Got the Reactor pretty much done.
Gary Cain lent me a set of batteries and chargers today. So I got the plane all set up and balanced and ready for Sunday.
Here are the final shots of the batteries installed and ready to go.
The final all up weight with the batteries installed is 18 lbs even.

The final pic doesn't look different than any other picture I have posted of the plane, but what the heck.
The prop on it at the moment is a 23x10. It might need more prop. After a few test flights I should have a better idea.

Well as most of you saw the remaiden as an electric went Ok.
The first flight with the 23x10 prop was a dog. It had no pull.
The second flight went much better with a 22x12.
I will be getting a 23x12 for it next. It needed just a little more.

There was a small issue with the timing. If I advanced the throttle to quickly the ESC would loose sync with the motor.
Dave Gamble checked it out and said that was the most likely cause. He said he recognised the sound from when he had a similar things happen to him. I will advance the timing for the next time I go fly it and see what happens.

Overall, I call it a success cool.gif

Just some fine tuning and it should be a blast to fly. It was nice flying it around slower than with a fueled engine.

OK,
The new cowl that was ordered last monday arrived in Mississauga yesterday from Tower Hobbies and was released by customs today.
I should see it tomorrow or Thursday. biggrin.gif

The batteries on the other hand.....Are still waiting on customs inspection. 8 days and counting since they arrived in Mississauga angry.gif

I placed another order today at HK for the motor that will go in the Recator Bipe. Along with some other little tid bits like wire and stuff.

Watch if the order I placed today,
doesn't arrive before the batteries dry.gif

What motor/Esc/battery combination are you planning to use for the Reactor bipe?

I'm interested because i want to a similar sized electric sometime in the spring. It won't replace the other planes just give me a few more options. I kinda like the Escapade done EP but I think I'll look for something different.

I plan to run 6S in it with a 16x10 prop

The motor I ordered is pretty strong. I will be looking at 250watts / lbs
For all out 3D and prop hanging.

I am already looking at another plane for next spring blink.gif ...sheesh...I don't even have this one started yet unsure.gif or the big Reactor finnished
But ironically its not a big plane, only another .45 to .60 size plane wink.gif

I picked up the new cowl today. So I got it all mounted up and cut out the air cooling holes.
In the last photo you can see the ESC is in the direct path of the airflow.
The area of the air exhaust hole at the bottom of the cowl is 3 times large than the inlets. So there should be plenty of air flowing through at a good speed. The 2 smaller holes up beside the spinner are even with the motor and should help in getting some moving air past the motor.
