i must be honest. the reason i did not participate in the last time trial was not due to lack of time. i like the idea of a monthly time trial competition, but the second level of last month's time trial just wasn't that interesting. i solved the first level just because of how short it was (and it was busted, just in case that hasn't gotten out yet).

if i had to critique the first october level, i'd say that the lower half of the level is completely forced. that is, the solution is both obvious and unavoidable. the level is more of a test of will than a test of mind.

i apologize for the brutality of my honesty, but i think if the levels were more interesting more people would compete. maybe this isn't the right thread to be discussing ways to make that happen, but there's already a competition devoted to level design. what if the winner of the create competition (or the best original level submitted, since some people submit already published levels) became the time trial level?

That's a neat idea. Tom and I should talk about it at some point.

That was probably the worst one I've done so far, though I thought the first level was ok to be honest. You're not the first person to have brought this up here, but be lucky that the competition is running at all. The first level is supposed to have busts in it to see who finds the quickest route. I admit and agree with you though, that 2nd one was a pretty boring level but I noticed I hadn't made a bomb one yet. I guess I've just lost the touch lately. Not even up to TomP2 standards at the moment in my opinion, just wished I had more time. dry.gif

It's okay Tom, we all know that it'll be hard for you to get around University without staying up for 5000 hours...lol. And your levels weren't bad, I did like the first one, it was cool. The second one, your right, a little annoying, but still partially good.

Sorry for double posting, but I have sent my video in. Tom, since you probably have university and other stuff, you might not get to check it until halfway into next year (lol jk), but yeah.

I am still around, and I can check my emails at University, so I'm still receiving and checking the winners (if there are any of course). I check this site at least once a week so sorry if I've not been around that much this month.
