Title: Unofficial pairings -topic!
Description: from yaoi & yuri to straight!

Raion - May 16, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
So, what pairings do you like the most and which you can't stand? Has there been a pairing that has been bugging ya? Tell about to us and share the passion of the beautiful--
Kai: -TO THE POINT!
--possibilities of romances! (Kai is our --My-- first victim)

I definately love one special pairing, and it's pretty much lovely: SpencerKai (in my fanfics Spencer tends to be uke anyway... How did that happen?)
Top 5:
SpencerKai (Looooveeee..... *Drool*)
SanguinexRobert (vampires are seme. forever XD)
BryanSpencer
YuriyBryan
SpencerMax (What?)

Buwie - May 16, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
One pairing that has been on my mind since it was in a dream is GarlandxTala. I just can't get the image of those two kissing out of my head. Know I find myself slowing liking it.

Fav pairings:

BryanxTala (Alltime fav)
TalaxMax
KaixTala
RayxTala
GarlandxTala

Hey Raion have you heard of Loveless? If you have I have a few pics you might like.

Raion - May 16, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
I have, my friend reads Loveless, but I think the plot is kinda boring and confusing... I don't really like Loveless, sorry =.= I wish I would but I like 'Yellow' better, since it's yaoi and 18+ XD
For some reason, in my stories, Ray has always been the person to interfere the main characters' romance^^;

Buwie - May 16, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
*Runs to a corner and cries* You are the first person that I know that doesn't like Loveless. My mom and I love both the anime and the manga. ....Check for a pulse...I'm still alive.

Yellow...don't think I've ever heard of it.

Raion - May 16, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
Well, I can read Loveless if i don't have any better to read, but it's not exactly my kind of choice... I've never in for shounen-ai, I like full-time yaoi better (it's just a bit more passionate and a bit matured.)
Yellow has a basic story of two cops chasing drug-dealers, really. It's plot is nothing special but the yaoi-parts...! I'm a bit picky.
Good that you're alive^^

Buwie - May 16, 2007 08:58 PM (GMT)
Oh here in the U.S Yellow is called Fake. I have read all of it didn't really care for the art style much so I didn't like it. I kind of don't have money to get the hard core yaoi so shonenai is all I can afford right know. My mom likes it to surprisingly.

Raion - May 16, 2007 09:04 PM (GMT)
My mom would be super-angry if he would know what I read... Or what I write and draw^^
But you know, I just discovered a surprisingly cute pairing^^ RobertMichael. It really it's so cute pairing when you get used to it (Robert is GOD <3 XD) 'A knight in a shining armor' is one (might be almost the only one ;.;) that has this pairing as it's main theme.
Also, since vampires are always sexy, Sanguinex is another to be paired with Robert^^
other, just for laugh, is JohnnyKai. It's surprisingly good pairing but worth of a while.

SonyaValkov Iz Sterv'átnikov - May 17, 2007 01:29 AM (GMT)
fave pairings-

BryanXTala (for sure XD)
IanX.. somebody..( mainly Spencer, but what if he was with Tala or Bryan?)

Er, that's all I have... for now ^^

Raion - May 17, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
I, myself, I don't pair Ian much with anyone in my fics but that doesn't mean that the pairings don't exist. When pairing Ian, I mostly use Spencer or Kai. It would be funny to pair Ian up with Tala^^ aww, it could actually work you know...

Buwie - May 17, 2007 08:21 PM (GMT)
I just remembered another one SpencerxBryan. I really can't see Ian as a gay or bi it ruins the cute images I have of him dressing in drag for no apparent reason :D .

Non yaoi pairings I like are:
JuliaxTala (OMG I love this one but there are not very many stories with this pairing.)
GarlandxJulia (A random one my brilliant mind made up.)
KaixJulia
Pretty much Julia with anyone except Tyson(he's just too annoying to me), and of course her brother.

I just can't see Pinky (Maraih) paired up with anyone same with Ming Ming.

SonyaValkov Iz Sterv'átnikov - May 17, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah!! I forgot; we can also use Yuri and Straight... in that case, there's more-

HilaryXTyson (I myself don't really like either.. but those two belong together and it's sort of cute^^)

JuliaXTala (I always pair them up when I decide Bryan's my dude... in my fics of course!)

