Funimation announced a wee while ago that they were going to remaster dbz in wide screen format as well as redubbed and remastered footage for the whole series. They've also announced they will be leaving the original Japanese music in. The ultimate uncuts have now been cancelled so the only way we are going to get the Namek saga and Saiyan saga is throughout these sets.

They've also changed the cover for the Saiyan saga it's now orange not yellow.

Wasn't the music one of the only popular things about the FUNI dub? They released a whole bunch of Soundtrack CDs for cryin' out loud :angry: Damn, and I really liked the Namek Saga music.

I do like the original Japanese music, but I would have prefered that they had given the option on the DVDs e.g. if you're watching the English dub, then the dub music should play, and if you watch the Japanese dub, the Japanese music should play. The movie DVDs I own have that option. In fact when I play the Japanese dubbing the titles are different too and the original Chala Head Chala theme plays.

Actually, is the Japanese dub even available on the new DVDs?

okay. I'm totally glad they will be releasing it with my alltime favorite Japanese music intact...including "Kyoufu no Ginyu Tokusentai" aka FEAR OF TEAM GINYU! The best tune and the one and only tune to play during Zarbon's ordeal. that's a good thing if there was any...but i am upset that it is going to be widescreen format. i seriously did not want to loose footage in order to gain side footage which was moronic footage of trees and crap. They should not cut out parts of arms and hair, etc. That is what sucks about this version. still, how much is the release price going to be...I hope they release namek saga so i can buy it. it is my favorite saga after all and i have it all in edit version. i need uncut dammit. they need to pop that out already. it's taking them 5 years.

I think the original Funimation music was pretty good but when they released the Ultimate uncut it was really dull, annoying and depressing music.

I think it is good they are using the Japanese music considering that is what the original creators wanted. But I would agree with you about the original Namek saga music if you were referring to the Pioneer version but I think I still do like the Japanese music more.

I would agree about the widescreen considering the footage we are getting is unfinished footage. Look at Gohan's eye for example it's not even finished, they haven't even completed the white of his eye. So technically Funimation are showing footage that wasn't even meant to be seen.

The release price is still $50 like it was originally going to be but I think some sites are dropping the price.

He only appeared in the last 10 minutes of it unless of course it contains Namek, Ginyu and Frieza sagas. If it is that it wouldn't be as bad but it would be a hell of a lot better if it was Frieza instead.

no. that's not the official artwork. the official artwork will be released later. Also, it is only going to be namek saga, not frieza saga. and the cover, honestly, shouldn't be just frieza alone either. the main fighters in the entire namek saga were zarbon, dodoria, cui, recoome, and guldo. i'd much rather have them on the cover for season two along with frieza. the season one cover sucked, as we know already...since it simply had vegeta and nothing else.

I just got my Vegeta saga box set in the mail today!!! I like it all except for one thing they didn't change the dialogue, so Goz and Mez don't tell Goku he's in hell.

yes, the frieza force must have the cover. if they go and put krillin, gohan, and bulma, or goku on the cover, it will be extremely stupid of them.

Well, I'm not going to buy the box set. I can't stand widescreen. Besides that, I finally own all the dbz episodes, so that's good enough for me. The only thing that sucks is when I wanna watch something. Then I have to dig through my tapes and dvds.


I own most of the uncut version just because I taped the Saiyan-Namek saga when it was on Cartoon network.

i want to own it on dvd in boxes. they are the best sets. having video copies just doesn't cut it for me. I need to collect all the box art, etc. I must have all releases because all original items must be mine. All i can say is i can't wait for it to be released in april/may.

I love how they put the enemy profiles section. its worth buying just for that. it hs nappa, raditz, veggie, and even PRINCESS SNAKE. yay, princess snake!!! that's awesome. Also, those are brand new artworks made just for the booklet. The artwork of nappa on the booklet with his eye lasers is brand new and AWESOME.

Another awesome thing is that the way they lined up the discs...they pretty much did it exactly like the xena:warrior princess seasons. I realized this because i have all the xena seasons and they are lined up the same way.

Thanks, I love the Nappa pic too, have you noticed that the lower front piece armour is missing, minus that it is still awesome. One thing did piss me off though was that Funimation could have put one more episode and then it would have had the Cui flashback Oh well at least the next one will contain all of my favourites. If you or anyone else wants more pics of the boxset just ask and I'm more than happy to post.

Fusion saga? are you...you have got to be fucking kidding me...there was no fusion in the namek saga. that was in frieza saga. unless for some reason that they put over 60 episodes in it...which i HIGHLY doubt. and if they did put over 60 episodes in it...then they'd be calling the ginyu and frieza saga fusion saga also...? they can go fuck themselves. the name of the saga is namek saga. or...maybe its a misunderstanding and its just frieza saga and they accidentally put the word fusion up instead of frieza. that's a possibility.

Okay, I have a question regarding the boxset. Does this DBZ Remastered boxset have all the episodes starting with Raditz's arrival to where they force Vegeta to retreat Earth? I know, sounds like a dumb question, but just want to confirm and double check it. Cause I want my boxset really soon. :D

it goes from right when raditz lands up to when krillin and gohan are already on their way to namek and that idiotic group of children stops them in outer space. it obviously goes past the entire battle with vegeta.

