Adika's thin leather boots noiselessly crossed the street beneath her. Pulling her half-cape further upon her neck, she observed the marketshops with keen eyes. People busling about their own business, not a care in the world.. and clearly not a care for the well-being of nearby shoppers.
Everyone here seemed so preoccupied with themselves. Eyeing one another, giving friendly smiles one moment and sending suspicious glares the next. They're all dead inside! a voice in Adika's voice screamed. She ignored it, but couldn't help agreeing.
Stopping halfway down the street, Adika's vision caught the darkened alleyway off to the side. A figure stood at the end, hunched over something. When the person rose, that something became visible.
A corpse.
Mouth open and eyes wide, Adika looked up to the figure. He was hurrying towards her, wiping his mouth. She turned and ran, darting between people, carts, and other things she paid no attention to. She ducked into another alleyway, looking over her shoulder before-
Dead end. Squeezing her eyes shut, she could almost hear the man's boots nearing. When Adika's eyes opened, the solid brick wall before her and the dead end were gone. Got to run.. got to hide.. What did he do to that person!? She hoped she wouldn't figure out. She turned into another deserted street, running straight into someone.
She clapped her hands over her mouth, freezing on the spot. "Sorry," she whispered, looking fearfully over her shoulder.
"Oi!" Hera yelled out to the figure "Back away from that woman. Or you will fell the pain of fire!" As Hera talked she slowly moved towards the two figures that she saw.
((sorry that its so short))
