Sooo.... since I lost the old stories now, I'm reposting from part one on! Sorry, blueeyedblonde if you wanted to finish up part two, but ur gonna hafta wait... ^^

Introduction

Starfire looked at Robin with tears in her eyes. “You are sure you will not stay?”
Robin was silent. He knew it meant a lot to her, but he didn’t think he’d be able to handle it.
“C’mon, man,” Cyborg encouraged.
“Ya, you know you always wanted to see Star get hitched.”
Robin’s face turned an angry shade of red. He was doing everything he could not to kill Beast Boy right now.
Raven was silent. In her mind, if Robin wanted to leave right now, she was all for it. But if he thought he could stay, it didn’t much matter to her.
Robin looked in Starfire’s eyes and knew he couldn’t say no. “Alright, I’ll stay.”
She smiled softly, her eyes still teary. “Thank you.”
Robin looked away. He should be able to stop her. There had to be a way out of this.

The four Titans sat in the back of the room.
“If anyone objects to the marriage of Princess Koriand’r of Tamaran and Prince Ry’n of Callibra, speak now or forever hold your peace.” The minister’s voice echoed throughout the room.
Robin’s muscles tensed, growing with the silence. Raven, who was sitting next to him, put a hand on him in an attempt to calm him down. It didn’t help much. If it didn’t mean so much to Starfire to go through with this and save her planet, he’d have jumped up in an instant.
The procession dragged on, Robin fidgeting all the while.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
Robin gritted his teeth. That should be him up there. It should be him who got her first kiss. Not some prince from another planet.
Beast Boy glanced sideways at Robin. It was almost hard to stifle a laugh. It was sort of funny to see Robin so angry, well, jealous, to be precise. In fact, he would have laughed, it not for Cyborg’s quick thinking with a jab to the stomach.

At the reception, Robin was a little better. He felt the same, just more resigned to the fact she was gone. He stood out on the balcony and stared at the Tamaranian stars. Starfire came silently from behind.
“You never told me your real name was Koriand’r,” Robin commented, trying not to let his emotion show through.
Starfire looked down. “Robin, I—“
Robin turned to face her and put a finger over her lips. “You don’t have to say anything. It’s your duty to your home. Don’t worry about me.”
“But I want to go back with you-- and our friends.”
“I want you to come back too, but you can’t. We both understand that. But I promise you Starfire, we’ll never be apart. Just remember, we’ll always be looking at the same sky, together.” He pulled a heart-shaped locket from his belt. “I bought this for you, after the junior prom.”
She smiled, remembering that night, their first dance.
“I was going to give it to you, when I was ready to ask you to—to marry me. But just know I’ll always be there for you. And I will come back for you. That’s a promise.”
They were so close to each other, Robin knew what should come next, but he also knew it would never happen. Not now, and probably not ever again. There were a few curious cries of wonder from inside as to what had happened to the bride.
“I suppose that I must go.”
“Well, yeah. Guess you should. And we should probably go back too.”
“Then, this is farewell?”
“It’ll never be farewell. It’s only a ‘see you soon’. Because I am going to come back. It’s a promise I’ll never break.”
She kissed him lightly before heading back inside.
Robin leaned on the railing, wishing for more.

Gee, thanks! I'm glad ya'll like it!
Yeah, the title was hard to come up with. I don't think it really even fits the story that well... I've gotten better with titles lately. And as soon as this story's done, I'll start posting Blood by Blood! that's a good one....
Sad chapter... very sad...

Chapter 1

“Five years to the day,” Robin thought. “Gee, it’s been a long time since we first became the full team.” He walked into the kitchen and stopped, realizing they weren’t the full team. His pace slowed.
Raven turned around to face him. She was always up at this hour. “You remembered, didn’t you?”
Robin slightly nodded.
“Been almost a month since then.”
Robin understood what she was talking about. “And I still can’t get out of the habit of making two cups of cocoa every morning.”
He said this, realizing he had just done it.
Raven shook her head. “You’re taking it way too hard.”
“She was a member of our lives for almost five years! She wasn’t just a Teen Titan! She was our friend!”
“And just like every other friend, she had to leave sometime.”
Robin’s anger burst. “You don’t get it! She wasn’t just my friend! She—“
“Was more to you. You cared for her in ways you never cared for anyone else. You cared for her more than you thought you could ever care for anyone. And now you know you can’t have her.”
“How did you know—“
“I felt the same way, once. But it was only one-sided. At least you both are more than surface deep.” She walked past him, leaving Robin a little stunned. The boy resolved not to let the other Titans have a bad day because of him.

