of this but never seen any of it!
Prince Zarbon - December 9, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
i watched the first two episodes with reptile since i am crazy about reptile and i love reptile in it as usual. i am sorry, but i don't like vorpax since she's not even an original mk character and was just created for the show. i don't like the main girl either, whatever her name is, with the red short hair. i see the only main character that is an actual mk character from the games is kung lao. i'm just glad to see reptile well made the way he should so cool looking. i was never much for shao kahn or shang tsung since they both look normal and human. the following are my favorites and always will be:
1. Reptile
2. Scorpion
3. Evil Sub Zero aka Noob Saibot
4. Motaro
5. Kintaro
6. Kano
7. Goro
8. Rain
9. Sektor
10. Quan Chi
etc. characters I dislike
1. Liu Kang
2. Johnny Cage
3. Jax
and pretty much all the good guys as well as the newly created bad guys. i hated all the dumb women in the show just popping out of nowhere. in the episode in kold blood i hated the two stupid women who come out of nowhere to fight against reptile. what the hell was that...as if any of them could stand a chance against reptile. i hate all the non-canon characters to the games.
General Salsa - December 9, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
I just love the way Reptile ssssspeakssssss. Jon Valera sure did an excellent portrayal of Reptile's character. And I like Vorpax because of her character portrayal, since it's at least better than Shang Tsung's character portrayal (which reminds me of Vegeta's in a LOT of ways.) And that red haired girl's name is Taja, whom I don't like much.
Oh, and PZ, if you want to find out about the DVD releases, check out this site:

Prince Zarbon - December 9, 2006 08:23 PM (GMT)
reptile i have loved as a character since 1994. his first appearance in the first mk game was the best as a secret character. then when he appeared in mk2 as a playable character, i only played as him since i love him so much. i disliked mk 3 since he wasn't in it. then mk trilogy had him back in. mk 4 was pretty good but not as good as the previous titles. i disliked mk5 for what they did to his original costume. they sort of made him better in shaolin monks compared to the mk5 outfit. but then in mk6, he kept the shaolin monks costume. to me the best costume is his original from the mk 2 game and from the first movie, as well as the conquest series. i wish the series was released, because i would buy it just because reptile is in it and i love him too much.
also, shang tsung is a lot like vegeta, in attitude and character. in mk the first movie, he even LOOKS like vegeta. cary hiroyuki tagawa, who played shang tsung, duplicated vegeta's attitude. i'm always thinking he should play vegeta if ever a dbz movie were made.
General Salsa - December 9, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
Well put opinion, PZ. Reptile sure is a unique character. This is my favorite Reptile outfit ever:

My second favorite is his ninja form from the previous classic MK game, and my least favorite form is his form in MK:4. He looked totally lame in that incarnation.
About Shang's actor playing as Vegeta in a Live action movie, that's a superb idea!
Prince Zarbon - December 9, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
also, i would like to point out that Reptile isn't a traitor. Shao Khan is a piece of crap and he isn't even the original ruler of Zaterra, along with outworld. he and his dumbass father shinnok raided the realm and took over. they are a ripoff of genghis khan from real life. Reptile is the true ruler and he kicks the ass of those who oppose him, like the follower in the kold blood episode, who got what he deserved for not staying LOYAL to the true ruler, Reptile. The one and only Reptile, the king of the reptilian race and the most skilled ninja warrior, even noted on the site you just linked. under his profile, it says that he is the most agile, which he is. I'm still waiting for this to come out on dvd, as my loyalty to Reptile will never die.
General Salsa - December 9, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
I agree. Shao Kahn raped Reptile's realm by conquering it, and thus enslaving all the Zatterans. Reppy sure did stand up for himself for his race. You sure do have a thing for "green" character PZ, not because of their colors, but because of their personalities and character traits.
Oh and btw, I never ever did manage to find Reptile in the original MK1 game, since it's so damn hard to fulfill. And in MK:Armageddon, Reptile's ending is quite reasonable, since he finds a female Zatterran inside a pyramid, where he has hopes of rebuilding his lost race. It's absolutly reasonable, since most MK:A character's endings have them becoming as an ultimate god and ruling over all.
And PZ, you'll love the BGM of Reptile's Lair in Mortal Kombat Armageddon:
http://www.mkarmageddon.com/assets/audio/a...ptiles_lair.mp3
Prince Zarbon - December 9, 2006 09:22 PM (GMT)
the best reptile theme is and always will be from the Mortal Kombat movie when he faced off against Liu Kang. that theme is the personification of Reptile. it was done by Traci Lords.
Yes, Reptile truly is an honorable warrior who tries to repopulate his race, and think of the betterment of his species. The dork Kung Lao is a judgmental prick in the end of the episode when he says he will kill all the Reptilians. Why would he even think that when we know Reptile is not even against them but against Shao Khan's stupid rule.
And yes, green is my favorite color, followed by blue. This has been my way if you will since I was a baby. I always found that to be the most enthralling color coordination. As you know, Reptile will remain the greatest character for me in the mk realm/universe.
General Salsa - December 9, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
You mean the "Control-Juno Reactor" one? I love that theme song, since it' very brilliant!
Kung Lao sure is a paranoid one who wants to kill everyone opposed to his beloved Earthrealm. Reptile is on the neutral side and really wants to be free from Shao Kahn's authority.
My first favorite color always has been red as well as blue, black, green etc.
And PZ, do you like any other characters that you have seen in the series so far other than Reptile? :)

