alright, since we're doing a five-year jump on cahwc, mel + i figured we should all kind of catch people up on what has happened to their character in the past five years. y'know, a bit like a catch-up and history. not to mention, it'll be better to help keep everyone's 'new' history consistent. so, pretty much just post a brief paragraph about what has happened to your character since we last picked up. oh, and you can definitely work on a couple's one too, that'd be awesome.

uhm, well, with ryan, things weren't very peachy. with his decision not to go to college, he earned the disapproval of his wife and the burden of many jobs as he slaved away to help make ends meet. oh, and did i mention that he had the disapproval of the cohens for not going to college. but, as time went on, he had saved up plenty of money to help the family of four live comfortably - which was more than he had when he was a kid. moving back to newport after college due to marissa's wishes, he soon found a job as a bartender by day, cagefighter by night. the relationship between ryan and marissa is very strained, and most words between them are forced. the only beacon of 'sunlight' in his life is the one best friend he has managed to have, a pretty girl named harley jennings who has made him happier in all of these years than his marriage - although his kids are still a binding glue for them. it's sydney and kyle, as well as ryan's unshowing love for marissa, that are keeping the two together, in his eyes.

somehow, for this blonde things have been working out in her favour. what she originally thought was going to be a short fling with preston scott turned out to be a big deal. once riley left preston's life, the two began dating, more seriously, on and off for the three and a half years that had passed before they were really serious. shortly after riley's departure, marina's father died, and preston was there to comfort her. she made the choice to go back to la, back to usc, to finish college, and she got her degree in two years. staying in la for six months as the newly-found agent of some up-and-coming star, she experienced la to its finest and found a good friend in dan scott. because she wasn't riley, dan immediately took a shine to her and had been rooting for preston and marina as a couple. marina knew that they couldn't be too serious because of his still-standing marriage to riley, but when he proposed, the blonde was both shocked and excited. with an enthusiastic 'yes', she moved back to newport and soon found herself in the world of rich newpsies that she never knew. but when preston mentions that he sent riley the papers, and marina sees her fiance's wife's red hair in town, she can only hope she signs the papers and leaves.

after her short run in newport and odd flirtation-thing with riley conrad, she went back to los angeles with her son damon and waited for her man to get out of jail. two years after the return, he did, and soon they fell into the pattern of a married couple, and soon they were actually one. a year after his return from jail, he asked alex to marry him, and she said 'yes' with nothing but pure joy. now it's a year after the marriage, and the two are moving back to newport. alex finally has control over the bait shop, a stable relationship with her parents, the man of her dreams, her son, and a baby girl on the way. she's finally got things going her way, that's for sure.

newport's legend didn't have such a triumphant return back to newport. after a fling with riley conrad, they planned on going off together after riley's divorce - something he didn't know about, like her age. however, somewhere around the midwest, he uncovered her true age and abandoned her. i know, sounds like a true hero. but then again, rachel did that to mouth on one tree hill. from there he lost contact with her and started on his own little path. he started on a pathway of music, but soon found himself working only small-time gigs. so, he went to an honourable profession in itself. training to become a firefighter, he completed the training and started to move from town to town, only really staying in a place that needed a hero. once his job was done, he'd move on, breaking hearts in the process. now back in newport, he has just started a consulting firm for safer places - working with architectural, construction, and businesses like that.

[Riley Conrad]

riley joie conrad: jftb and i were talking and of course, court sport needs to be okay with this, but i was thinking that i'd have riley go off to nyu for...something haha. the summer she spends hooking up with huc and doesn't talk to preston. she moves out of the penthouse one day when he isn't home without telling him and lives with her parents. presto is hurt, but marina is doing a good job in keeping him distracted. it's time for ri to go to school and she tries to see preston, but he refuses, knowing it would be too hard. so she leaves without saying goodbye to preston. 4 years later, preston and marina are engaged and riley is a successful model. so she comes home and shes not totally the same riley. she's become independent, successful, she finally learned how to be herself without a man by her side. but of course, her heart still aches for everyone's favorite asshole. and she's still slightly unstable and psycho.

nicholas michael jones: i got nothing for him yet, because i'm going to let little ms. court decide where she wants bianca to be and such and once she decides that, i'll fit nick into the equation.

ho hum.

seth goes off to brown and discovers that it really isn't for him, so he goes to RISD instead and finishes off his degree there. his relationship with summer was strained when she left for london but the two of them did try the long distance thing for as long as they could before they broke up. seth's had a couple or two girlfriends since then, and they were probably a few months long each and it's probably because he needed someone around since ryan wasn't there for him and he was in another state. but now he's back in newport and he's recently split with his ex girlfriend. half of him pines for summer roberts, the woman that's he's always loved and the other half tells him to just move on. but how can he when every other relationship has ended in pieces?

Marissa Cooper Atwood:
Things started off pretty well for the Atwoods. Marissa was making steps towards recovering from the latest attack with the help of her husband but missed her best friend horribly. Needless to say, after a while her friendship with Summer faded quite a bit, but she still had her family. Things started going downhill when Marissa found out that Ryan wasn't going to college and had never had the intention to go. She was upset that Ryan had lied to her and that Ryan thought he had to play the role of the martyr, sacrificing college dreams to take care of the family. This created a rift between the two, making their communication with eachother even more scarce and distancing the them. Marissa finished college and is now on the look for a job. I can't remember if we decided for sure that Marissa doesn't know about Ryan's cage fighting, but if that's the case, she still notices that Ryan keeps coming home bruised and battered. She's decided that if Ryan wants to keep his life secret, considering that he's done it before, that it's his business. He had had every chance to tell her about college, after all. What's the use in trying to figure this sort of thing out when he was so determined for her to not find out he wasn't going to college? As long as Kyle and Sydney don't notice that RM is strained. Lately, however, Marissa has been dreaming about Paul again. With her dysfunctional relationship with Ryan and her (ex?) best friend over seas, she's been keeping it all to herself.

Heath Grayson:
Heath went to school at UC Berkley and had what he considered to be the 'ideal' college experience for the first three years of it. He found himself a girlfriend, Leslie, halfway through his freshman year, and by the start of his senior year they were living in an apartment together. He had every intention of popping the question a few months after they graduated, but found her hooking up with a friend of his at their graduation party. He packed his stuff that night and walked out. He hasn't seen or heard from her since. Heath now has every intention of enjoying the single life that he missed out on while he had been dating Leslie

[Summer Roberts]

Summer Roberts: Shortly after telling Seth about where she would be attending college, Summer packed her bags and headed off to London. At first, Summer was really good about keeping in touch with everyone, sending them gifts, and even visiting from time to time. Unfortunately, she soon became more involved with traveling around Europe and had less time to visit, or even speak with her friends back in the states. Before leaving for college, she had agreed to try and do the whole long-distance thing with Seth but it didn’t really work out. They broke up, and Summer moved on. She dated on and off for her freshman and sophomore years at Cambridge, but then she met a really great guy her junior year and they’ve been going out ever since. Recently, Summer has found herself a little homesick and decided to move back to California after graduation. Her new boyfriend has agreed to come with her and Summer is definitely ready to show off her British boy in Newport.