Starfire cried out in pain. Ry’n squeezed her hand. “You’ll make it. Don’t worry.”
Starfire squeezed his hand back just as tightly. She sighed as the last of it was over.
“It’s a boy,” her husband whispered into her ear.
“Robin,” she sighed as she fell asleep from the excessive strain.

Robin sat on the edge of the roof and stared at the sky. Beast Boy came from behind and sat down next to him. “You didn’t want to be alone did you?”
Robin shrugged.
The two boys sat in silence. Beast Boy finally spoke. “We all know you miss her. You don’t have to hide it.”
Robin looked at the ground. It would feel so good right now to just jump. Kiss life, his problems, love, all good-bye.
Beast Boy noticed that look in his eyes. “Don’t do it, man. It won’t be worth it.”
“No. I made a promise to Starfire. And I’m not about to break it.” The Boy Wonder stood up and walked inside.

The months continued to pass, slower to come and go each time. And Robin’s love for Starfire only grew with each passing day. But now, with a coming coronation, Starfire rarely found time to reminisce. Life was becoming so hectic. Once in a while, she would catch herself fingering the locket and staring at nothing in particular with a dazed look in her eyes.
Starfire sighed and stared at the sky of Tamaran. For one moment she was back on Earth, staring at the stars with Robin.
“We’ll always be looking at the same sky, together.”
“Together,” breathed Starfire. She looked down at the locket. It was empty, just like her heart.
“Are you ready for the coronation?” Ry’n asked as he came from the bedroom.
“I suppose.”
“It’s been nearly six years since we were married now, and you still haven’t fallen in love with me.”
Starfire shifted uncomfortably. “I did it for my home. You must miss Callibra.”
“I do. But Tamaran is your home, what have you to miss?”
“My home may be Tamaran, but my heart lies…elsewhere. I suppose I have two. I love Tamaran and it’s people but…”
“Earth is your real home. I understand.” Ry’n leaned on the balcony next to her. “I’ll be honest, I’ve a love back home too, but we both know that this marriage is keeping our planets at peace.”
“I just wish it did not have to be.”
“But what is life without its complications?”
Starfire sighed. Ry’n was right. They had no chance of returning home to their loved ones. Tamaran was where they had to live the rest of their lives.
“I will come back for you. That’s a promise.”
“Oh, Robin, where are you?” Starfire thought.