i am sort of pissed because of vorpax being the real traitor to Reptile's wishes. Kreeya was on Reptile's side and she was valiantly fighting with his cause in mind and her daughter just stabbed her in the back with the help of Kung Lao and those other two idiots. Now i can truly say i hate vorpax as well as the rest of those who oppose Reptile.
I don't see anyone else in the episodes that he's in to be anywhere near as awesome. for one, I guess Reiko was pretty cool...the rest of the ninja's who swore their alliance to Khan...although I seriously doubt any of them meant it considering Khan is a stupid oaf.
also, i like how reptile finally decided to fuck up that loser shang tsung. it was like zarbon vs vegeta when the battle between them commenced. yes, i can confirm now that i seriously dislike vorpax for pitting them against each other. i loved how reptile owned tsung's dumb ass though, tsung just ran away afraid of him and hurt badly.
i would like to point out that the dvd's are unavailable in US format. they were only released in the uk and are in uk format.
Reptile's first actual action figure (apart from the gi joe from 1992) is FINALLY going to be released this december/january. i can't wait to buy it. :)

the set will include kano, noob, and cage as well. i will be buying kano and saibot as well but screw johnny cage. i don't want him. i will definitely be buying more than on of reptile, probably 3 of him. i love Mr. Reptile too much.

*in a greedy voice* Ooooh, I want the reptiiiiiile action figure!
One flaw of Vorpax that I don't like is that she chose to mate with Shang Tsung.... of all people! He treated her like a sex slave down in the mines, and she would have been better off with Reptile, or better yet, not killing Kreeya in the first place, so that she would destroy Kung Lao and Shao Kahn and conquer all realms that should be rightfully theirs.

the realm is rightfully reptile's and no one else's. reptile chose kreeya as his companion so vorpax should have respected that. instead, she was a conniving fool to go along with shang tsung. and even she tells shang tsung that reptile kicked his ass in the field in the last episode. she says "i had to bail you out". so now we know for a fact that reptile kicked Tsung's ass. and tsung was supposed to be the most powerful villain in the first movie. ha ha. Reptile owns all.

