Trishka quickly thanked the gentlemen who had helped her with her luggage and had directed her through the cavernous hallways to the infirmary. As she shut the door behind her she was able to see the cavern that would serve as her work place from now on. Her gaze surveyed the room, and she began to plan out a small reorganization. She opened a few drawers, content to fin the tools that lay withing them were properly cleaned. She found the beds acceptable. "I was worried it would be a disaster, but this is quite nice! Albeit lacking in structure she said as she pulled towels out of a cabinet and placed them on one of the empty beds. She opened a cabinet and emptied it as well. It contained various medications. "I always feel towels should be in the left corner. I wish I could move those basins... No matter, I can work with those."

For a few hours her work continued, emptying cabinets, reorganizing the contents and replacing everything in a meticulous fashion. Content of the make over, which did nothing but move all the objects one cabinet over, she left the infirmary and into a room which was told to be her private quarters, or something.

Inside this door was a moderately furnished room, there was a bed, and a dresser for clothes, she also had a fair sized desk. She squealed in joy at the sight of it and began to set up her research. She unrolled a hide onto the desk and observed the writing. Nothing had smudged, but she wished she had paper. "Oh gosh... one day, this hide will make my a master healer! I'd better inquire later for those with threadscores." She pulled a small container from her bag and sat on her bed holding it. "You are my ticket to knowledge and fame, mostly knowledge. if only I could get you to work correctly... Hmmm...." She stood up and perused the cramped writting found on the hide. "Perhaps if the score was softened more. That might remove the scar... but how do I induce a regenerative state into the patients flesh?" She asked herself out loud.

She shook her head. "Now is not the time for this, I have to be in the infirmary, in case someone comes in." She quickly changed into the green robes her mother had given her. She slipped her feet back into her shoes, which were green as well. Her hair was tied up into a tight knot on top her head. "Perfect." She said as she looked herself over, and proceeded back to the Infirmary. "I wonder if there are any other healers here... I hope so, if not then I am much later in arriving then I ever imagined." She said as she sat on a bed and observed the open door, awaiting the arrival of anyone at all, no matter the reason.

Wincing in pain, Kimara limped through the doors and into the infirmary. It was stupid really, what she had done. The greenrider had been in a hurry to get back to her weyr and had been jogging across the bowl. A quick step in the wrong place and the next thing she knew she was on the ground. Her foot had caught a bump in the ground in just the right place and now her ankle was twisted. Just her luck, she told herself as she examined it on the grass. Aerimeth had come down to her, trying to help but not really doing anything. The green had propped her rider up and helped her as far as she could before retreating and waiting. The healers had better take care of her Kimara, she had said, even though she knew full well that her rider would be fine.

The greenrider sighed heavily as she shifted her weight off of the injured foot and looked around the room. She noted the woman in green on a bed in another part of the room and she smiled, a small, strained little thing that reflected her own stupidity.

"Hello." she said, fairly brightly despite her tender foot. "Nice day, isn't it?" she almost laughed as she spoke now. Surely she looked ridiculous. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I seem to have rather carelessly injured my foot. You wouldn't happen to know if there is a healer in at the moment, would you?"

Trishka got up and looked the new arrival up and down. "I seem to be the only healer around right now, I'm not too sure where the others are. My name is Trishka, I just arrived from Igen." She said as she offered a bed to the woman. "Please lie down, and get the weight off your wound, also I'm going to need to know every detail you can tell me about how you got your injury, I'll be able to diagnose you properly afterwards."

Trishka made her way over a cabinet, and pulled out a jar of a numbweed based salve. "This should help with pain." She began to take mental notes of the woman, the feature that struck Trishka most, was the threadscore on her face. How fortunate of me... I may have the possibility for test subjects here as well, but that will be later, the formula isn't ready, yet...

As Trishka listened to the patient, she continued to go through drawers, not really looking for anything. The motion of opening and closing drawers helped her concentrate.

"Pleased to meet you Trishka," Kimara said as she slowly lowered herself onto a bed. "Though I wish it was under better circumstances, you know?" She flashed a small 'but what can you do' smile at the healer and carefully moved her hurting foot up onto the bed as well so that it could be examined. "Name's Kimara, by the way."

