Aleyeska Weyr

(Note: Takes place before the second hatching)

Corusthek Looked around the tub area. It was nice and vacant, the way he would have preferred it, if he liked being alone. He sighed and placed his bag of sweetsand down beside the warm pool, tossing his clothing aside and sinking into the water. he sank to the bottom, then floated back up, the muck that trailed from him followed the submerged current. He sat and thought for a while, very worried about the hatching and it's outcome.

"I wonder how V'rik is doing... Maybe after my bath I should go visit him. I'm sure he would like that, and his silly Avinoth." He giggled thinking about the excitable blue, and blushing when he thought about the blue's rider. He grabs a handful of the sand and ran it through his hair, humming to himself as he did so. "I wonder where the other candidates are... Hmm."

Ebony had such a long day. Between the journey and getting moved into her new home at the Weyr, and then being told she would get to be part of the hatching coming up she was exhausted and just wanted to relax. She had left her room wearing her bathing clothes, with a drying clothe thrown over her shoulder and a bag of her own soap sand. Ebony followed the directions given her by another candidate to make her way to the bath, dust and dirt from her move covered her body and she wanted it off before doing anything else. It amused the young girl how excited everyone was over the hatching even those who were already Impressed, from what she gathered this would be only the second hatching to ever happen within Aleyeska and that made it a special event indeed. "I wonder whether or not I'll impress at this hatching...oh I hope I do..." ,she thinks just as the entrance to the baths came into view.

Walking right in without really thinking Ebony started taking off her top since she didn't really see anyone at first and never really liked wearing it while bathing anyway. She stretches her arms up above her head that was covered in her usual messy, short, black hair. Sighing she runs her slender hands through it wishing it didn't always get like this before a good wash. "I really should keep it clean more...but whoever has the time?" ,her words seeming to echo in the room, she is still blissfully unaware of the other presence within the large tub. Ebony then looked down at herself examining her own body with a small frown as always when she would see the ugly star shaped scar just between her breasts, she then smirked and cupped her small breasts thinking how she used to envy the others girls. "Oh how silly I was..." , she murmurs.

Finally deciding to get into the water she walked over and sat on the closest bench to rub herself in the soap sand. Only then once she had sat down did she get the feeling of being watched. Ebony looked up to notice the young handsome boy sitting in the water looking at her, she then promptly started to blush bright red just across the bridge of her nose as she always did. The color stood out against her fair pale skin and her deep blue eyes became filled with embarrassment. "Um...h-hello...", the poor girl stammered.

A deep sigh left Nekarian's lips as he made his way to the baths, clothing draped over one shoulder. It had been a long day, and he was looking forward to getting to relax for a bit in the water. What was sad was that he wasn't even sure why he was so worn out. To his knowledge, he hadn't done anything too far out of the ordinary. What could you do though? Whatever the reason, he felt like he could just fall apart at any moment. If he was having this hard a time now, how would life be when he had a dragon to look after?

If.

That's right. If. There was no guarantee that he would impress.

As he approached the baths, he took note that it seemed quiet enough. Maybe for once the shy boy had been lucky enough to make it there when no one else was around. Walking in, made his way to his usual spot beside the water and began to strip down, starting with his shirt. As the top came over his head, he caught sight of the other two people in the room. He saw Corusthek first, which wasn't exactly a huge problem for him. True, their first meeting had been a little rocky, but they had moved past that and could call each other friends. Bathing with him wasn't too bad. "Hey Corus. How've you been?" He offered in greeting, just as his eyes fell on the girl.

Nekarian hadn't yet met this girl. Instantly, his face burned bright red. The shy candidate took a slight step back and began to stammer an apology. "I-I'm sorry... H-have we met? I can leave if you want." He stuttered. Walking in on Corusthek or maybe Rakisan, one of his friends, bathing was hardly anything to worry about, but it wasn't exactly polite (in his mind at least) to just barge in on a girl you had never met before. He had no idea whether or not she knew Corus, but that didn't matter. He stood there awkwardly, blushing furiously, eyes averted and staring at the floor.