Interesting fact sir. Poor Shang is losing his touch. Tsk tsk.... *sarcasm*

he truly did. in the first movie, he was ordering reptile around. in the series later, he gets owned by reptile. that is rather cool, don't you think?
also, you haven't given me a top 10 favs list yet. bare in mind that the list must be constructed of actual fighters from the games and not people like vorpax and kreeya who were created solely for the series.
i'm going to have to go and admit that the best episode was the last episode vengeance. i loved the way shao khan just took out all the enemies accessories and threw them on the ground, declaring them all dead. the ending was very kickass. i'm so glad reptile was killed awesomely by having is neck snapped. my love for him grew even more since i love people who die the most. i must admit though, as much as i dislike shao khan (based on his overall appearance), he won in the end. he even whacked his own brother raiden in the end. that was a good ending. i would have enjoyed it even more if reptile had won...but then again, i want my favorite guys to die...so i guess that wouldn't work.
i also want to know what happened to scorpion and sub zero. did they live in the end or did they die. i know that scorpion is already considered dead per se but i'd like to know if he was killed furthermore. i also wish to find out what happened to reiko and rain.
General Salsa - December 10, 2006 04:32 PM (GMT)
Just so you know, the series took place BEFORE the MK Movies (as in 500 years before the events of the MK1 movie.) So Shang basically lost to Reptile first, but then after regaining Shao Kahn's favor later on, Reptile became his personal bodyguard.
About the episode Vengeance, I absolutly love that episode too. It was wonderful how Shao Kahn took out all his enemies like a conqueror would do. Yes, I too loved the scene where he fought and beat the hell out of his electric brother Raiden, and showing off all the items of his enemies declaring them.... DEAD! I loved the way Shang Tsung got killed: he tried to steal the soul of the Shadow Priest, but it backfires badly, weakening Tsung's body, as the Shadow Priests leap in for the kill.
Also, MK: Conquest was also supposed to have a second season, which depicts what the Elder Gods did after Shao Kahn destroyed and conquered everything. They undid every atrocity that the Emperor committed, that includes everyone returning from the dead (the ones that Kahn killed) and restoring everything back to normal, at the prayers and request of Raiden. Then Kung Lao would participate in the next MK Tournament, only to be killed by Goro, who is the newest recruit of Shang Tsung. The sorcerer then claims his soul, and Shao Kahn restores Tsung as the chief demon sorcerer of his army, this beginning their 9 year victory in Mortal Kombat. Taja and Siro have aged and died sometime in the later years, and it is assumed that Vorpax could not have found a mate, thus the Kreeyans died out overtime, and probably she got banished in the Cobalt mines by Shao Kahn. Scorpion is pretty much hanging out in the Netherrealm and Sub Zero probably had two descendants in the later years. Reiko, Rain, Mileena and the others still serve Shao Kahn loyally. And after all that, the events lead to the Mortal Kombat 1 Movie.
Now, regarding the 2nd season, it was cancelled, because Warner Bros. Distribution and TNT were unable to sustain market interest in the product for another season.
Hope that explains your question, PZ :)
Oh and here is my top 10 fighters list from the MK Games:
1. Mileena
2. Sub Zero
3. Reptile
4. Motaro
5. Goro
6. Shao Kahn
7. Kintaro
8. Quan Chi
9. Onaga
10. Sareena
I didn't put Scorpion on the list, because he is too much overrated <_<, and I dislike of what happened to Raiden in Mortal Kombat Deception and Mortal Kombat Armageddon, since he became from a kind god to a psychotic mad god bent on destroying any realm that threatens Earth Realm.
Prince Zarbon - December 10, 2006 09:22 PM (GMT)
awww. i'm rather sad that scorpion isn't on your list since he's my second fav. at least you put reptile as your 3rd. although when you say sub-zero it is rather vague since he had three separate incarnations. i don't think either is better than reptile honestly. but which one are you referring to, the evil original blue sub zero, his later delusion into noob saibot, or the good brother sub zero.
you might want to add why you like mileena so much also. i found her to be cool in the comics since she was Reptile's teammate. (i love the comics and she works with reptile)