The greenrider watched the healer intently, curious as to what she was doing, rummaging through all those drawers. "I'm afraid this was nothing more than my own carelessness. I was heading across the bowl when I stepped on a rock or something the wrong way. I ended up on the ground. I think it's just twisted, but I'm sure you would know better." She shrugged and rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry if I've interrupted anything."

Trishka nodded and pulled out a jar of numbweed paste. "I'm going to apply this to your ankle to help with the pain, then I'll examine your wound more closely." she forced the jar open, and got on her knees. The paste was fresh, and came easily out onto her hand. She smiled and rubbed onto the swelling ankle, carefully, so as not to cause the woman any discomfort.

Once that was done she stepped back and waited a little, counting to on e hundred slowly. Once she was done she got back on her knees. "Ok, it should have numbed you, but tell me if you feel any pain." She ran her fingers along the woman's leg, looking for any fractures. She nodded and muttered to herself. Nothign seemed wrong, other then the twisted ankle they both suspected. Without a word she stood up and grabbed a fabric cloth. "I'm going to wrap your leg up, to control the swelling. I also want you to remain here over night, to help keep as much pressure off your leg." She said calmly.

Kimara nodded obediently and waited as the healer prepared to apply the paste. She inhaled sharply at the initial touch, careful not to move. There was pain, true, but it was nothing she couldn't handle. She had seen worse in her lifetime, a fact that the scar on her face could attest to. She kept herself at ease and smiled to Trishka as a sign that she was just fine. The numbweed to effect quickly enough, and soon she could no longer feel the pain in her foot.

"No, it's working. Don't worry." the greenrider assured the healer. She held herself up on her hands as the injury was examined. She tried to catch what Trishka was muttering, but she didn't happen to catch it. "Stay here over night?" Kimara asked the other woman. She wasn't very fond of the idea herself, but Aerimeth seemed to have other ideas. The green insisted that her rider do as the healer said, even if it meant spending the night out of her weyr. Kimara sighed and laughed. "I suppose I can do that." She shifted into a more comfortable position. "I'm sorry, but I don't believe I've seen you here before. Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't come down here often." she said, trying to start a conversation with the healer. If she was going to be here overnight, she might as well get to know the healer while she had the chance.

Trishka nodded to the woman. "Today is my first day here, but it seems empty. not many people harm themselves." Trishka's hand moved smoothly has she wrapped a thin, long strip of fabric around the leg over and over, almost like a cocoon. "There we are, now then just lay back and relax, your dragon, if you have one, may enter as well there is enough room, for now." Trishka said as looked at the lady's scar. "My name is Trishka, may I as for yours?"

She said as he sat on a stool, facing the counter and pulled some herbs out of the cabinet. The numbweed may help for now, but it'll wear off, and with that bandage I can't apply more. let's see. I suppose an oral powder is the best idea. She pounded various plants and herbs in a bowl while listening

"Well then, how about that? Welcome to Aleyeska." Kimara smiled brightly to Trishka. "I'm Kimara, rider of green Aerimeth. If you think there's enough romm down here, I'm sure she would love to come down." she tensed as she adjusted herself again and leaned back. "If you don't mind my asking, what do you think of it here so far? Have you worked in other weyrs before, or is this the first?" the greenrider gazed around the empty room, her eyes falling on empty cots and unpacked belongings. "I would offer to help you out, but, well, you know." she laughed as she gestured at her foot.

The rhythmic punding of the herbs was the loudest noise in the room. Kimara watched, interested in what the healer was doing. There had been a time in her life when she had thought about becoming a healer. The thought had been short though, only skipping through her nervous mind while she stood on the hatching sands. She never made it much farther than that.

Trishka shrugged and laughed. "So far it's been quiet, much more peaceful then I expected." She picked up a mug and filled it with water from a bucket. She mixed the powder with the water and handed it to the Kimara. "There you are, that will stop pain... for about 12 hours." she walked away. "Then again... it'll stop you from feeling anything." She added as she looked at her mixture and the ingredients she added the mixture. "It may have been to strong." She said as she examined it a little closer.

"I'm sorry about that. I was distracted." She giggled and shrugged. "It'll be an interesting 12 hours I suppose. Just remember, even though you can't feel pain doesn't mean your invincible, i suppose. Oh! and if you go blind, we are allowed to panic." She joked.

