Title: Viki
Description: Absentminded Teleportation Adept

Viki - October 19, 2010 10:43 PM (GMT)
Name: Viki
Age: 16
Star: Chitatsu Star, the Quick Star
Hometown: Somewhere Far Away
Occupation: Absentminded Teleportation Adept
Weapon: Wand -> Wa-Wa-Wa-Wand -> Uwa-Wa-Wa-Wa-Wand.

Despite being called a ‘wand’, Viki’s magical focus closer resembles a rod or staff, being just about as tall as she is. Although the body of the weapon’s shaft bears the grey dullness of iron, the foot and head of the staff are much more ornate, bearing elaborate gold patters. The tip forms something of a cage design, entrapping a small crystalline orb. Fairly light in weight despite being made of metal, it’s not quite ideal for striking enemies in battle.

A small and unassuming-looking young woman, no taller than 5’3, Viki has a slender frame and fair skin. Her long brown hair, while not untidy, flows rather wildly. Her robe is primarily white, but bears ornate blue and gold trimming on the edges and cuffs. Following the same color scheme is the sash that binds her attire together.
Biography:
A teleportation prodigy who has serious problems controlling her gift, Viki has been mis-transporting herself throughout the world and even throughout time for quite a bit now. Little is known about her early life or even where she comes from, mostly due in part to her scatterbrained memory and her tendency to vanish to somewhere else entirely before having the chance to meet someone who might know. Some who encounter her theorize that her absentminded nature comes from a long history of mishaps and experiments with teleportation, although none can say anything for certain when it comes to the nature or origins of this quirky sorceress.

One of her first reported appearances still on record was in Falena during the year 449, amidst the ongoing Falenan Civil War. Panicked to have accidentally sent herself to a distant land in a state of strife, she exchanged her services of teleportation to Prince Freyjadou Falenous for protection until she could resolve her dilemma. She served him well and saw the war through to its end, but during the victory banquet she mysteriously vanished. Those who witnessed it claimed she appeared to accidentally teleport herself with a sneeze.

Much more recently, she played a part in bringing down the Scarlet Moon Empire at the side of Tir McDohl. As a part of the Toran Liberation Army, she provided her astounding (if occasionally faulty) teleportation ability to assist in the war effort. By all accounts, her meeting with Tir in the Forest of Moran was an accident, apparently onset by yet another mishap. Her service, however, was for the most part commendable and her disappearance with a sneeze at the victory banquet baffles many to this day.

In addition to these reports, there are other lesser mentions of a woman with similar garb and look appearing out of nowhere and often lending a helping hand. Those who still spin tales of the Island Liberation War long ago rarely mention a klutzy teleportation adept that sound strangly like Viki. Perhaps she had an ancestor who fought back then?

Presently, Viki finds herself trying to catch her bearings from her most recent bout of misadventure. She appears to have transported herself from the day of the Toran victory banquet to several years in the future. Her blunders once again have dislocated her and placed her in the middle of yet another war. As is routine for her, she finds herself struggling to find a place, however temporary it may prove.

Personality:
It is said that prodigies and geniuses are often quite eccentric, and in Viki’s case that is certainly true. From her propensity for mis-teleportation, general klutziness, and other odd tendencies such as falling asleep standing up on more than one occasion, some find it a wonder she’s still alive at all. With a hazy memory about where she’s been and an apparently clueless approach to where she’s going, the young mage can seem to be a bit scatterbrained. In general, this conclusion proves correct.

Despite her quirks and mediocre at best control of her amazing powers, Viki remains optimistic, cheerful and eager to please. She seems to have the general objective of using her abilities to help people and works diligently at attempting to refine her teleportation to be less of a hazard. While she never seems to come far with these endeavors to improve, the wayward sorceress continues to try and be of aid wherever she may find herself.

Though she has accrued something of a decorated history through her misadventures and has even been known to take the front lines and use her magic in battle, Viki generally dislikes the idea of war and generally panics when she finds out she’s placed herself in the middle of yet another one. Her tendency to attach herself to a side and find protection in it as quickly as possible suggests a fear within her, most likely one of being alone.
RP Sample:
The forest foliage muted the bright afternoon sun as Viki, dressed as she usually was, stood beneath it, working on some manner of experiment. Staff in hand, she diligently drew shapes in the soft earth beneath her feat. With each stroke, what the mage was up to became gradually more apparent: she was etching a sigil of some manner. With the most determined look her innocent features could muster, she placed her ornate staff in the center of the symbol.

“Alright,” Viki recited to herself encouragingly, “this time I’m going to get it right.” With that, she placed her rune-bearing hand upon her focus and prepared. Her goof-ups, she had realized, were most common when she was amongst those being transported. If she could learn to be more accurate teleporting herself, it would be progress indeed, she thought. This time, she would be trying to bring herself to the inn in the nearby Greenhill, where her companions waited.

As she began to focus the spell, she was more than a little bit nervous. What if it didn’t work as she planned? What if she ended up somewhere even worse? What if she couldn’t get back? Her mind raced furiously, distracting her concentration. Nevertheless, the spell continued and the Blinking Rune in her right hand began to glow. With a zooming roar and a bright flash of light, she was gone.

A loud rough splash and the touch of cold water greeted the young sorceress at the other end of her spell; she had a rather unfriendly landing into a rather large basin of water. With a shocked yelp, she rises, her robe rather drenched. The odd spectacle attracts more than a few eyes of the local townspeople. As she surveys the area with a very familiar embarrassed expression, it takes her a few moments to realize she was indeed in Greenhill. Not only that, but she was more or less right outside the inn, just as she had wanted.

Viki’s embarrassment quickly changes to joy at this. She did it! She was able to properly teleport herself this time. Even though it guaranteed nothing in regards to future attempts, she couldn’t help but feel like this was a breakthrough. She let out an amiable laugh, leading the townspeople to watch her a bit more worriedly. Noting the stares, she quirks a brow, and then looks down. She was still thoroughly soaked and standing in the basin of water. Turning red once more, she hastily pulls herself out and enters the inn.