The Good Subzero (the Present one with the scar) is the one on my list.
I love Mileena because she is quite the unique female warrior, she is the first evil Mortal Kombat villainess to appear in the games, I love her Sais, her outfit is very sexy, she has cool razor sharp teeth, she is the clone of Kitana with a ruthless mind of her own, she is truly loyal to her "father" Shao Kahn, she has some kickass moves (i.e. Teleport Kick, Rolling Ball), and her fatality where she sucks you in and spits out the bones is just awesome!
Hope I have provided enough reasons :)
Prince Zarbon - December 11, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
its sad that you like the good sub zero, since he's good above all else. :(
however, i like mileena the most out of the women as well...but i wouldn't rank her as number one...i dunno, i just don't find the mk females capable of defeating the villains. i like her teeth also, cept that would pose a threat if you were trying to make out. lol.
General Salsa - December 11, 2006 02:01 AM (GMT)
I like the good Sub Zero, because he reformed the entire corrupted Lin Kuei Clan both bravely and honorably. He turned it from a cadre of assasins, to an army of warriors defending earth.
Oh and here's another fact about Mileena. She is the only boss that does NOT get killed in the Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks game (Jade, Baraka, Scorpion, Goro etc. gets all killed via fatality after the end of the boss battles).
And if I ever try to make out with Mileena, my mouth will be covered in bandages after that. Though I was horrified to see that Kung Lao got laid by Mileena (in the guise of Kitana) in the Mortal Kombat Conquest episode "Shadow of a Doubt."
Prince Zarbon - December 11, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
there's other stuff you wouldn't be able to do with her either (too explicit to explain) lol. but mileena's character serves its purpose i guess. i'm just not too big on the female models because they just don't look as menacing/savage/brutal as the ninja models.

I pretty much know that :P
And I do have to admit, female models aren't even close to being menacing or scary, but a few cases are (Sheeva, Unmasked Mileena etc.) They are infact quite beautiful to watch, and some of their attitude can be very sexy and deceptive.
Male character models will always be fearsome and menacing in most cases (i.e. Shao Kahn.) and it's not a wonder why there are no female Final Bosses at all in Mortal Kombat.
Prince Zarbon - December 11, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
oh yeah i love sheeva. except i didn't like her very limited role in annihilation. Her death was so stupid. she just walked in after baraka and his men got owned. she said "the date's over" and kang just let the dangling cage fall on her head to kill her. that was pathetic. She didn't even fight. I wish they could have at least had her fighting. They ruined her character in the movie. I liked Mileena in the dirt fight, but she wasn't supposed to get owned by Sonya Blade. I was like what the hell, she came in with the daggers and kicked ass only to be killed in that one scene. They were all too limited. At least Reptile appeared in like 5 scenes in the first movie, on 5 separate occasions. He wasn't just in one scene and got owned like the aforementioned.

It is indeed a shame that Sheeva just died by getting crushed by a mere cage instead of dying after losing against Kitana and Liu Kang in a fierce battle. There was going to be a fight between Sheeva and Raiden, but it was unfortunatly cut out from the script.
MK: Annihilation is considered a bad movie, despite that many cool warriors appear there (Cyrax, Mileena, Motaro, Sindel etc.) The actors are overdramatized, some fight scenes sucked, unlike the first Mortal Kombat movie, which was absolutly superb. Why? Because the fight scenes were in excellent quality and the movie has many many memorable scenes. The actors in the first MK Movie were much better than the 2nd movie's actors.
At least MK: Conquest has some kickass fighting scenes, memorable scenes, drop-dead-gorgeous vixens and actors who are quite good in playing their parts well.
Prince Zarbon - December 13, 2006 06:24 AM (GMT)
i seriously don't pay attention to "drop dead vixens" as you mentioned. however, i do care about the most important thing for me: AWESOME HENCHMEN. And the fact of the matter is, Annihilation was lacking in that department. The only part I liked in Annihilation was the end, where Ermac and Motaro battled. That was the only enjoyable part. The rest was very poorly orchestrated. In MK1, everything was well made, cept I of course loved Reptile vs Liu Kang most of all.
General Salsa - December 15, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
Yes, henchmen are awesome :). Without loyal henchmen, arch-villains would be nothing but rotting corpses now (unless they are superpowerful auto-sufficient gods)
Oh, and despite that many warriors appear in Annihilation, they became nothing but fillers instead of having quite a big role (i.e. Rain, Sheeva, Baraka, Mileena etc.)
I LOVE the Motaro VS Jax fight (following close would be the Mileena VS Sonya fight.) It is the best fight scene in MK:Annihilation ever. Motaro proves that technology is no match for his ancient centaurian might, as he rips Jax's bionic arm sadistically, and humiliating him in a brutal battle, not before Jax remembers Raiden's words and removes his other bionic arm and defeats Motaro with his natural strength. I seriously considered that battle to be awesome.
Oh, and speaking of Motaro, I was excited and jumped up in joy when I heard that his name was mentioned by Raiden in the MK:Conquest episode "Balance of Power."
He said: "Shao Kahn is torturing just about everyone. The Shokan.... Motaro's Army....."
Now that I consider it as a semi-cameo, because Motaro wasn't physically seen, but he was just mentioned in the series once. I love it when favorite (and in some cases rare) characters get mentioned in a scene. It is just great :)
Oh, and I also found this dialogue in the Mileena VS Sonya fight in MK:A movie priceless:
Sonya: Kitana?
Mileena: You wish!
:D
Prince Zarbon - December 15, 2006 02:56 AM (GMT)
it's too bad that's practically the only line mileena has in the movie. she was extremely limited. Ermac and Motaro were treated well in the movie, even more so. I loved how Ermac spawned Noob Saibot and they began to kick the crap out of Sonya Blade. That was just hot.
Personally, I feel that Shao Khan is nothing special in the looks department. He looks too ordinary for me to like....this is why i find him moronic overall. Even Shang Tsung was a better villain in my opinion. They made Shao Khan too easy to defeat and he just got his ass handed by Liu Kang. That was rather dumb, he just had no redeeming qualities in my opinion.

