All at once three eggs started to wobble and shake. Almost as if on cue. The first four had really taken their time getting things started but now as any normal hatching things were getting to speeding up and going faster than most people could keep track of. Those with dragons would be lucky to get a play by play later of shared and combined memories. Just as soon as everyone thought that the largest egg out of the group was about to hatch, another egg that was rather medium sized hatched open spilling out a beautifully hued.... blue dragonet. His forlegs burst through the shell first, followed swiftly by an inquisitively sniffing nose and then a brilliant pair of eyes that were whirling green with pleasure. This new world had sooooo many beautiful smells in it! Yes it did! He crawled from his egg slowly savoring each very deliberate step as he moved forward into the big wide amazingly smelling world. He held his head tall and as he moved from the egg this dragonet too was gifted with a slightly... odd form. His nose was very long, and the cavity which his nose went through was a bit taller than on most dragonets. In fact, his overall appearance was slightly boxier than a normal blue. His talent, other than his nose of course, would be his staying power in the skies during thread fall.
A thick and well muscled leg took a step, and then another towards the candidates, his large nose sniff sniffering about as he went. There was something... good? Yes he would call it good, though he was not quite sure where that word had come from but that was the word that he was going to use yes yes. A few steps here a few steps there, always sniffing about until Kraketh decided to take it amongst himelf to sneak a peak in the dragons mind to make sure that the little one was not blind. No, he was not blind, he could see perfectly well, he just... really enjoyed using his nose to explore the big wide world.
Finally the little one made his way, purring, all the way over to where everyone was standing and sniffed at the edge of each candidates tunic, as if there was something even the candidates didn't know about with their white robes. When he thought he smelled something he liked he picked his head up and looked adoringly into one face and one alone. His eyes whirled rainbow as the connection was made and he was sitting, a blue mass of purring and tail waving as he looked adoring into the eyes of his own.
My own Aralyn....my very own you! Oh! How glad I am that I have found you! My nose helped yes it did! It is a good nose, can you help me and my nose find something for your Priderths midsection?

A sister egg to the Bloodhound Blue started to wobble and shake with quite a bit of furvor. This little egg was shaking and shaking until "snap!" the entire shell sprayed in every direction, sending shards this way and that and sitting in the center flapping her wings rather joyously was a dainty little green dragonet... Her wings continued to flap as she tried to get them dried. There was so much... blech! So much sticky stuff stuffs on her wings. No like! She arched her neck and turned her head to the side, displaying what some in the crowd were coming to call their "gift." Since so far none of the mutations seemed to really inhibit the small dragonets in any real way or form. This young green had beautiful and LARGE neck ridges. They seemed to cascade from the center of her fore head all the way down her wonderfully arched neck and paused just where they should for a rider in the future before continuing almost all the way down to the end of her tail. She was a beautiful creature. So far one of the most beautiful mutations as well, other than maybe the large winged brown.
With her wings at a satisfactory dryness the little dainty one stood up and shook the rest of her body off ending with a rather distinctive flick of her tail as she literally pranced her way across the wonderfully warm and comforting feel of the sands. Her feet were so beautifully small compaired to the ridges that came off her neck and she was one beautiful almost contradiction to herself in so many ways. There were many ooooo's and ahhhhh's about her color as well. Simply stunning! Though she did not know from who or really understand all the words, she heard the attention from the crowd and reveled in it. Lifting her head high and looking around and flapping just the tips of her wings in a wonderful fanning motion.
She saw the line of girls and walked straight up to them, taking long graceful steps as she looked at each one. Was that tingling in her mind coming from one of these fine two legged creatures in front of her? No... Hmmmmm, not quite what she had in mind for herself. There was something lacking in all of these. OH! Why over there look, there are more things to see, more creatures dressed in white. The little green pranced over this time to the few males that were standing in line and looked right up and into Corusthek's face.
C'rus! Yes yes you! Don't look so startled that I stand before you. It's really quite the perfect thing you and I, I and you, you and me... us!
She placed a dainty little fore arm and hand onto C'rus' shoulder and that was simply that.
C'rus, you will feed your Rhianth yes?