Robin rolled on the ground for a few feet before stopping.
“Come now Robin, do you really think it’s that simple?”
Robin tried to push himself up, but collapsed to the ground.
Slade pressed Robin’s head into the ground. “Did you really think you could win? Did you really think you could defeat me like that? You and your pathetic friends can’t defeat me. Look around you. Your ‘friends’ had no chance and neither do you. And yet, I’m going to let you live. Why? Because it’s much more satisfying to see you writhe in pain. How? Isn’t this enough? No, the heart is the entrance to pain. I thought you would have learned that by now.” Slade stood up.
Robin moaned and tried to roll onto his back so he was in a less vulnerable position. The next thing he remembered was the police arriving with a few medical units.
“You okay, kid?” one of the officers asked him.
Robin only groaned in response and tried to sit up.
A doctor helped him out. “You really took a beating there. Let’s see if we can’t get some of these wounds bandaged.” The teenage boy relaxed and let the medical team do its work. It took a few minutes, maybe hours, it all seemed the same to Robin, but when it was done he kept going over what Slade said.
“‘The heart’,” he muttered. “What’s he talking about?”
Raven and Cyborg walked over. Robin stood up. “Where’s Beast Boy?”
Raven swallowed the lump in her throat. “He didn’t make it.”
“What? No, th-that can’t be! Couldn’t you use your powers or something?!”
“We tried everything, Robin. It just didn’t work.”
Robin stared at the ground. “It’s all my fault…”
Raven comfortingly placed a hand on his shoulder. “No, it’s not. You—“
“I could’ve come up with something better than walking into Slade’s trap! It’s my duty as the team leader to make sure nothing happens to you guys!”
“Robin, it isn’t your fault. Slade had a mission in mind, and you couldn’t have stopped him.”
“Then why didn’t he kill anyone else? Why only go for Beast Boy? Why not me?! I was the one he’s been targeting!” Robin stormed out of the warehouse and jumped on his R-cycle.
The Boy Wonder sped through the streets, in the opposite direction of Titans’ Tower. He needed time alone. One of his best friends was gone. And it was his fault. The R-cycle skidded to a stop at the park. Robin stared up into the night sky. The full moon bathed the trees in a white glow. Even the stars were shining especially bright tonight. How? How could the earth seem so happy when his heart was in so much pain?
Robin revved up the R-cycle up and went back to the Tower. It was empty and lifeless. The two most cheerful members of the Teen Titans were gone. Robin watched as Raven sipped her warm tea.
“Where’s Cyborg?” Robin asked as he stepped farther into the room.
“Already gone to bed.”
He moved toward the door to go back upstairs.
“Robin,” Raven’s voice said softly, to stop him for a moment. “I know Beast Boy’s dead, but promise you won’t obsess over Slade? Cyborg and I are going to need you, and I know you’re going to need us.”
“I-I promise.”
Robin walked into his bedroom “I promised…” He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

No comments? Fine, gosh. hehe, jk.

Chapter 2

The morning news played through the radio’s speakers. Robin groaned. Why had he left the alarm on?
“And for our top story,” began the radio, “Gotham’s billionaire Bruce Wayne was murdered last night.”
Robin sat up.
“The Gotham Police are not saying much, but they suspect Jump City’s notorious mercenary, Slade.”
He dashed to the front room of the Tower. Raven was already awake as was Cyborg. They were both sitting on the couch, staring out the window into the bay.
Cyborg turned. “What’s got you so energized?”
“Slade’s killed Bruce Wayne!” Robin’s breaths were heavy and quick.
“The billionaire who raised you?!” exclaimed Cyborg.
“So he is targeting you,” Raven commented.
The alarms went off.
Robin was the first to the computer. “Slade,” he said through clenched teeth.

Robin ran down the alley. Slade was not getting away, at least not without a fight. The alley ended abruptly with a brick wall. The mercenary turned around to face the three Titans.
“Give it up, Slade!” shouted Robin.
“I was just about to tell you the same thing.” Slade pulled a small gun from his belt and aimed it at the Boy Wonder’s head.
Robin froze, as did Raven and Cyborg.
“But I’m not through with you yet.” Slade turned the muzzle toward Cyborg and pulled the trigger.
Robin and Raven ran to help their friend. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do. Slade’s aim had been straight and true. The bullet went directly into the human portion of Cyborg’s head.
Robin’s muscles tensed as he turned back to where Slade had stood to find the criminal gone. Raven bit back tears. She wasn’t often emotional on the outside, but losing both Beast Boy and Cyborg so close together was a big blow to the team. They weren’t even a team anymore. It was just her and Robin.

Starfire glanced about the throne room. In just a few hours, it would be hers.
“Mother?” came a soft voice from behind her.
Starfire turned and smiled at her son. His jet black hair reminded her much of Robin. The bright green eyes contrasted it, but gave the boy a face that you could not forget.
“What’s this?” Her son held up a photo.
Starfire took it and nearly dropped it when she realized what it was. Tears came to her eyes. It was a picture of the Teen Titans. They were having a picnic in the park. She had completely forgotten about that photo. “It is a picture.”
“Of who?”
“Some… old friends of mine.” Starfire’s eyes rested on Robin. He had his arm casually draped around her shoulder. She closed her eyes and recalled that very day. So long ago…
“Where’d ya take it?”
“It was on another planet. Perhaps someday you shall see it.”
“Really?”
Starfire knelt down so they were level. “Someday you shall be the one who rules the throne. And then you will need to travel. Perhaps you will see Earth when you do.”
“Earth…” her five year old son mulled over the name. “It sounds familiar.”
“Your father may have mentioned it. It is… where I lived much of my life.”
“I’m gonna go ask Daddy about it!” he stated proudly.
Starfire smiled as he ran out of the throne room. Her eyes traveled back to the picture. What ever happened to make her have to leave her home?