That death was very pathetic. Liu just simply did a flipping kick on Kahn (therefore killing him) is not a good excuse for executing a brutal kill.
I personally found Shang's death better than Kahn's death, since I love the way that Liu threw the fireball at Shang's chest, after beating the hell out of him for murdering his brother. Shang then falls into the spiked pit and distentigrates into nothing but a dead skeletal corpse. It is quite a well done death, in my opinion ^^
Prince Zarbon - December 15, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
I like Shang's death too, although I found Reptile/Scorpion/SubZero/Kano's deaths to be better. Think about it.
Reptile - Bicycle kick sending him into the air and crushed into pieces.
Scorpion - Head Slashed open, explodes.
Sub Zero - Water pierces through his shield, impaling him into the wall, and freezing him.
Kano - Flipped onto ground, Neck Cracked.
All of these deaths were better than Shang Tsung's. Goro's death was probably the only one that was more lame than Tsung's...getting kicked off the mountain, that was just boring.

Out of the deaths you mentioned, Reptile's is the best, because he just got Bicycle kicked by Liu, and then he got crushed by the monk's foot when he distentigrated into nothing but worms.
Following close would be Sub Zero, since I like his painful expression on his face when he got impaled by the ice spike.
And yes, Goro's death is lame, considering the fact that he got killed by a mere-2nd rate mortal: Johnny Cage.
Prince Zarbon - December 15, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
cage could've still given goro a better death...he gave scorpion an awesome death...he could've kept punching goro in his balls or something, even that would have been a more awesome death than getting thrown off the cliff.
General Salsa - December 16, 2006 12:05 AM (GMT)
Mr. Cage should have killed Goro
this way. Man oh man, does the MK Games sure have super cool awesome deaths (a.k.a. Fatalities!)
So, anyhow, did you watch the remaining rest of the episodes of MK:Conquest (as in from the first episode Warrior Eternal), PZ?

i am really really pissed about this. i don't enjoy watching stuff on youtube, especially when they are 40 minutes long each. i REALLY wish they'd release it on dvd in the US, in ntsc version, not PAL.

Not to mention they get deleted eventually for "Copyright Enfrigement", especially when it's about putting movies and TV shows on Youtube -_-
*sigh* It would sure be better if they release the darn DVD already in the NTSC areas. Probably we should start a petition about it.

there should already be a petition. the best petition that worked was the return of futurama. finally, futurama is being brought back in 2007/2008 with new eps. i have all the dvd's since i love futurama as a show. the same can be said for conquest. if only they'd do a petition for the dvd releases.

Awesome. I always did want to watch more of Futurama. It was because of this show I started to love the song "Conga" (when I watched the episode when Bender became Human in a what-if scenario.)
I can only pray that MK Conquest will finally be released in the NTSC region :)
If it does, my life will be complete :P