Ebony had been having a very pleasant dream when she was jerked awake by the loud call of Ziarreth for the candidates to come to the Hatching Sands. At first her mind was a fog and couldn't quite grasp the meaning of the words. Then a sudden jolt within her mind made her jump straight from the bed in a flurry of covers and clothes as she digs through her things to find her white robe. It was just her luck to have it missing at such a critical time.
"I know I put it in here somewhere! I've got to hurry or I'll be late!",she mumbled to herself anxiously. This was one of the most important days of her life and she refused to let anything stop her now. "Aha! Here it is!" ,she shouts while pulling the robe from under her bed and throwing it on in one fell swoop while running for her door. Which she promptly ran into in her rush and excitement. The klutzy girl stopped to rub her now sore head before opening the door and then once it was closed behind her she takes off in a mad dash to the Hatching Sands.
Trying to be careful not to run into anyone on her way Ebony went at a full sprint to the entrance of the Hatching Sands. Now out of breath and feeling very nervous she composes herself before going before the golden queen. "I *pant* thank you for allowing me to be here mighty queen." ,letting the last part out in one breath before joining the others amongst the eggs.
This was it. Ebony was filled with excitement and joy at finally making it here. If not only for herself but for being able to watch the others walk away with that happy glow that came with Bonding to your life partner. She could only hope that would be her after today.
(((Whew I did it!!)))

Corusthek watched as a few eggs cracked and the young dragons finding there life mates. He tore his gaze away from the eggs and perused the crowd of onlookers. it took a while, but he managed to see V'rik. He waved rapidly and turned back to the eggs. One began to shake and crack, until out came one of the most beautiful greens Corusthek had ever seen. she trotted along the other candidates. He was sure the green would stop in front of them and find her partner. He watched as the dragon continued right to him. it looked him right in the face, and placed her paw on him, proclaiming she was his, and he was hers. Corus stared for a moment, smiled and nodded to the beast, scratching her eye ridge instinctively. "Rhianth is it? I'm honored you chose me." He helped her put her hand down, without cutting him. "And of course we shall feed you, my Darling." he said, smiling wide and nodding politely. He felt so wonderful and gleeful to be in the presence of HIS dragon companion, and such a gorgeous colour she was too.
Gorgeous? that is right my C'rus.
Her eyes whirled a happy colour, as the newly named C'rus led her off to the dinning hall with a wave of his hand.
Has they walked together, the lovely Rhianth held her head proudly. C'rus held his high as well. He thought of V'rik and Avinoth as he progressed to the dinning hall, has he was instructed. "I wonder if V'rik would visit us later..."
Who is this V'rik? Is he that man you thought of?
Rhianth asked, tilting her head curiously. "Ah!! I can't keep secrets from you can I? Well yes, V'rik is that man, he's a rider like I am now. He has a blue dragon named Avinoth."
I understand. What I don't understand is why it is taking so long to feed me! C'rus chuckled and pointed to his shadow. "If you have any problem, you can blame him." Rhianth remained quiet, but her eyes whirled inquisitively. "One thing before we enter the dinning hall, we have to eat slowly, so you don't accidentally kill yourself." He said as he opened the door for his new life partner.

Oh Look! Look love! She's beautiful! Look at those neck ridges! Avinoth happily trumpeted in honor of C'rus and his new partner.
V'rik waived back to his friend and proudly watched him as the little green chose him. He chuckled at his dragon, sure his mind was going off much like his friend's was about now.
'Calm yourself silly. What is her name?'
Rhianth? Rhianth! Yes. Should we go meet them?
'Well, you remember then, all she cares about now is food. But we should probably offer him a helping hand with so many new weyrlings I am sure the others are busy. And I don't mind lending a hand. I am sure you're dying to meet all the new additions as well knowing you silly dragon.' V'rik smirked, turning to hug his dragon's muzzle.
Avinoth thrummed at him in joy and compassion then lowered for his rider to mount.
Yes let's greet them all! This is a wonderful day. Avinoth said as he took wing, circling down over the feeding grounds where he and V'rik would be waiting for C'rus and his new Rhianth.

