Important CSI NY Finale air date change from TV Guide

QUOTE
CBS Moves CSI: NY and Other May Finale Airdates

Apr 27, 2009 07:09 PM ET by Matt Mitovich

CBS has confirmed its plan to join ABC and NBC in covering President Obama's upcoming prime-time news conference, and the ripple effect is far-reaching for the Eye's May sweeps plans.

For starters, a Rules of Engagement-New Adventures of Old Christine pairing originally slated for this Wednesday at 8pm/ET has been pushed to May 13.

As a result of CBS' small sitcom glut, Criminal Minds' two-hour season-ender has been pushed back an hour to May 20, starting at 9 pm (following the season finales of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried).

The CSI: NY season finale, originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, will now air — and this is where you need to pay attention, kids — on Thursday, May 14, at 10 pm, leading out of the original CSI's own finale.

CSI: NY's "unusual" finale slot also fills a gap created by Harper's Island just-announced move to Saturdays at 9, effective this week.

This episode has helped me to officially reestablish my love/hate relationship with the writers. I was totally in love with them after Greater Good. Then they go and do this to us. I really want to know who (if anyone) got shot. I have a feeling it was Lindsay. She was the only one who wasn't in the quick shots of the cast at the beginning. I know they wouldn't just leave her out. They're not stupid. So I think it was foreshadowing the fact that she was the one who got shot. Maybe she doesn't die, but I think she gets shot. I will just have to suffer all summer before we can find out for sure.

The death of Jessica Angell, she will be sorely missed. The opening scene where Don was deactivating Terrance Davis was a funny one. We all know Don is good to go for a bit of snarky humor which we got with "Mom?" when responding to Jess's question, but the emotions this man goes through in this episode...was astonishing. Hearing shots fired in the background, Don yells at Terrance to get out of the car. Don gets Jess to the hospital because the NY traffic is so bad the ambulance couldn't get there in time was blood pumping. I read the spoilers so I knew what was coming, but I still held out a shred of hope that they were wrong. No, they weren't. The utter despair and devastation on Don's face when he told Danny that "She was gone" was heartbreaking.

The NYPD lost one of its own that day, and we know never tick off the department by killing one. Connor Dunbrook was also kidnapped during the shootout at the diner across the street where he was about to testify against his father Robert. Seeing Robert Dunbrook storm to the scene ticks Mac off big time, enough to have Stella get a warrant to track his movements to gauge whether or not he is responsible for this. Don, meanwhile hands Jess's badge back to her father Cliff. It turns out that out of his four sons only his daughter had the blood of a cop in her. He would have had her in a safer job, but knowing that was not where her heart was, he arranged it so that her badge number was the same as her grandfathers and his. Cliff also notes that she may have always had a smile on her face, the last few months the smile was different. Better. Don takes this news sadly. Finding the vehicle Mac and Danny start to process, but while doing so Don shows up and tells them "He needs to be there." Understanding this, Mac keeps Don with him at all times to make sure he is kept up to speed and in the loop.

Turns out that Connor was kidnapped and held for ransom by ex-miliatry men who were looking to daddy for a 10 million dollar pay out. When Mac, Danny, and Don crash the exchange all heck breaks loose and the kidnappers flee. Terrance Davis, finding out that the woman Don was talking to on the phone in the beginning was the cop who was killed. Helps him out by freely giving the team a lead on the vehicles which eventually leads them to a mechanic who tricked out the car the bad guys used. The mechanic's lead pans out and directs them to a building where Connor is being held. Mac, Stella, Danny, and Don all go in to get Connor and get the bad guys while Sheldon waits outside to tend to the injured. Just in case. Quickly they take the buliding with only one SWAT member getting grazed. Mac finds Connor, killing the bad guy holding him. Danny goes after Don. Don finds the guy who shot Jess, identifing him by the 50 cailiber Desert Eage gun, and makes a decision. Danny seeing Don asks him if he is alright. Don replies "I'm fine." The tribute to Jess is all of them retelling stories on what made her special to each and every one of them at a bar. Sid tells one on her first autopsy, where a lab tech hid beneath a sheet on the table pretending to be dead. When he arose, it nearly gave her a heart attack so bad that Sid thought she would never talk to him again. Stella's toast: "Jessica Angell, was one of those rare people who touched each of our lives. the kind who reaffirmed your faith in humanity." As this is being said, a car slowly passes the bar, a window being rolled down, a gun poking through. Many rounds are shot out and everyone ducks to the floor. The end.

I doubt we will get an Emmy nod since they seem to have forgotten about this show, but I hope they at least get a nomination for this episode. Eddie Cahill did a phenomenal job. I already miss Angell. I thought the writers were doing a good job this season, everyone was happy. They tick me off every season by doing something moronic, I will never forgive them for what happened this season.

I really do hope that they get a nod from somewhere for this eipsode or for Yahrzeit. They were very emotional eipsodes and they were very well acted - it is about time the CSI NY gets some well deserved recognition.

OMG - that was all I could think at the end of the show. Angell's death was so sad. the whole team knocked it out of the park!

RIP Jess Angell.

That was one hell of a season finale. I sure can't wait for seasin 6 now.

I'm torn, I'm looking forward to it yet dreading it at the same time. I don't want to see Don in pain, and since season 6 is going to pick up where the finale left off...god, I don't know.

I hope so too, Lian. Not to knock CSI LV or Miami, but why can't NY get any acknowledgment from the award shows? What is wrong with them? They have just as much drama and emotional development as the other show, heck more than the other shows at times.

I get what you mean afrozenheart412. I am keeping everything crossed everyone else makes it through!.

It is going to be really interesting to see Flack next season. When he shot that guy I was like OMG! OMFG! he wouldn't not Flack, to quote Stella he doesn't even swear. But who knows what you would do in his place.

One thing I have noticed this oast season it that the men seem to have grown up. I don't mean that in a bad way just that they are not the boys they used to be, they are men. even Adam, he still has that child like quality about him but if you look at how he was in season 2 to how he was in The Parties OVer he has grown in to manhood.

I hope that doesn't come across as wrong because I mean that as a comment.

You know...I don't think it's Lindsay...I thought it was Stella for sure. It always seems like...everything BAD happens to her. Like with Frankie, Drew, the HIV scare, and this Greek coin case. It has me wondering that it's her... :(

And I have a feeling that the shooter was Terrence...maybe if it was...not sure though...he may have been after Flack...

I think that some will be injured quite badly from the flying glass but I thini that will be it.

This is probably a silly thought, but with regards to who the shooter was. Do you guys remember the eipsode where Hawkes "bumps" into an old friend and when he wont help him with regards to the flashdrive he hires two goons to beat him up. From what was indicated in that eipsode I was guess that the family was pretty pwerful and well connected, so I wondered if it had anything to do with them.

^ooh that's a good possibility. I had completely forgotten about that.

That would make for another interesting storyline if you're right.