I just got my boxset this weekend and it is incredible! The Japanese music just makes me think of something fantastic everytime I hear it. I got the thing at a pretty resonable price too. (29.99 at Best Buy). Now I most certainly want that Namek saga boxset that is to be released in the Spring.

God, now lets think about what episodes will be in the set. Jeez...if they put 39 eps into season 1...and it goes all the way up to the appearance of "friends or foes"...then 39 episodes into the series furthermore would land us into the middle of the battle between piccolo and frieza. right when piccolo would pretty much land on namek, if they were to include 39 episodes into season 2 like they did with season 3. I find it more logical to go up to the end of Ginyu, with him turning into a frog. That would be a more logical course of action for them to take, but that's just my opinion. lets see. what do you guys think?

Well, i took a close look at the boxset I have and what the description says about the DBZ Remastered Season Two on that Amazon page. On my boxset, it has six disc and runs for a whopping total of 925 minutes. As I read the description Amazon was telling me from Season Two, that said it had five discs and had a running time of 835 minutes. Also there are seven episodes on each disc in my boxset, making a total of 39 episodes. If the second Season is going to have one disc less with seven episodes on it, I conjecture the boxset will have seven episodes less than the First Season. Which means Season two may just have 32 episodes on it.

however, reasonably acceptable math. in that case, i'd be pretty correct with my understanding that it would start off with Cui's first appearance and run through up to the very end of Captain Ginyu being turned into a frog. That's not bad, it's exactly 32 episodes as you said.

I finally received season one and it's top notch. The fact that it maintained the original japanese music which I'm fond of over all else, makes it the best and most definitive collection thus far. Now for the BEST installment, season two. I can't wait for that release. Also, I liked how in the profiles they put Nappa, Raditz, and Princess Snake. It's common logic that in the next one they will finally have Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, Ginyu Force, and Frieza. I wouldn't be surprised if they added Raiti and Zackro as well. However, I'm hoping for more from them in the sense that they don't put someone like Vegeta or Goku on the cover again. I'm hoping to see a cover with Zarbon, Dodoria, and Frieza. Just pre ordered season 2. Can't wait Funimation kept us waiting a hell of a long time to get season 2 uncut. Also I'll upload some pictures and scans like I did last time, when it arrives.

the season 2 trailer is finally up on the dragonballz.com main page! It shows zarbon transforming in it, as well as jeice and burter dashing, cui blasting, jeice dying, and captain ginyu blasting. It's an awesome trailer. the only major downside is the cover. it sucks very badly.

Cant wait to get my hands on this. Its been too long since ive seen the Namek saga and better still itll be in glorious uncut. Definite import purchase for me

yup, its about time already. they were tormenting its release since 1996. Everything else was released uncut except for my favorite saga. now it will finally be released, and with my alltime favorite music to boot. none of that english crap i didn't like. now it will have its awesome tune which i will always love most of all. and it goes all the way from Cui's first appearance to Captain Ginyu being turned into a frog. It's the complete master collection, a godly item. I can't wait to see the profiles in its inner flap. The last one had Nappa, Raditz, and even Princess Snake. EDIT: FINALLY DAMMIT!!! I called all the best buys, all the wal marts, all the targets, all the circuit citys, every single store in the darn state and they were all SOLD OUT! So I went over to FYE movies and I picked it up from there...which I might add was the FINAL one they had as well....they sold out of ten copies in one day. That means that all those retailers sold out of ten or more copies in one day. This is insane. I'm positive that no other dbz dvd has ever sold out this quickly EVER before. As a matter of fact, right after I got the last one, some other idiot came up after me and asked if there was any left. When I left the store, I snickered to myself, taking into consideration that it's EXTREMELY hard to come by on the first day of release. So the first thing I did was open up that awesome booklet inside. The cover sucks by the way, it's the dumb Goku on the front, whereas we know Goku barely even appeared in this era and was more of a prominent player in the Frieza saga. Again, aside from the front cover being utter crap, the back cover wasn't half bad with a nice Frieza form 1. Inside the booklet, the villains section was awesomely done. The villains in the section appear in this order:

The Ginyu should have been listed above Vegeta though. However, I am upset that they haven't added Cui. They added Princess Snake on the last booklet so I was hoping they'd add Cui in this one. Oh well, my top two favs have profiles, guess that's good enough.

Alright, I also calculated how many seasons there will be in accordance to the releases. If each season has 35-38 episodes in it, then there will be 8 seasons released altogether. So basically, there's only six more left to be released, which will add up to 291 episodes. Season 2 will always be the best for me though.

it was originally known as Crusher Ball in Japanese version. Funimation turned it into Fireball. And now its back to being called Crusher Ball because of the uncut release. I guess it's better to be called by the original name...I think Crusher Ball sounds better than Fireball anyway.

Friezas 3 paragraphs there are awesome, they describe what the Frieza Force was all about perfectly. In particular i love this part "They carry out his requests promptly, efficiently and without question. They know Friezas character too well" That, apologies for the steal mr Z, is a seriously hot line :D

I really want this and the first volume that deals with the Saiyan saga. Unfortunately im nervous as my new Multi-regi DVD player is a tad on the temperemental side. The sets are reasonably priced enough but with import tax too its a big risk hoping they'll work. But i want em so bad :(