One of the last eggs that still lay on Aleyeska's sands made a somewhat lazy movement that resembled maybe sort of wanting to hatch. It really didn't know if it would or not. Why couldn't it just stay right here, where it was. It was an egg and it liked it. Thank you very much. There was nothing in here that could get to it. It was nice and dark... If a little cramped. Well, now that you mention it the left of its side sort of felt a little pinched and uncomfortable. But it could live with it! Yes it could! Just watch it. There was no reason to move. .... expect for that pinching feeling on its left side again. That was really getting obnoxious... and that sudden pain in what it would assume to be its midsection. Though the dragonet with in the egg really had no clue whatsoever what a midsection was. That was fine. It would soon enough. A rather audible grumble came rumbling out from the egg as the little one trapped inside was ever so not happy to be stuck in there anymore with its pinched side and its growly stomach. But it just... oh well fine. fine fine fine. If it was going to do this it was going to do it right! With a heave and a ho and a push and a pull of its body around in its shell the dragonet started to put all the effort it could into getting itself out of its nice, dark, warm sanctum. It pushed as hard as it could with its rear end and with its front, oh it was going to do this now yes it was! Yes it was yes it was yes it was! It became like a chant with in the dragonets mind as it pushed as hard as it could. The shell of its egg really seemed much thicker than it should.... and it was so hard to get through it! Finally a bit of light as a small chip popped out of the top and light sprayed into the shell like a light to wonders beyond!
A little squeek came from the dragonet inside and a VERY tiny muzzle peaked through that small hole at the top of the egg. It was very small and beautifully shaped and a very briliant color of blue. Almost as if the sun had been put behind another beautiful blue to enhance the color. It was stunning. The only thing about this blue was its size. That became much more apparent as more of the egg was slowly broken away and there was literally a baby blue dragonet standing in the space that would have been half the inner size of the egg. The pinching that the blue had felt was the pull of a wing that had been pulled back too far, only done by how small he had been. That was swiftly remedied by stretching, the other problem, the one of his midsection was quite another that had not yet been solved.
R'ton looked at this dragonet an watched carefully with arms crossed to make sure that the little blue did just fine as it walked. So far it looked like there was nothing WRONG with it other than its incredibly small size. The small little blue that could literally curl up on any normal sized teenage boys chest and stomach like a large cat and the small now very determined blue made the long treck across the sands to the boys. They felt like they could be right! But upon looking up at each one of them he found that they were all lacking... something...
He continued onto the girls and looked at one curly haired girl and another with almost no hair at all. Finally he came up to one girl in particular and his mind just seemed to meld and melt into hers with such a glorious wave of joy that he knew... oh he KNEW this was the one!
Ebony! Oh! the little blue almost fell over backwards from such excite at finding his and jumped and pawed like a playful puppy at the legs of Ebony. A few minor scratches were left, but nothing that really broke the surface of the skin. The tiny blues eyes whirled rainbow and he finally settled down enough on the sands again, Ebony, Ebony, Ebony! I am so happy I have found you! It is good to be out of that egg that pinched my wings! But... my middle hurts... can you fix it? His stomach growled audibly as he spoke, Oh, and I am Hintreth

Ebony watched with baited breath as one of the few remaining eggs wobbled around before finally hatching into a beautifully colored dragonet no bigger than a large cat. Its stunning baby blue scales took her breath away and its size did nothing to diminish her awe, in her mind she thought how lucky the candidate that it found would be. As it stumbled forward toward the boys she couldn't help feeling a deep sadness until it suddenly started for the girls. A powerful feeling started to well up inside her as the small dragonet came closer and closer to her, and when it finally stopped before and seemed to smile up at her with its mind she couldn't help the audible gasp that escaped her lips.
A rush of emotions, excitement, happiness, even love came to her as the little one spoke to her for the first time, not minding the minor scratches he left on her legs in his excitement. "I can't believe it....is this really happening?",she mumbles as she kneels down to stroke his head. "What do you mean mine? Of course this is happening. I am here you are here and I am hungry! Please fix this?" ,the miniature blue said in a manner of fact tone while giving Ebony a soft hum at her touch.
"I feel like I've been waiting forever to meet you my little Hintreth! And of course I can fix that tummy of yours." ,Ebony smiles down at Hintreth before picking him up in her arms. For just a short moment all she did was simply hold him relishing in the warmth of her own's body and the gentle touch of his mind to hers. It was an experience she would never forget. Then as she realized others were staring she blushed and quickly made her way toward the dining hall.