Mariah, well... her and Ray are okay, I am starting to not hate her anymore, even though she's PINK I think she's starting to grow on me <_<

I see Garland alone!! I just dont' like the guy, not after what he did to Bryan and Spencer and especially Tala!!! Oh, I wrote a dumb story that made no sense about.. stuff, mostly Beyblade... I made him die and have everyone forget about him ^^;

I cant think of anymore.. I am not so much into Yuri anyway...

Raion - May 18, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
No, Garland musn't die! The reason: He's handsome with his hair open!
But, well, when I first think Garland, the first pairing that comes to my mind is Brooklyn. Garland I imagine either secretly homosexual and Brooklyn in awfully much bi, with when character changes from uke to seme, depending in what kind of mood he is....
I've never been realy keen on straight pairings... (I've seen a shounen-ai love-triangle in the anime. I really did. REALLY! There's a love-triangle hidden in the series! XD) but in my fanfics, I tend to do these pairings: MichaelEmily, RickMingMing (Don't ask, Rick just needed a girlfriend and I couldn't torture him with Mariah so... MingMing is less bad...)
I think Max is pretty cute chara, so I usually pair him up with Spencer to make Spencer a bit more open person...
Ian as a drag? I can believe him in a cute little girls' dress... awww, looking totally alike a girl... Maybe I write a fanfic about this.... I already have and idea.... Fufufufufufufufu.... (evil laugh in japanese) Hell, I'm going to draw it too... Fufufufufufufufufu!

Buwie - May 20, 2007 02:05 AM (GMT)
I agree that Garland is hot with his hair down. He doesn't deserve to die. I agree that GarlandxBrooklynn is a good yaoi. I have some pics of this pairing printed out I might be able to find them again.

Raion - May 20, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
we hope you do^^

Buwie - May 20, 2007 08:37 PM (GMT)
^_^

If I can't find them I'll just scan the ones I have and send them to you.

Where did I find them to begin with.......

Raion - May 21, 2007 05:07 AM (GMT)
:) Good luck

Buwie - May 21, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
Here they are:

[Links removed.]

I was too lazy to post them as pics.

Raion - May 22, 2007 04:49 AM (GMT)
Aaah, so cute pairing^^ It's good that you put them as urls because the pics would have taken much space...
Garland is really hot when he wears his hair down^^ But, from thing to another, who do you prefer to be paired up with... (Dun dun duu!) Bryan?

Kai-V - May 22, 2007 10:26 AM (GMT)
Those are Japanese fanarts, in case you did not know. Stolen Japanese fanarts.

Raion - May 22, 2007 11:01 AM (GMT)
But, shouldn't showing some pictures be ok (fanart or not) if the person who shows them, doesn't benefit from it? I've heard that same goes for music, that they're allowed to be played in certain circumstances if the person who plays them, doesn't get any money or other benefit from them...?
And the fanarts that Buwie showed, have been on a site of its' drawer before and they've been totally free. I know this, because I've visited the site, but now it's gone and it can't be found... So if either one, the drawer or/and (in this case) Buwie, haven't gained any benefit, it's legal to show some pictures/fanart/music in the internet. And, internet, anyway is a public-thing so everyone and anyone can see those pics. Buwie just gave an direct URL so the pics can be found with less effort. Buwie never claimed that those pics were her and if she would, then she would be stealing the fanart. But she didn't say the pics were made by her so she's not violating the law.
You break the law if you claim that the pics are made by you but truthfully aren't. Of course, it would be good to tell who has drawn the pic. But, I know that the drawer's previos site (if she/he has them anymore) was in japanese so there's not much of a possibility for us to tell him which of the kanji-characters are part of his/her name.
But, this is beside the topic, so let's go back to the topic.

Kuznetsov - May 22, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
Links removed - now.

Long-winded explanation of moral reasoning - later.

For now, please trust in and respect my decision.

Raion - May 22, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
sure thing...

Kai-V - May 22, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
I suggest someone creates a topic concerning Fanarts, so that the same things can be pleasantly repeated on and on ...

Buwie - May 22, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
Raion I think Kuz-chan thought that what I meant in earlier posts was that I was claiming they were mine. I didn't mean it to sound like that. I understand that the links I posted were to people who stole the arts I just didn't feel like tracking the actual site down in case it is/was still up. That was lazyness on my part which I am prone to.

I would apreciate an explanation Kuz-chan.

