In my Florida thread I threw around the idea of a text message-to-post idea. At first I thought this would have required a shitload of code that I don't know and a bunch of other stuff. Turns out, it might be a lot easier than I had imagined (right now I can get my computer to shut down, delete and copy stuff via text message. I plan on adding more soon). We'd need a database of user's phone numbers or something if you want posts from your name. Or we could go with one user (like the anonymous board) and everybody can just sign their texts, which would be a lot easier. Keep in mind this is still in proof of concept stage... maybe not even that. You can certainly make your computer do shit over your phone, but getting onto the internet is a different story. We'd have to get the details of it worked out (for example, " " (triple-space) or "~" could equal a paragraph break). For all I know your fancy new phones come with that already (turns out they do).
I don't know. Add your ideas and whatnot. I'll test stuff later... when I'm confident enough to not break my computer doing it.
Edit: Facebook has a system like this. You register your number with them (to get it associated with your account), then you can get alerts when people post on your wall and stuff and you can post back over your phone.

I need a permanent place for my ideas, so this post will be it. Feel free to either ignore it or comment on them.
Email opens .bat, .bat copies message to new txt--saves to folder. .exe (or .bat) opens, opens new post, places contents of txt into post, submits post (...somehow), deletes txt.
Formatting idea: ^ = signifies post, $ = start of message, ~ = paragraph break,
QUOTE (text message)
^Hey guys!$I'm posting this on my cell phone.~These new features are awesome.~~-LCBM

QUOTE (forum)
Hey guys!
I'm posting this on my cell phone. These new features are awesome.

Problems:
Can't use ^, $, or ~ in post... who the hell uses those anyway?
People with fancy phones that can insert new lines
Going into the symbols option a lot
Maybe: Database of phone numbers for people. would have to be manual could also be done over text message; no verification of actual person, though no verification normally
Other miscellaneous problems:
forum session key or whatever they use to avoid spam bots
spelling/grammar; i dnt wnt a bnch of txt shortcuts on heer
getting email program to automatically delete posts afterward.bat deletes actual files, creates new ones
People being asshates by trying to confuse the coding
Possible confirmation text after post is posted?
Would be damn nice to have this all on a mad-small server instead of my computer. If anybody has a shitty old computer they never use, I'll take it off your hands for the benefit of Avon Paintball. I plan on removing everything possible from it, installing what I need, connecting it to the internet, then having it sit in my basement, constantly online.

Started reading a book on PHP. A database of numbers is totally doable, and I think PHP would be a better route than just batch files.
Schmack said he was buying hosting now that he has some fancy job (but not as fancy as APB's, I'd assume). We'd have to look into automatic online email sorting for that to work.

And just out of curiosity, how do you shred and print papers from home?
"And we're mailing you a pile of papers we need shredded. Send back the pieces in the postmarked bag we sent along with them when you're done so we can incinerate the remains. After that, we've got a 250 page report we need you to print, scan, then shred. Send those pieces back, too."
