Jim Rome: What is up, a tremendous friday to you. You have your number have a take, do not suck. We have Giants GM Mike Bedard coming into the jungle as soon as J Stew can hunt him down, Derrick Brooks in the second hour and your calls in the 3rd hour.

JR: We are joined first off by Mike Bedard, the Giants are in first place in the NL west, they are currently looking very strong. Mike you are in the jungle

MB: What's up Romie, good to be here, maybe pick up some Karma

JR: Good to have you your team is out front how is the team different this year, how have you created a new atmosphere out there

MB: Well Jim, it comes down to the players in the end. Everything we do off the field has to translate to the on field play of the club. We've had some players step up and play well but really it's been a team effort.

JR: Before the season you dealt away one of the best contact hitters we've seen in Ichiro Suzuki, how do you make a decision to deal one of the best guys in the league and still get better?

MB: It wasn't an easy decision on our part. Ichiro brought a lot to San Francisco, especially considering that we have such a sizeable Asian American population in the Bay area. We knew that this wouldn't necessarily be a popular move but the guy we picked up, Cedric Hunter, should contribute and then to pick up another arm with Michael Main in the draft, we're feeling good about our farm club and really that's where it all starts.

JR: I see how you're working, can never have too many arms, never. And that deal kept Ichiro in the Bay area.

MB: Exactly, this wasn't a situation where we had an unhappy player who wanted out of the city, he just needed a new team around him and we needed to give Jose Reyes a spot where he could be more productive and that was the leadoff spot, he's a guy who can go on a streak like he's on now hitting .466 in the last week or so.

JR: Your other deal also got you an arm - Takamasa Suzuki - He's 1-3 in his last 4, is something wrong with him?

MB: I think a guy with a sub 2.50 ERA doesn't need to defend himself to anyone and really if you look at his last few starts we haven't gotten run support for Taka. I think you have to look at him as a #1 still and with Bedard, Parrott, Bautista and Tim all pitching well when we drop it's always going to be a case where we probably could have done a little more to help them out.

JR: Now there is irony for you. You have a guy, Mike Bedard, who won a Cy Young with your name. <pause> How does that happen?

MB: A quirk Jimmie, what are the chances that we end up with a guy who has the same name from the same town. Pretty unlikely but he's a good arm and he's another part of our team who comes to play with every start.

JR: How do you hang on now, after the quick start, against teams like Boston or Los Angeles, who can win a lot of games really quick? Can you hang on?

MB: Well we certainly hope so. Those are two good ball clubs who have struggled a bit and have had some injuries. We've been very lucky to stay healthy and if we can continue to do that I think we'll have a good shot at staying near the top

JR: Thank you once again, we'll definitely track you down again later in the year. <pause> We're going to pay some bills, I am your pimp in the box, Derrick Brook up next hour.

Cue crappy mid 80s music...

Romey is an,errr...arse!

Figures he would get behind SF ,literally in an exhibition of his manlove for anything from Cali.Especially from the Gay Bay in NoCal.

What ,Romey got no love for SoCal seeing as both Friars from Diego and Codgers from LA both SUCK! Or was this a reach around quickie,a hit it and quit it weekend fling to put you in touch with your other, more sensitive side.

Somebody needs to get the Giants a supply of Enzyte,or whatever Male Enhancement product they would prefer.Staying Power is what it takes to win in the NL and you got your panties all in bunch over leading the NL Worst,I mean West division.

We bring Drama in the South CENTRAL division! Many a girl from the West has been kicked to the curb when on our block.Come to 'da hood and you will leave feeling violated and decimated.

You suffer from premature jubilation. The South CENTRAL gang will put a hurting on you and you will feel it in the end,and you won't like it!

LOL Rome is what he is - a total schill for whoever is on the program.

Just hoping that someone gets off an F bomb or something really stupid about the Red Lobster so he can replay it forever.
