Title: Leon "Silent Strider"
Description: Karayan Warrior

Leon - July 20, 2011 09:18 PM (GMT)
Name: Leon "Silent Strider"; Silent Strider is his Lycan name, or tribal name.

Age: 35 (Born SY: 432)

Star: Chimei

Hometown: Karaya Village/Kuput Forest

Occupation: Karayan Warrior, scout and foreign consultant for Lucia

Weapon: Paw & Growl / Claw & Howl / Fang & Tooth

The Beast Blades

The Beast Blades are a pair of short swords imbued with the powers of the Moon. Originally handed down in the Strider line in Leon's village, however when the village was devastated by Windy's destructive force his mother removed them from the clan hut before fleeing. The blades seem to be constructed out of some kind of bone, with tribal markings of a night based nature with phases of the moon and stars making up the majority of them. Both blades are roughly 3 feet in length and slightly curved.

When refined to higher levels the blades react to it's wielder's beastly rage. If the lycanthrope wielder changes form as do the blades. At it's initial level the only reaction is when a lycan changes into wolf form, the blades actually shrink and meld into his hands/paws. Upon upgrading the weapons as the lycan shifts into larger hybrid forms the blades will increase in length accordingly.

Mata Tar

Mata Tar is the bow that Leon constructed with his father upon his return to the Karayan Village. It is a small recurved bow that's main purpose is hunting. While it has a fairly good range on it, it's small size gives it a limit that bows constructed for war do not have. However because of it's size it is easy to move around with and can be drawn, knocked, and fired very swiftly. The bow it's self is made from a sturdy, yet flexible tree found in Kuput Forest. The string is fashioned from a combination of vegetable fibers and rawhide, creating a simple yet weather resistant string.

(Mad Props to the Sparkster for this Bad-Ass Pic!)

Leon has not changed much in appearance since his time in Dunan. Thanks to his Lycan blood on the surface he looks exactly the same. However upon closer inspection one can spot a number of scars that have been added to his collection, the most noticeable being the one over his right eye. While the eye is still functional and fine in appearance, the eye lid and area around it form a reminder of a time when Leon had lost control.

In human form Leon appears as a very wirey fellow with a height that hardly imposes roughly 5'10", with a slim yet muscular build similar to a modern day gymnast. He has jet black hair that is kept in long braided strands, that often hang just past his shoulders. Sometimes hidden behind stray strands of hair, his jade eyes peer forth with a curiosity to them. His skin is thick and leathery and especially hairy in parts(such as his chest), with the general Karayan tan. In contrast to his exceptionally hairy parts there are also heavily scarred places along his back and arms that bear no fur. He generally walks around bare-chested with a traveling cloak draped over his shoulders, though he understands at certain times more clothing is necessary. He fashions a simple leather belt with sheathes for his blades, fastened around a loose dark pair of pants. On his feet he has simple Karayan shoes, similar to moccasins. Strapped around his back he keeps his bow and quiver, though the back of his belt also has a holster for his quiver.

While on his journey through Greenhill he received a set of "civilized" clothes through a friend he made. Now a days he saves those clothes as a reminder of his adventure. Should the need arise to sneak around Iron Head lands Leon wears a white button-up collared dress shirt, similar to that which Jess of Muse sports. When he can find someone to tie it for him, he also sports a jade colored tie that matches his eyes. Around the waist he has a brown leather belt with a gold buckle, fashioned around a dark pair of dress slacks.

In Lupus, or wolf form, his fur is a mix of dark greys, ranging ashen to nearly black, except on the face, paws, and tail where they are pitch black. Where his scars appear in human form, also appear in his wolf form through the longer neighboring strands of hair cover it better. From nose to tail he is roughly 4 and half feet long.

In Crinos(The Giant Wolf-Biped) his body is covered in fur and his hands begin to take on more wolf-like characteristics. He gains half his height making him stand roughly at 6'8", however due to the wolfen hind legs and extreme growth in fore-muscles he never stands fully erect, and his muscle tone greatly increases. He can still wield melee weapons, but complicated actions such as pressing buttons, drinking from a tankard, turning the combination to a lock, and more become impossible.

