"Freedom... is the ability to challenge yourself far beyond the constraints of traditional rule and order. We draw strength from our passions... we're driven by desire... even hatred can be a worthy ally when used against an enemy... and yet, we are told to turn our backs on these things... the very feelings, emotions... that make us all... human.
"Everything here works against us. We fall pray to the things we never knew existed. Fear, hate, all of these things, that make all of them stronger."
"We are far from grace, further than I could ever imagine. You will feel things that will cloud your judgement. This enemy within is strong and unpredictable. Control these emotions or the fight cannot be won. The others have failed, learn from them but do not follow."

Okay, so we've had a suposed link to this for ages and I know some of the newer members to RP are going: "How the hell does everyone write such long posts so beautifully?" and I know it's good to have something you can look at every once in a while when you're at a total mental roadblock. Okay, so now a couple of tips time for getting some good quality and quantity out of a Roleplay. I'll provide you with a tip, an explanation, and an example.
Setting is you're friend. You' wouldn't normally think so, but setting is you're friend and setting doesn't have to just include where they are physically. If it jogs a memory, talk about it. If it makes them feel a certain way talk about it and why it makes them feel that way. Also talk about what we normally associate with normal setting. Even if it is the tiniest detail believe me, it'll go into some depth with you character. Example: She drove up here in her sleek car, it had a familiar rock and it clamed her beyone imagination. That car was a testament of her, she had it for several years and it was kept in great condition. It was her only car and now it was one that others were envious of. She prepared it with all sorts of weapons though, she put a gun under the seat cushions, a knife in the glove compartment box, a rifle in the trunk and a tazer underneath the other cushion. If you werent' prepared you would be eaten or dead and that was the end of the line. Period.
Don't write something that sounds like it shouldn't be there. If you can't see a dialogue or event in your mind's eye, don't write it. It will sound superficial and make you look like you don't know what you're talking about and we're all very bright, here I know that. You can produce something that is wonderful completely on it's own. Notice how fake the second one's dialouge sounds. I don't write that kind of character and never will. If I do I give you the right to shoot me. Example: "Nina couldn't bear the thought of Johnny's death so she simply refused to acknowledge it for sometime and simply went after every guy who she could show a good time to." not "Oh, deary me who shouldn't I sleep with?" Nina asked sarcastically. She couldn't bear the thought of Johnny's death so she simply refused to acknowledge it for sometime.
The best posts come out of people who are happy. I know this one sounds like I'm trying to bitch at you but I'm really not. All I'm trying to say with this is write when you're comfortable. For me usually that is when I am in class working on something dull and boring and that's when my creative juices really start to flow. So this one doesn't come with an example mainly because the example was in the explanation but keep this in mind.
Dialogue is not an excuse for a oneliner. We get it, you've made some really good dialogue, but unlike superficial dialogue that has no purpose this should have some emotions behind it when said. When they're speaking, they've obviously given it enough thought to comment on it. Not all characters are like some of us in real life (ADD speaking out) and just go on random tangents, occasionally it's fine but usually no. Now look at these two. The first will have emotion behind it and the second will just have dialogue. Look at how flat the second one sounds. Example: "It's been working really well for me for the past year or so," She bit out. She had a vast disliking for this woman who obviously thought just because she was a veteran in the business that others needed meaningless advice when what they were doing was personal, no mattered the way you turned it, there was always a personal reason behind a hunter. Usually a death would be the obvious one, but there were other reasons. "You don't know me, don't act like you do. Ah know what ah need and ah know the reason ah got into this, do you? Do you tell yourself that at night everything will be all better? ah don't. Ah tell myself ah'm saving millions of lives because ah could never save his...because that's what he woulda wanted, he always wanted somethin' more for everyone and now ah'm giving 'em that chance." not "It's been working really well for me for the past year or so," She bit out. Pay Attention. Yes, I know a lot of these sound like I'm bitching but you wouldn't believe how many times I've seen good RPers (myself included) forget what they said in there first post. Continuity affects your performance and it will sound a lot better if you flow consistantly. Like you're getting intimate in a scene and where your character hadn't had pants, now does. Just remember these kind of things. Details do matter. Credit: Nina(person who wrote this).