Hatchings were always a chaotic time in the Weyr. This Revia knew well. She had heard tales of wicked injuries given to the Candidates by an enraged or panicked Hatchling. She had never seen them herself, but she had certainly heard of them. And as a Healer of Aleyeska--it still sounded odd in her ears, living here only a few short months--she was standing near the entrance of the Sands, Healer kit in hand, waiting just in case any injury needed immediate tending. She felt out of place in the happy occasion, like her own distant mood fouled the air around her. As it was, the Healers even tended to avoid her unless she was on duty. Only then did she ever show emotion on her face or in her grey eyes. Only then did she seem human. Everything else...she kept at arm's reach. No one knew where she had come from. No one knew of her history or even with whom she had trained. All they knew was that she was good. Journeyman level, and so her knots proclaimed. As the Hatching began, Revia watched with calculation, wondering if this would be a deadly clutch like the ones that filled Healers with dread.
Revia watched the proceedings of the Hatching with a distant air as she did most everything in life. The cracking and Impressions held little interest for her. She had long since squashed her dream of being a rider. She was too old now to be a Candidate anyway. Hence why she wore Healer green to the Hatching. When the first Candidate was injured, Revia stiffened and took a step forward, but when the lad refused the aid of another Candidate, the Healers waiting knew there would be nothing any of them could do to convince him from the Sands. And good thing too, as a dragonet found him and Impression was made. Revia had also heard of what happened to dragonets if their Chosen wasn't on the Sands. They either panicked in their attempts to find them or they went Between. Revia did not want to see that happen to any dragonet. She hoped desperately that nothing like that happened this day. It was perhaps the only feeling she had for the Hatchlings tottering about the Sands.
That changed in an instant.
Revia? Where are you? Your Dhavath needs you!
The voice cut through Revia like a spear, despite how warm and loving it sounded in her head. The Healers around her stepped away as she knelt on the ground, trying to force the voice from her head. She was dreaming. But the heat of the sand through her pants told her otherwise. Crazy. She was hearing voices then. But something drew her gaze up, something she could not ignore. She looked up as a croon caught her ears, from without and within her mind.
I am Dhavath, the little odd green said, curling up in front of Revia, her muzzle resting on Revia's foot, gazing up at her with rainbow eyes. And you are my Revia. Revia reached out slowly, disbelieving of the love and kindness filling her mind. And hunger. An aching, gnawing hunger. Dhavath's. She was feeling Dhavath's emotions. Instantaneous understanding hit her as the green's humming vibrated in her bones. It felt...right. Revia looked around her, laying her hand gently on Dhavath's neck, rubbing the soft, moist hide. Her eyes were bright for the first time in turns, genuine emotion finally lighting her face, making her look her 19 turns instead of 30.
"Her name is Dhavath!" she said, her voice brimming with the sudden joy she felt. It had been possible. She had just Impressed!
Of course, Revia, Dhavath said, raising her head to look into Revia's eyes. When that wasn't good enough, the green jumped up and braced her forepaws on Revia's knee, nearly touching her face with her long green muzzle. Why would I not choose you? You are perfect for me and we will be great! The green hopped down, tail wrapping around her forepaws just so as she gazed lovingly at her rider. You don't have to worry about failing anymore, Revia'Mine. We can't fail. Not when we are together finally. That shell was cramped.
Revia chuckled. "Do you want food now?" Revia asked, not knowing anything else to say. The green before her perked up at that, her wings flaring slightly as she stood quickly.
Oh yes, please! the Hatchling exclaimed. My stomach is growling so loudly. It is being so rude!