There are two other hybrid forms: One between Human and Crinos, and one between Crinos and Lupine. Glabro (The Wolf-Man) is the form between Human and Crinos, where he takes on features similar to the original Wolf Man horror film. More fur grows and thickens, nails and teeth begin to extend slightly, and a few inches and minor muscle growth takes place.

Hispo(The Monsterous Wolf) is the form between Lupine and Crinos, where the user has taken on mostly wolfen features, however the broad shoulders of a human and arm muscles retain some similarity. Appearing as a hulking wolf of great size, but with a guerrilla like proportion of fore to hind legs.

Biography: Before Dunan Unification War

Leon is a renegade survivor of the Lycanthrope Clan in the Grasslands. Though the village was destroyed long ago Leon's mother escaped with one of the tribe's treasures in hand, the Beast Blades, fleeing to the Karaya Clan. Upon arriving she had a lot of explaining to do, but without divulging too much information about herself she was allowed to stay and become part of the Clan. They were unaware of her Lycanthrope, though many of the clan shamans sensed something primal about her, though it was overlooked.

As time passed and many forgot that she wasn't a native Karayan, she fell in love with a strong Karayan warrior. As the suns continued to set their love grew stronger, and just before the Zexen harvest season came the pair were married. Naturally, pregnancy followed and all was well for the first 4 months. However, on the fifth month Leon's mother became more feral. She was quick to anger and seemed to forget many of the small rituals and mannerisms that make one Karayan. This earned the ire of the community, so for their safety his father moved their hut to the edge of the village keeping his pregnant wife away from the misunderstood gaze of his fellow Karayans. As the pregnancy continued, it became increasingly difficult for his father to even communicate with her. In the last months of her pregnancy she somehow fled from the village and into the Kuput Forest. Beneath the lucent beams of motherly night sky and the long protective branches of this ancient forest was where Leon was born.

His mother was able to raise him initially, though the birthing process took an incredibly harsh toll on her body. Naturally her regeneration began to heal over these deep wounds, but because she was starving herself to feed the young Leon it would eventually be useless. After two years, his mother used the last of her strength to lead the cub out of the forest, intending to deliver him to his father. However it took all her energy to deliver him to the Duck Clan Village, dying that very day. He spent a brief time in the damp village before a trading caravan arrived, heading towards Karaya. Some of the members of the caravan were Karayan, so with only minute explanation they agreed to take the young Leon with them to the village.

Leon was taken to the village where he was reunited with his father. The Karayan warrior reluctantly took the child in and raised him, though with a secret bitterness behind his eyes. As Leon grew older and was allowed to hunt, he quickly found himself among the best in the village. His heightened senses and instincts made him an excellent tracker and a deadly shot with a bow. This earned him much praise from his fellow Karayans, except his father. Upon reaching puberty Leon began to understand and sense his father's feelings even more, and began to distance himself. However, on the hunts he would still be in the same group as his father.

One moonlit night the clan went out for a hunt searching for a particular game animal that roamed the plains only at night. Leon was sent out with his father and a handful of other men, and after a couple hours yielding no results the group decided to fragment. Leon found himself alone with his father. At first they were able to communicate well, however a small argument started over who would track and who would shoot. The argument soon got physical and that is when Leon's memory blanked out. He went through his first change that night. As he was able to gather many moons later he tore his father apart after shifting into Crinos form.

Unsure of where to go he wandered back to Kuput Forest, where he stayed peacefully for sometime. Living off the land, and being one with his inner wolf kept him happy until the world of man came back into his life. He bathing in a stream barely deep enough to do so, when he heard screams soon followed by the familiar sounds of battle. Rushing to investigate he found a caravan being raided by bandits. Initially, Leon turned away with a cold heart, but upon taking a second glance he saw a young woman from his village he recognized among the victims. He came to the caravan's aid which made the cost of the attack outweigh the spoils, forcing the bandits to break off from their attack. The survivors showered him with gratitude, then questions. Then finally the woman remembered where she had seen him before and revealed his identity as a fellow Karayan. He soon found them all backing away. The young woman didn't understand and tried to convince Leon to join them, but the others quickly shot the idea down and then battered Leon with insults.