I will work on making use of the 'Forum Rules' function of the AP, to highlight this issue in each forum as well as completing a pinned thread, which can be used for general discussion on it too.

Raion I think Kuz-chan thought that what I meant in earlier posts was that I was claiming they were mine.

Actually, the fact you said...
QUOTE
Where did I find them to begin with.......

...made it clear they were from a site.

Explanation as requested:

- A few years ago in the Beyblade community when Beyblade became popular in western countries, Japanese fans realised western fans were stealing their fanart.
- It may not seem so but in most cases, Japanese fan artists are (very) angry with (mostly western) people who steal their work.
- They don't speak English well - see a problem? and if they could, it wouldn't be pretty.
- It's a clash of cultures. It may seem normal to 'share' things around on the Internet, but in eastern countries, it is seen as dishonour and disrespect, even if western fans just want to show people arts, harmlessly.
- It's taken the wrong way and it's difficult to explain that to someone who can't speak your language.
- Because of the fact it just doesn't work that way, it's best just to not take anything from their site, but instead, give someone you trust the link to it, so the person can see where it came from. Recognition of the artist is very important.
- Legality isn't really the issue - fanarts of already-copyrighted characters do not (hopefully) make the artist money. It's the issues of respect, effort and feelings of the artists that matter.

So these days, I, as well as a group of others work to help, since it's the least we could do, in order to inform people not to take fan arts without permission.

Removing links is one thing to do, not just because they are stolen, and chances are not wanted to be taken, but if someone else sees the thread they may just go ahead and take them again without knowing.

However, if any artist does not mind you taking their art and see it as free advertising, then there is no problem with it. Permission is the key.

In future, if you do want to share fanarts around, the non-public PM system is available - and, it's an added bonus if you also inform the person who drew it and where it exists originally.

There is actually a rule against posting stolen fanarts here. I think "stolen" needs a better definition...

---

I only have one week left to devote time to my course. After that I am free to work on the growing list of other things to attend to...
(I hate to have to say 'I'll do it later/soon/when I can/when I'm not so busy', in various places, for various things, without explanation but I am stretched for time right now.)

So for now that is what I have offered and promised.

Please post any further discussion here so that this thread may get back on topic:

You will find any replies to this issue posted here will be moved to the thread linked above.

Yeah, but let's go back to the topic, please?
What pairings do you consider as 'crack-pairings'? In case that someone doesn't know what a crack-pairing is, it's a pairing that is made just for laugh and it's more of a joke than a seriously taken pairing.
One of my latest favourites of crack-pairings would something as impossible as Garland x Ivan (Ian). It amuses me a lot. Also, i find Kai x Ivan very funny and a bit of a joke. Thought I do have some pairings that I'm serious about: Sergei x Ivan for example (Spencer x Ian) it's very cute pairing, I think...
I write a lot of fanfictions with Spencer as one of the main characters, so once got a flame from a person who wasn't really good writer (I think) and he (It obiviously was he) writed that I make the characters very OOC. It amused me as much as it made me angry. I red some of this person's fanfiction and it wasn't really good, mostly swearing.
So, this little story leads to question: What do you think about character's OOCness?

Kuznetsov - May 25, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
I consider every pairing 'crack' in anime if it is not Rei/Mao or Takao/Hiromi.

I am very conservative and a purist when it comes to anime characters, so I can't help but view OOC usage in fanfictions 'wrong' if I am to read them. I just like the characters as they appear.

However, that does not mean I think the fanfictions are written badly or are bad overall, the genre just does not appeal to me.

Raion - May 26, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
Well, it's hard to write a story where all of the characters (Blitzkrieg boys for example) are quiet all the time... It doesn't work for the plot very well. In other words, it becomes dull. Exspecially if it's a love story. If it's horror or something not so romantical, the original characters work, but when you need to get some romance going, the original characters don't work. It's sad and I'd like that I could keep the characters that I without a shame, use in my stories, but it would kill the romance and the whole plot... So, I think it pretty much depends of the genre.
And, Kuz-chan: TakaoxHillary or RayxMariah aren't really official... Well, in the manga, the RayxMariah is more official but... I really can't see much of a chance that Takao and Hillary would be count as official pairing since there were only little hints of possible love in the anime.

Kuznetsov - May 26, 2007 11:32 AM (GMT)
I think the Blitzkrieg Boys are easy to write about because I have become to accustomed to their characters over the years.
In my opinion, they have all spoken enough over the series in order to show their styles and form a basis to write about.

