casey stood at the counter of the country club, waiting for their takeout as she casually flipped through the magazine she had brought with her. expecting to see the names of a few of her friends, she furrowed her graceful eyebrows when she came across a name that was all too familiar. 'pro surfer kevin volchok and fiancee madison fontaine tell all about engagement' the headline read as casey rolled her eyes. most of the time, the 'facts' were merely falsifications, but as she read on, she got an eerie vibe about the article.
'volchok, a native of orange county, california, states of his fiancee, 'she makes me feel better about everything. she's changed me so much, and without her i don't feel complete'. soft words spoken by such a tough guy' unable to help but choke, casey coughed on the water she was drinking and almost made a scene before playing it off coolly. "sorry, there was something in my water," she lied, holding up the bottle of fiji that she had been drinking. making sure her hazel eyes didn't decieve her, she read the passage once again. no change. what the fuck? personally, casey was happy that kevin had found someone else, but well, the things he said were a bit erroneus. or perhaps he said that to every girl he was in a serious - or semi-serious - relationship with.
maybe it was time to perhaps ... talk to her ex for a bit. make sure that he was doing the real right thing, and not trying to get over anything traumatic. not like the loss of her, but maybe their baby. or maybe this was simply a gentle warning to the new girl to make sure she doesn't do anything ... to lose whatever she had with kevin. because knowing him, once something got dull, he moved onto the next person without much thought or inner turmoil. "miss. harper, your order is ready," the man at the desk stated as he handed her the food and she took it gracefully before turning around and beginning to exit the country club.
looking around, she saw what she thought was a familiar figure, and stopped for a brief second in order to attempt to recognize the face. wait, it was ... kevin. it seemed to her that he was waiting for his dearly beloved, and well, she hadn't seen him since her arrival in newport, so it wouldn't hurt to say 'hello', right? striding over to him, she set a slender hand onto his shoulder with a sly smile. "kevin?" she asked, pretending to not know if it was him or not.