With the words "Murderer", "Traitor", "Monster", and "Exile" all ringing in his ears Leon left them to return to the comforts of the forest. Several days passed and still the words echoed, then slowly the images of the act in the first place began to surface in his head. No longer finding any sanctuary in the forest he set off on a path to the East, hoping to run away from all those that could remind him of his wicked ways.

Several years later, Leon caught a few hints of another like him spotted in the Dunan area. Hoping to find someone he could relate to he set out for Jowston. Sneaking in through the Greenhill area he searched for others like him, and upon spending a few days in the area he felt something deep tugging at him.

During Dunan Unification War

Upon arriving in Dunan Leon was first attracted to the city of Greenhill and it was more than the convenience that is the first city he saw. The luscious green forest was a welcoming sight. He was able to enter the city through the help of a female student who told the soldiers he was her bodyguard. Once inside the city he conducted a personal investigation trying to discover what kind of people Greenhill natives were.

He soon encounter a friendly tribal from the Nameless Lands, named River. She soon introduced Leon to her friends and for the first time in a while Leon enjoyed a meal with good company. However before that night ended Highland forces descended upon Greenhill. If not for Alanaah's senses and River's sense of morales the battle could have ended very differently. But because River got warning out to the soldiers of Greenhill and the tribals helped defend the city, Highland was repelled.

However it was not thanks the tribals were shown by the Greenhill soldiers. During the battle the gate was opened from within. Unable to find the true culprits the crime was blamed on Leon, River, and their new companion Rydia. Thrown into prison Leon first met Eria, another Karayan who seemed out of place, as well as her iron-head companion Lionel.

Thanks to River's friend and her connections the tribals were eventually released from their prison cell and the charges were dropped. Still bitter about the whole thing Leon was ready to leave town. However he was finally given the chance to meet Lady Teresa Wisemail, a chance he didn't want to miss. After getting to exchange words with her Leon couldn't help but think his people had the wrong idea about Greenhill.

Before he could leave Greenhill, Highland again moved against the city. Leon aided in what ways he could, primarily guarding key routes through the forest via ambushes. But Sparna's forces proved too much for Greenhill even with aid led by Sir Boris Wizen. When Teresa escaped into the forest with Shin escorting they were trapped by a group of White Knights led by their Vice-Captain Clant. Leon witnessed this meeting and when he saw Clant's intent he intervened. He fought alongside Shin, both too stubborn to leave the battle to the other at first. However Leon convinced Shin to protect Lady Teresa and leave the fight to him. Now alone, Leon could fight with his true strength. After tearing many of the Knights to shreds Leon was wounded by a powerful runic fire attack from Clant, causing him to flee.

Away from Greenhill and any friends he had made and cut off from going to Two-River Leon infiltrated Highland through the Muse Province. The power of the Beast Rune still drawing him towards it. He arrived in L'Renouiile at the outbreak of the Civil War and during the chaos he was captured. When he was brought before Luca Blight in the throne room the Beast Rune shimmered, as did the Rabid Fang Rune on Leon's forehead.

After that Leon cannot recall what happened for the remainder of the war until the battle at Matilda. From what he can put together given information others had given him he was made into a weapon by Luca Blight. Void of any humanity due to the feral Beast Rune, he was used to route entire regiments of the Allied forces. However when he encounter the Karayan Forces led by Lucia and Beecham he found restraint. This contradiction, this inner strife, allowed Leon to withdraw from the battle. Watching from the sidelines he watched his Clansmen battle the Matilda/Highland forces alongside their allies.

When the Karayan Forces entered combat with Gorudo's main force they were crushed by the heavy cavalry. While retreating Lucia and Beecham were halted by Gorudo and some of his Knights. Not wishing to see another Karayan Chief die by the hands of Gorudo, Leon leapt into action in Crinos form. He was able to fend off the Knights, forcing Gorudo to pull back for the time. Beecham was still unsure of the beast before him and swung his blade true, striking Leon's right eye. The wound was grievous enough, physically and emotionally, to revert Leon back to his human form where his clansmen looked upon him for the first time in many years.