Robin opened the door of the Tower. “I’m going for a walk.”
Raven grabbed his wrist. “You can’t.”
“Why not? I need some time to think.”
“Slade will kill you.”
“He’ll kill you first. I’m the one he’s targeting. That’s what he meant when he said he would attack my heart. Kill those close to me, give me no time to recover from his first attack before he strikes again. He’s going to kill you next, which is why if anyone shouldn’t leave the Tower, it’s you.” Robin stepped outside.
“What about Starfire?”
Robin’s head whipped around. “What?”
“Are you ever going to keep your promise?”
“How did—“
“I heard you two talking. It’s been six years. Six years, Robin. Do you think she’s forgotten? Or did you forget?”
“I didn’t forget. I could never forget her. I think about that promise every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to sleep. But I have a duty to this team.”
“To what team? It’s you and me now! There is no team left. And if there’s no team left, you sure did a good job of keeping your duty.”
Robin clenched his mouth shut. “I already know it was my fault. You don’t have to put the blame on anymore, I get it!” He slammed the door in her face.
“That wasn’t what I was getting at…” Raven murmured.

Oi. Is anyone even reading this? geez. Someone say something...

Chapter Three

Robin walked back to the Tower. The sun had already set and the stars twinkled brightly. A waning moon illuminated his path. The boy pressed open the door. All the lights were off. “Raven must’ve gone to bed already,” he mumbled.
A piercing scream told him otherwise.
“Raven!” cried Robin, running up the stairs. He dashed into her room and stepped into a growing puddle of blood. At his feet lay Raven’s lifeless body. He backed towards the door. “No…”
“Ready, Robin?”
The boy jumped.
Slade stepped from the shadows. “I’ll give you one last chance to stop me.”
“Why not kill me now?! You’ve already taken everything I care about!”
“Everything, Robin? I think not.”
A piece of paper fell to the floor and landed in Raven’s blood. Robin knelt down to pick it up. It was a picture of Starfire from the week before she left. Her cheerful smile made his heart flutter. He snapped back to reality and the small joy he had had was gone. His heart jumped to his throat and stuck there while his stomach churned. Slade was going to kill Starfire.

Starfire and Ry’n knelt before her parents, who removed their crown and placed it upon the heads of their daughter and her husband. The transfer of the throne of Tamaran was officially complete.
The couple sat down in the chairs. Starfire’s gaze traveled across the crowd. Her younger brother, Ryand’r, stood in the front, while her sister, heavily guarded and fuming that the throne was not hers, stood in the back.
Her brother’s soft, innocent blue eyes stared into hers. Many people believed he deserved the throne, being the only son. But Starfire was the older, more eligible successor. She wished the throne did not have to be hers. She could be back on Earth, and she could be with her friends, if not for the duties of being a princess.
Without warning, an explosion came from the end of the hall. Every eye turned toward the entrance. Starfire’s eyes widened as she recognized the intruder.
“No…”
“Kori, who is he?” Ry’n turned his head toward her.
Starfire sat in stunned silence. It couldn’t be. It just couldn’t.
The masked man walked towards the new king and queen.
Starfire glanced at her subjects. She knew of only one thing to do in this matter. Do what she had always done. Fight. Starfire charged Slade, her starbolts glowing.
The crowd scattered.
Slade threw his fist across her face. There was more to just killing her off this time. He really wanted to see Robin beg for mercy. He managed to avoid her starbolts and yanked his bo-staff off of his belt, bringing it down on the back of her neck.
“Kori!” cried Ry’n as Slade dragged her off. He ran after Slade, but was too late. He had disappeared.

