anyone who hasn't been living under a rock in recent years knows that the american economy
has suffered quite the blow in recent years. the unemployment rate is higher than it's been in a
while, and budget cuts are nothing out of the ordinary. however, they are out of the ordinary at
chicago general hospital. over the years, chicago general has treated many a rich patient, and
those rich patients are generally grateful. they're so grateful that they give generous donations
once they're sent home. slowly, these donations are waning. the smaller the donations, the more
cuts have to be made. in lieu of the hospital's financial situation, the next step in cutting back is
laying off loyal members of the hospital's staff. first it was one of the many receptionists. then,
some interns. the latest cut was the downsizing of the diagnostics department. rumors are flying
about which department is next, and the already competitive medical staff of the age-old chicago
general. when nobody's jobs are safe and everyone is under scrutiny, doctors are nurses alike are
slowly turning against each other in order to play the nasty game the economy has created. there
is only one goal and one reward to this unnamed game: keeping a hard-earned job.