For his deeds in Matilda, Chief Lucia allowed Leon to re-join the clan. And at the end of the war Leon traveled back into the Grasslands with the Clan.

Post Dunan Unification War

Upon returning to the Grasslands Leon parted ways with the Clan, having to take care of a few things before he could resettle. With his packmate as his only companion he headed to Kuput Forest. Little did he know, at her command. Unaware of the actions he performed under the control of the Beast Rune, he soon discovered Alanaah was pregnant. Like himself many years before, a new cub was brought into the world under the moon and stars, and the canopy of the Kuput Forest.

However the birthing process went horribly wrong. The young male wolf was far too large, even at birth. This Dire Wolf's birth brought about the death of Alanaah, who's small frame was only strong enough to carry the child, not survive giving birth. The cub continued to grow at an alarming rate, which eventually lead to Leon realizing that he was indeed the father.

With his son he returned to the Karayan Village, hopeful to secure a place among his people again. People of course are unaware of his Lycan blood or that his companion is actually his son, with the exception of Lucia and Beecham. Leon aids his Chief in whatever ways he can, and given his unique experiences outside of the Grasslands his advice and skills have been utilized from time to time.

Personality: Leon has learned how to survive amongst people for the most part finally. It is far easier now that he is older, and wiser, and now that he is back in the Grasslands among familiar sights. He is still a flirt, and still has his social awkwardness from time to time. He still has issues staying in Iron-Head cities for long periods of time, but overall has more control of his Inner-Wolf.

RP Sample: (Prior to Dunan Unification War)

The open fields of Greenhill were a welcome sight as the young Karayan first peeked his head out of the forests that seperated the Grasslands from the lands that were claimed as Jowston. The claiming of land was something Leon had never really understood, other than perhaps marking ones hunting territories. Completely oblivious to the political and military domains of man Leon was completely unaware of the coming storm of warfare that was looming over the land, ready to erupt in destruction. Or perhaps he could smell it in the air, but lacked the experience to define it.

The sun shined down from the open sky, which it hadn't for this traveler since the great plains of the Grasslands. He avoided the roads through the forest, walking his own path and hunting along the way. As he continued out into the field and got farther away from the forest he could see a small peaceful village at the edge of it. Curiousity sparked in his nose as he sniffed forth, but he shook his head from the thought of investigating it. The stench of man had mostly encompassed the area, and while much wild still existed it was not the scent he was looking for. So he turned from the village and continued deeper in the lands known as Greenhill.

The sun faded behind the horizon and the moon took it's peaceful spot hovering over the lone wolf and the open field. As the lucent beams of Luna washed over him he felt a tingle shoot through out his nervous system, as he felt primal urge hit him. Starting with a stuttering grunt and building up to a howl shot his head up to face the moon as the rune on his forehead began to glow. His hair began to extend, his skin thicken, cainines piercing forth, and bone structure morph. He howled loudly as his transformation completed, taking on the form of a wolf. His olefactory quickly was assaulted by a barrage of scents as the benefits of his transformation took hold. Catching the scent of prey he quickly darted off through the tall grass.

The hunt thrilled him, made him feel truly alive. People could never understand life like him, they were content making structures of stone and wood and wished to fight over them. This was of no interest to him. Finally he caught sight of a deer and sped forth at the meer notion of tasting it's blood. In a matter of minutes it was over. The deer began to run but as Leon closed in he changed into Hispo form, and with his massive forelegs he pounced upon the beast and began to feast immediately on it.

As he picked the bones clean of any meet he reverted back to human form, cleaning up the blood from his cheeks. He gripped one of the Beast Blades, Growl, and began to remove the antlers from the remaining skeleton. Although Leon did not fully succumb to the world of man he still realized that he lived in it, and found many ways to make a living and to enjoys some of the pleasures that came along with the world of man.

As he finished using what he could of the beast he began to tire. His jade eyes looked to the moon and stars and he wondered where he should head next. He felt a pulse moving through the earth urging him towards the lands known as Highland. He couldn't place a finger on it what it was, but it was an instinct he would certainly not forget. However the rumors of a Lycanthrope being in Two-River also weighed heavily on his mind. Unsure the tired traveler retired for the evening, procrastinating the decision til the next day.