Robin launched the T-ship into space. It was different, alone. There were no orders to be given, and no one to take any. It was silent. The worst feeling of aloneness he had ever felt came over him. Robin shoved it aside and set the course for Tamaran at high speed.
When the ship landed, Robin hopped out and was greeted with an army. He backed off, in an attempt to show he meant no harm. A man about his age stepped through.
“Who are you?” he barked.
“I’m Robin. I need to talk with the princess. It’s an emergency.”
The man eyed him. “You seem familiar.” Suddenly, his face relaxed. “You were part of the group of friends of the princess at the wedding, that’s right. Ry’n, her husband.” He held out his hand.
Robin reluctantly took it. He never thought he’d have to see this man again, much less have an introduction. “I really need to speak with her.”
“Unfortunately, we’ve had a bit of… well, the coronation took a bad turn, we’ll put it that way.”
“Coronation?!”
“Yes, she’s now the queen, and of course I’m the king.” Ry’n glanced wistfully at the stars, as if reminiscing about something.
“Daddy? Where’s Mommy?” a small voice came from behind Ry’n.
Robin looked down to see a small boy about five years old with a hint of tears in his bright, green eyes. He would have recognized them anywhere. They were Starfire’s. Her son and not his. He blinked behind his mask, trying to collect himself together.
Ry’n knelt down beside the boy. “She’s away right now.”
“When’s she coming back?”
“Soon. Now don’t cry about it, Robin, she’s fine, I’m sure.”
Robin’s eyes widened. Starfire named her son after him? He quickly recollected himself. “If you wouldn’t mind telling me where I can find her, it’s very important I speak with her.”
Ry’n stood up, still focusing on his son. “Why don’t you go find Say’ll? I’m sure you two can find something to play.”
The young boy nodded and ran off.
Ry’n turned back to Robin. “I didn’t want to say anything in front of my son, but she’s been kidnapped.”
“No!”
“I’m afraid so.”
“Then I’m too late…” Robin’s shoulders drooped as his communicator beeped. Who could be calling him? There was only one person… Hastily, he answered it. “Starfire?!”
“Hello again, Robin.”
“What did you do to her?!”
“Nothing, yet. I’ve decided to give you a chance.”
“A chance?! Just let her go!”
“After all the trouble I’ve gone through to get her? Why don’t you keep that promise of yours now, and come find her?”
Robin tensed as the communication went dead. Why did it seem everyone knew about his promise?

C'mon! Won't someone say something! Blueyedblonde, if you wanna know how the ending goes, then you've gotta let me know your reading this! And anyone else who cares....