Kimara returned the healer's laughter with her own. "Oh, just you wait until a queen rises. The way hatchings can go, you might find yourself busier than you expected." She took the mug from Trishka, eyeing the concoction inside. It looked a little funny, but it was the price she would have to pay for comfort. She downed the contents quickly, before she had a chance to give it a second thought. "Well, I suppose that no feeling at all is somewhere better than pain, right?"

Carefully, she poked at her leg, testing the effects of the medication. "Oh don't worry about it. I think I can manage 12 hours with no feeling. Blindness, on the other hand, might be a different story. I appreciate the permission to panic though. Believe me, if I lose my sight, I plan to use that to the fullest extent that I can." she winked at Trishka, returning the joke.

Trishka raised an eyebrow at the remark of the hatchings. "What do you mean? Have people been harmed before?" She said a little concerned sitting down beside her patient. before sitting she took a mug of water as well. "I've been a healer for a while, but I've never really treated a wound caused by a queen dragon." She took a sip and smile. "Oh yes, we do want to avoid blindness. You have a dragon correct? If so, would he or she panic if you went blind?" She thought about a panicked dragon and worried about it.

Kimara's scar caught her eye again. Trishka silently measured it and wondered how deep it ran. She continued gazing at it, noting the ridges and bumps. "I wonder... How old is that scar?"

"Well, not always. They can get ugly sometimes though. Our last hatching left at least one in the infirmary." Kimara moved over to make more room for Trishka as she sat. "If it comes to that, I wish you the best of luck. You seem to know what you're doing pretty well though, so I'm sure you'll do fine." She laughed lightly, showing that she was confident in the abilities of the healer. A thoughtful look crossed her face as she thought about Aerimeth. "I've never gone blind before, so I can't rightfully say. I would think that she might be worried." At that thought, a slight wave of concern passed over her mind, coming directly from Aerimeth. Kimara laughed and reassured her, telling her that everything was fine.

The rider's hand moved slowly up to the scar below her eye. She had had it for so long that she had more or less come to forget about it. "This? Let's see... I think it's been about... 9 turns ago? That sounds about right... Why do you ask?"

Thriska giggled and shook her head. "Dragons are such intriguing creatures. Oh! there was no need to move! I have a chair here." She pulled the chair towards the bed and sat. "I am worried however for the hatching... I've never treated a dragon caused wound, but I have seen them. Compound fractures, such terrible lacerations not to mention the burn wounds." She began to contemplate the various treatments she would need for such injuries. She wondered if she had all she needed here, but she wasn't going to worry her head over it too much. "The chances of that are low... As long as the candidates do as they are told, one would suppose."

Trishka smiled when asked about her interest in the scar. "So it has matured with you, perfect. It seems to have stretched well. I ask because I'm in the middle of an experiment, one that could put me in legends, maybe even in a book!"She exclaimed excitedly. "I have to be careful who I share the details with, because I don't want it stolen, but I trust you, only cause I assume you would be unable to re-create it, no offense meant. I really only assume other healers to be capable of stealing my idea. I'm making an salve that will strip away a threadscore and encourage the flesh to grow back healthy and full." She smiled as her head filled with the image of the formula she had on her desk.

Kimara smiled contentedly. "They really are. You have no idea. Even after being partnered with one for turns, they can still surprise you. Would you care to meet mine? I'm sure she wouldn't object to a little showing off." the rider laughed. She nodded in acknowledgement as Trishka pulled up a chair. "I wouldn't worry about treating Hatching injuries just yet. You aren't even completely settled in here yet. Even if we were to have a flight in the next few days, the Hatching would still be a ways off. You'll have plenty of time to prepare for the worst that might happen, and I'm sure that there will be someone here to help you out." She put a reassuring hand on the healer's shoulder and smiled encouragingly.

Kimara ran her fingers lightly over her scar once more, thinking about what Trishka said. "I would think that legends would be a little harder to get into than a book, but if you're right, that would be wonderful. To be able to heal a threadscore seems like quite a task. If you've managed to figure it out, I'm sure your name will be remembered for turns to come. No offense taken. I doubt that I would be able to recreate it myself as well." she laughed.

"Plenty of time? Good, good. We must always prepare for the worst, so they we are prepared." Trishka said as she stood up and looked around. "I would be very interested in meeting your dragon... Do you think she would fit in here?" Trishka said as she looked at the large door at the far end of the infirmary. "I could open the door I suppose."

