Does anyone have it already ? Has it reliable info on labels as well ? Judging from the sample pages it just seems a case of combining previous books like "Beatles worldwide" and several discography books for specific countries, but I may be mistaken....
I was thinking of buying it, but it is not very cheap.

That would be great ! I'm thinking of buying this but would like to know if it's worth it's value, e.g. does it focus on label variants as well, or just on sleeves ? Does it cover releases from the 70's-90's ? And most importantly, is it anywhere near complete?

A quick resume

Where to start?

SLIP CASE.

The slipcase is quite robust in construction, slightly bigger in size than the book itself.
This means that the whole book is protected when inside the slipcase.

THE BOOK.

The first thing that you notice is the weight of the actual book 4.5kg.
Cover of the book is like the slipcase robust in construction, and in the same colour.
Binding is tight, but will open up and lay flat when viewing pages.
The book is extremely well printed, quality of paper is the best I have seen used in a book of this size.
This enables good reproduction of images without images on the next page showing through.
It comes with a built in cotton page marker, which is very usefull.

There is no written discography as such, but is made up completely of images.
Size of the images is adequate, most images being around 4 to 8cm in size, and there are a lot of images.
Some larger images are also used.
Written text is also used to describe basic information regarding labels and sleeves.

It does not cover all the minor differences in labels ie. If a different font is used.
No mention is made of the Rubber Soul apple label. (or at least I have not found it yet)

The book appears to be fully up to date as it includes the “Love” album.
It covers the original release, reissues, 70’s & 80’s, compilation albums where Beatles tracks used.
It also shows the all plastic labels used in the late 80’s, This variant rarely gets mentioned in most discographies.

The book is split up into sections, Europe, Asia, America. This is further split down into Singles, E.P’s , L.P’s
Making it easy to find what you are looking for.

There is a separate section for the BEATLES COLLECTION box sets in LP format, singles are listed under the singles section in the various countries.
Separate sections are also provided for Magical Mystery Tour, Beatles Box set from Liverpool,Christmas Fan Club releases.
There is a section on other Discographies.

Picture discs are all shown, as are the coloured vinyl issues that have been issued.

If you wanted an individual USA discography, I would have to say you need the Bruce Spizer books, as in my opinion these contain a lot more info.

Otherwise if you want a worldwide discography and you can afford it I would recommend this book.

I checked it against the other discographies I have for comparison and this book provides more information on the variety of sleeves.

I guess this would be fine for people collecting from all over the world, but maybe nothing new on the UK releases?
Forgetting for a moment that you have bought it, would you say it's worth getting, considering the price? :P

I think it all depends on how much information you want, If just a single country, then probably no, but if you want info from around the world I would have to say a resounding Yes.

In my view I do not regret spending the money to obtain it.

With regards the UK releases, apart from the reissues and box set info which is very useful, there is not really a lot that could not be gained from several publications, but it is nice to have all the info in one specific source.

Sounds interesting, but does it include the more obscure LP releases from countries like Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Turkey, Nigeria, Mocambique etc. ??