Corus watched the girl undress, obviously not seeing him. He looked her little frame up and down, more or less bored. He wasn't affected by naked girls in the slightest. He kept still though, so as to surprise her when she would turn about. When she at last did, Corus waved and smiled. "Hi there, I'm Corusthek. Pleased to meet you.... Uhh...?" He said, not having learned her name, he wasn't able to address her properly. He invited her into the water, noticing how shy she was he tilted his head. "Uh... what's wrong?"

When Nekie entered the bathroom Corus smiled. "Nekei! Please to see you again! Come on in the water is boiling! I feel like a crustacean in the kitchen" he laughed and stopped when he stopped. "Why... is everyone so quiet? I did not make bubbles..."

Ebony smiled shyly at the boy as he introduced himself. "Corusthek? I believe I've heard your name mentioned somewhere before. I-I am Ebony. I'm pretty new here..." ,she barely got the words out of her when another boy came in. He seemed rather shy and self conscious once he noticed her and it made him look rather cute in her opinion.

She blushed once more and gave her introduction to him when he asked. "Oh no, we haven't met yet. My name is Ebony, and you don't have to leave. Please..um..join us?" ,there was an awkward silence before Corusthek spoke up about it. Ebony stood up from the bench and walked to the water quickly, then lowered herself in slowly her body instantly beginning to relax from the heat.

"Sorry for being so quiet...I'm not used to these sorts of baths and I wasn't expecting you here..." ,Ebony spoke in a soft voice once she completely relaxes.

Still somewhat uncomfortable about the whole awkward situation, Nekarian smiled nervously and nodded in acknowledgement of Corus' and Ebony's invitation into the warm water. The boy shuffled over to the water's edge and slowly lowered himself in until he was submerged up to his shoulders. Corus was right, it was sharding hot water. He sighed as the warmth let him get a little more at ease after that little embarrassment so few seconds ago. He leaned back and closed his eyes a moment, letting it all wash away before he went to properly introduce himself to Ebony.

"I really am sorry about that Ebony. For the record, I wasn't really expecting either of you to be here either." he said, laughing lightly at Corus' previous joke now that he was more at ease. "I'm Nekarian, by the way. Have you been here long?" he asked, turning now more in Ebony's general direction. With his shy personality, he was still a little uncomfortable, but he would get over it.

Nekarian dunked himself underwater for a second or so just to get the dirt that had accumulated in his hair throughout the day before resurfacing and continuing the conversation. "So how have you two been then? It's been a while since we've had a good conversation Corus, and I'm curious what kinds of things you do Ebony." he smiled at them both.

Ebony thought how adorable it was that this boy was so shy, though she could not say much since she was just as shy at times. The frail looking girl could only chuckle as she realized the situation, two rather handsome boys bathing with her and here she was with no top. Thinking of this made her lower into the water till it just barely covered her shoulders. Though she did notice how Corusthek seemed more interested in looking at the other boy than at her, this also make her smile. 'So that's why he doesn't seem bothered' ,Ebony then realized she was being talked to and turned to the other boy with a soft smile. "Nekarian? Well I'm very pleased to meet you. Even if it is under odd circumstances." ,she chuckled lightly before answering his question. "No I have only arrived three days ago. It has been rather hectic for me..." ,Ebony let out a sigh as she thought about her days after arriving, so...busy.

She turned to Corusthek when Nekarian dunked himself under the water and gave him a friendly smile and a giggle before asking him a question. "So...you think green huh?" ,Ebony was a bit surprised with herself. Her usual instinct with men is to avoid them or be as stand offish as possible with them, but at the moment she felt...safe. Or perhaps the past few days were simply catching up to her. Once Nekarian came back up and spoke she shrugged and gave a gentle smirk. "I don't really do much at all. I like to read and I love to draw when I get the chance. One of my favorite things to do though is just sit outside under some shade and watch....everything." ,at the last sentence her deep blue eyes light up and her smile is sweet and genuine. Ebony then waits to hear what the other two have to say.