She eyed the scar a little more. "I guess a book is easier, but then again, a book is forever. I do hope I figure it out eventually. It'll take some time, hopefully not to long though."

"And being prepared is one of the best things you could possibly be!" Kimara chimed in. "I could offer my help, however little that might be." she chuckled. "I'm afraid that I'm not much for healing, but I can stand the sight of blood and follow orders if you should need help when the time comes." The greenrider looked around the room and chewed her lip in thought. "I think she would. If you want to go ahead and open the door, I'll let her know to come down here for a visit."

Kimara laughed at Trishka's comment. "They may be more permanent, but legends can be more fun, and they allow for... more room. Kids would sing of Trishka, The greatest healer that ever lived!" she cheered as she flailed her arms in an excited fashion. "She cured all the people on Pern of their horrible threadscores, all while charming the young boys with her beauty. You know how legends can grow over time." she winked.

"Oh I don;t think I'm that attractive." Trishka giggled as she approached the door. The heavy latch fought back, but after a few moments of combat, Trishka won. The heavy door swung open allowed the light of day to fill the infirmary. A gentle breeze coaxed a few petal into the large hall as well. "I think that should be enough, invite her in!" Trishka said as a petal danced off her face.

She made her way back to the injured rider, giving her ankle a prod. "Hopefully you can't feel that by now. Did you need anything? Water, food?" All that was left was for Kimara's body to heal for itself; something Trishka couldn't control.

Kimara shrugged. "I suppose that's what you think. I'm sure you must have had at least one boy following at your heels when you were younger." She laughed at the thought of lovestruck boys drooling after girls that they adored. The rays of light that filtered in were shocking and bright at first, but her eyes adjusted quickly. She nodded to Trishka as she called Aerimeth down.

Aeri? Would you mind coming down here for a bit? Someone here would like to meet you.

The poke on her leg wasn't felt at all, much to her relief. "No, not a thing. And I'm fine for the moment, thanks."

The green responded quickly, if tersely. Before long, a shadow passed over the ground outside the door and Aerimeth backwinged down to the ground. She stood outside the door, looking intently into the infirmary.

'I am here. Who is it that I am here to meet?' she asked her rider. She held her head high, obviously trying to show off her beauty as a green dragon. Kimara laughed.

"This is my Aerimeth." she said, gesturing for the dragon to come inside. "Aeri, this here is Trishka. She is our new healer here at Aleyeska."

The dragon inched in slowly, being careful not to break anything as she went. Stopping before the healer, she lowered her head to give her a quick looking over.

Trishka bowed politely to the dragon has it entered. "My my she is a beauty." Triskha walked around the dragon, analyzing her. "It's funny, I never really learned how to treat dragon wounds, I do hope some of the other healers would teach me. Now then, Aerimeth, is it? Your rider has a sprained ankle, and will need to rest for a few days. Right now she's unable to feel anything, no pain or anything that you can touch It's temporary. Her thoughts may get a little... foggy, I suppose. It's perfectly natural. However, if she tells you she can't see, you are free to panic, as long as it's not cause she blinked or something." Trishka held up the herbs she used. "I absolutely adore these little plants. What do you think Aerimeth?" She asked holding the vial up so the dragon could see.

Trishka felt it would be best to explain what was going on, hopefully it would help kee the dragon calm.

Aerimeth huffed her appreciation at Trishka for the bow and compliment. Her eyes never really left the healer though, as the woman examined her. Kimara may have decided she could be trusted, but Aerimeth wanted to be sure herself before she would settle completely. She was, after all, new to the weyr. She nodded in acknowledgement.

The dragon listened intently to the healer as she explained exactly what was going on. It was a little worrying, knowing her rider was hurt and that she would take time to get better, but they had seen worse together. She knew that Kimara would be alright.

Aerimeth sniffed curiously at the herbs in the vial. She wasn't sure exactly what they were, but they looked and smelled strong enough to have a good effect, whatever that effect might be. She nodded to Trishka. If a healer said they would help, they would likely help.

Kimara watched from her place on the bed, curious to see her dragon's reaction. Trishka's explanation made her laugh. "Oh, don't mind her if she takes a little while to warm up to you. She only wants to be sure for herself that you can be trusted." the rider called, trying to explain her dragon to the healer. "If you give her time, I'm sure she'll be your best friend by the end of the night."
