Since it's very quiet on here this week I thought I'd bore you all with my latest find.... I've never really been that interested in one boxes but I do bid on one's occasionally that interest me, I saw what looked like a very nice 1 box AHDN and I bought it mainly because it had a small stereo sleeve which I think looks better that the no stereo copies. It was graded as VG but on arrival was much closer to NM really so I was very pleased anyway, however as a bonus imagine my surprise when it turned up it had a KT stamp on the side 2 label !! These one boxes on parlophone came in in 1970 ( unlike Columbia and stateside where one boxes came in in 1969 ) and seem to last till early 71 making this KT stamp even more unusual. I have heard of McCartney's with KT stamps but never a one box although I am sure more must exsist but like I say that was a rare bonus. It cost me 20 quid with postage but I think it was worth the punt! |

That's a very nice find; must be pretty rare as you certainly don't see many turn-up on Ebay! I've seen only two of the McCartney Apple LP's with the KT stamp, but always been outbid :rolleyes: I wonder how that particular error happened; didn't someone have to put the letter stamps into the main stampers prior to pressing...as in, they're not a moulded part of the stamper but added later? Yes I always wondered if they kept blank slabs of vinyl in stock waiting to be cut. If so then it would be a case of old stock, still with the KT stamp being used up. This would also explain the MT tax stamp appearing on some BFS and Helps... |

Nice rarity, last ‘KT’ I saw on a one box, was on a Stereo one box Help LP, certainly the only one I have ever seen, I think it sold for £70, I put a bid on it, but didn’t win. On the subject of KTs, I have recently got a first press White Album, and to my surprise it has a KT on the ‘GREEN side’ of the Apple label, I have never seen that before !, KTs sometimes turn up on the white sides of the label…… strange !. WC. ;) |