Chapter Four

Robin knocked down the door. This was the only place Slade would be.
“Let her go!” he shouted into the shadows.
There was a mocking silence in return. Robin’s eyes darted from side to side, expecting Slade to jump out at any moment. Cautiously, he stepped closer to center of the room. “Where is she?!”
Again, silence was his only response. The farther into the room Robin stepped, the heavier the feeling of guilt swept through him. The guilt of failing to keep his promise to Starfire. The guilt of failing to save her. The guilt of failing to save his friends. The guilt of failing to stop Slade in the beginning. The guilt of… failure.
A footstep echoed through the room. Robin’s head whipped around to find himself face to face with Slade.
“Where is she?!” he shouted again, though not two feet separated him from the criminal.
Slade chuckled. “You haven’t changed a bit Robin. All these years we’ve been fighting and you still have to play the hero.”
Robin clenched his teeth. What was Slade getting at?
“And now you’ve come to save your damsel in distress.” Slade pressed a button on his wrist as an unconscious Starfire was dragged into the room. Robin was taken by surprise as he was grabbed from behind by a few of Slade’s robots. They were different from the ones he was used to and struggling did nothing but make them squeeze him tighter.
“I suggest you stop,” Slade smirked. “They’ll only squeeze harder. And they’ve been built virtually indestructible.”
Robin refused to stop wriggling and kicking. Soon, he wasn’t getting enough air. He was sure he heard a rib crack. Robin stopped, realizing he had to breathe. The robot loosened its grip, but maintained it tight enough so Robin could not escape.
Slowly, Starfire raised her head and her eyes lit up a highlight green when she saw Robin, the robots, and Slade, but quickly faded back to their normal jade green. She glanced around in surprise. Slade stepped towards Starfire and placed a finger under her chin, lifting his face to hers.
“Did you really think I could let you go that easy?”
Robin tensed as Slade unsheathed a dagger.
“Ready, Robin?”
Starfire’s eyes widened in fear.
“Don’t touch her!” cried Robin.
Slade ignored Robin’s outburst and slowly dug the blade in and across Starfire’s cheek. A shriek escaped her lips and she pulled away as best as she could, squeezing her eyes shut. Tears mixed with the blood.
“Stop!” Robin yelled again.
It was to no avail. Slade continued with his torture. The blade moved down her arm, making an even larger incision. By the time Slade had finished, Robin was sure he had swallowed his vomit at least twice, there was no way he was giving Slade any satisfaction, and Starfire’s cheeks were smeared and dripping with blood. Her arms and wrists were just as red, maybe more. The salt water from her tears stung the cuts on her cheeks.
“What do you want from me?!” Robin yelled. “Why hurt her! I’m the one you want!” He was sure he may have shed a tear or two and regretted it.
Slade calmly took his attention off of Starfire and walked towards Robin. Mockingly, he wiped the blood onto Robin’s shirt. The criminal’s single eye pierced Robin as harsh as any sword or dagger. Robin’s heavy breaths came quicker as his adrenaline began to rush.
All of the anger Slade had stored up came out in a fury. He grabbed Robin’s blood stained shirt as the robots let go of him and moved his hand to Robin’s neck, cutting off all air. “Because you are what’s always gotten in my way. Because I want revenge. You can understand that, can’t you?” The anger turned back to satisfaction as Slade dropped Robin to his knees, leaving the boy gasping for breath. He turned back to Starfire. Robin looked up just in time to see Slade run the blade swiftly across Starfire’s throat.
“NO!” cried Robin.
The life vanished from Starfire’s face as if it had never been there. The sense and silence of death hung in the room. Anger welled up inside Robin and he ran at Slade. The criminal merely dodged Robin’s simple punch, but was surprised when Robin’s bo-staff slammed into his back. He had not even seen the boy remove it from his belt. Robin was relentless in his attacks, not letting up once. Never letting Slade getting a chance to fight back. His ruthlessness was greater than it ever had been. Slade had ultimately destroyed everything Robin ever cared for, everything that kept Robin going everyday, everything he lived for. Heck, Robin wouldn’t be surprised if Slade was responsible for the death of his parents, though that might have been taking it a little far.
Robin became like an animal now. That was the only way to describe it. He showed no mercy of any sort to Slade. And even when the man was far from alive, Robin continued to beat upon the corpse, all his anger, hurt, and fear driving into the dead body. His face was streaked entirely in tears.
“Robin, please, you may stop now.”
Robin’s blows slowed. He recognized the voice as Starfire’s. He knew it was only his imagination, but he still couldn’t help but glance over his shoulder. She sat motionless, fear and death residing in her eyes. Slowly, Robin got to his feet. Starfire’s blood mixed with Slade’s blended with the red on his shirt. His head bent down, staring at his feet, he walked out of the lair. The difference in Tamaranian atmosphere and Earth atmosphere were slight, so Robin still felt the relief of fresh air when he stepped onto the surface. He had no idea how much time had passed, but he knew it could not have been to long because the stars still twinkled just as bright as ever. Not a single one of the Tamaranian moons had appeared. As Robin opened the cockpit to the T-ship, Ry’n appeared with a few of his guards. The king noted the blood on Robin’s shirt.
“If there is an injury—“
“I’m fine. It isn’t even mine.” Robin didn’t care if he was talking to a king. There was no respect in his voice at all. He felt little respect for anything right now.
Ry’n understood. “Thank you for trying. You did what you could and that is all my people and I could ask.” He gave a slight bow before moving back to the palace.
“They were Starfire’s too,” Robin thought as he launched the T-ship towards Earth.

Don't know when you'd read this, but yes, I have an account, but I do not use it because my CPU and I have this thing against the site, mostly because the only loading fanfictions are either
A) badly written
cool.gif bad for the mind
or C) just plain retarded.
That, and I could never quite get my story to load.