To write about any character that was created by someone else, you have to try to think like them.

I know of one author that has captured their personalities perfectly.

She is "AngeLhearteD": http://www.fanfiction.net/u/345611/

Here is her descriptive fiction of Kai, called "Phoenix":

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2278884/1/

And this one, "Reflections", is very good at describing the interactions between Kai and Yuriy:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2166347/1/

This is just my opinion of course, but when I read them and reflect on them days after, I remember them as stories that could have actually been episodes of the series.

Well I never said they were official, but it seems very obvious that Rei/Mao, at least, is what Aoki Takao had in mind for the typical 1 or 2 rare pairings involved in a young boy's anime. Especially as it was cannon in the manga.

As for Takao/Hiromi, just the way it is presented in V-Force mostly shows the type of interactions they have. In anime, the 'love-hate' relationships usually end up being actual pairings by the end. For example, Takao finds Hiromi annoying, as does she, but young children tend to do that when they 'like' someone. A young boy calling a girl a 'stupid head', or something of the sort, would be the same as saying 'I like you, but I'm not mature enough to express that properly yet'.
Not in all cases, obviously, but Takao and Hiromi generally liked each other. The other Bladebreakers saw her differently. Max, as 'charming' to girls as he appeared, did not take a special interest in Hilary, he and Kai treated and respected her as a team member as did Rei. Kenny was shown to be more interested in. The people who wrote the relationships part of the Beyblade Wikipedia page seem to think Hiromi calling Kai cute must mean she has a 'crush' on him.

As for Kai in general, you could tell he was the type to stay away from forming relationships in his younger years, do a few tournaments and retire from Beyblading. He would, like the manga, take up running the family business and then go and start a family in order to keep the family line going. This was so that Dranzer would be inhereted by his son or daughter. In any case, he would come to understand that businesses have better 'reputations' when the president is a 'family man'. Kai is the type to do things within these protocols.
However... he was much more rebellious in the anime, perhaps, out of sheer dislike of his grandfather, he would ditch running the company and live life very differently.
Some fans choose to like him in his earlier years shown in the series, where he is only intrested in fighting and perfection.

---

That just about sums up my pairing opinions on this anime.

Sulphar-Fire - May 27, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
My absolutely number one is...

Bryan x Tala!

top 3:

Bryan x Tala
Garland xTala
Spencer x Ian (Oo)

Raion - May 27, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)
SpencerIan is cute^^

Buwie - May 28, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)
I too agree they would make a cute couple.

Raion - May 29, 2007 04:57 AM (GMT)
Robert x Michael is one pretty cute couple too.

Buwie - May 29, 2007 05:29 AM (GMT)
That would be a good one. I need to get more ideas for the GarlandxBrooklyn fic I'm still writing.

Summer vacation is so cruel in that it's boring especially when you have nothing to do.

Raion - May 29, 2007 09:25 AM (GMT)
You have vacation already? I have to wait for four days and then... VACATION! I found a fanfic with Robert and Michael as a pairing. It's in fanfiction.net
Just put on the character-suggestion on the right upper corner "Robert" and "Michael" and put the rating to "Mature" and search. The fic is called "Knight of Passion"
It's a good fic but contains a lot of adult themes such as sex (Of course, that's why it's on Mature-section). But, still, a good fic^^ You can find a link to the author's site where the "Knight of Passion" is in it's original version, from the author's profile.

Buwie - May 30, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
Yep I do. I've been on it since friday. And I'm happy too :D cause it means more internet time.

Thanks for the info Raion.

Raion - May 30, 2007 08:02 AM (GMT)
No problem! :D You know, you shouldn't read angsty fics/ death fics while listening The Animal's 'house of the rising sun'... It made me cry!

Buwie - June 5, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
For me it's reading those types of fics and listening to sad slow music that gets me bawling. There's a fic I read a few months back thats BryanxTala and it's about Tala dieing and for the life of me I can't remember the title of the story I need to get back of fanfic.net to find it again....

Raion - June 6, 2007 06:22 AM (GMT)
You do that^^ I think I've readed few dying-fics but I don't read them much...

Buwie - June 22, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
Yep I do. I also cry on a regular basis to. I just think about my grandma whenever I need a good cry and the waterworks start.
